Having both GM and Ford here at the house...We preferred the Timberline hands down with the exception of the looks...The GM just looks that much better. The Ford Seats, the way it drives, room and a few options were within 3k when equipped the way we wanted. The GM felt slightly smoother and I did like the 6.2. vs the 5.3 for power. The eco boost pulls better because of the turbos.

Personally I don’t like the looks of the Tahoe, I don’t know what Chevy is doing with that front end but it just doesn’t work for me, doesn’t flow with the front fenders, etc. It also looks strange from the rear. Looks wise I prefer the expedition.

I had a Tahoe and an Avalanche, both with the 5.3...and felt they both were way underpowered. I then bought a 2017 Yukon Denali with the 6.2. What a difference 70+ hp makes! LOL Too bad the Denali ended up being the biggest P.O.S. I ever owned and I traded it in after 6 months of ownership.

I drove both of them and got the Expy Max Limited 2023 and love it. The ride is harsh but, in the mountain, and high elevation the 480lb/ft @ 2200 rpm make you happy. Never ever 8 v 6.2 can do it. Breaks are also much better than Chevy.

hey thanks for reviewing these big truck based suvs. not too many people comparing these off road trims prob bc they are so expensive. i would have thrown in some specs on your wagoneer also esp one with the hurricane engine. if i was going to build an overland rig i would not take either one including the new gx550 w two rows or sequoia hybrid. the zr1 diesel does have some potential. these are fine for the urban pretendos or wannabes but like you said most people wont take them off road. i dont like how the factories are specing them for off road. for one the interiors are too luxury oriented. all black int., leather, big screens, sunroofs, 2nd row captains chairs, and 3rd rows are not needed but i think they will sell alot of these anyway. i dont know much about the wagoneer yet but if i was doing an overland build i would take an expedition sxt 2row model as a base to start w regular ecoboost engine or coyote. add 1.5 inch lift w steel springs, (not air which you prob have as an added expense and fail point, but i know jeep did build a 2row wagoneer concept this past year which TFL showed) bench rear seat , no sunroof. lighter interior(to see stuff at night), cloth seats. rubber mats, skid plates, tow hooks, bigger gas tank. full size matching spare, tow hitch. keep side steps and roof rails w cross bars. some more serious folks would prob go bigger w tires like 285/70/17s. i dont mind the 265/70/18s. ford sized them right for the small lift. i saw 116t on the side which is an extra load tire i believe. 20s dont belong here on the timberline at all and will give you a harsher ride. add led lightbar. dual batteries, electronic rear locker, front limited slip. did i forget anything? oh yeah a roof top tent to top it off. simple is best and this is how you beat a lexus gx.

can I ask your opinion, comparing 2023 Ford Expedition Timberline vs 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L V8 Summit Reserve? Which is better in terms of driving experience/handling & reliability ?
I know both cars are not in the same category, but in terms of price, they are slight differences after discount. 2023 Ford Expedition Timberline is USD75,300, while 2023 Jeep GCL V8 Summit Reserve is USD 71,000 (included 5 years service package). There is also a leftover stock of zero mileage 2022 Ford Expedition Timberline selling at USD 68,200.
Facing dilemma in making the right choice.

Ford ranks #1 over GMC, Chevy and Dodge, don't waste your money on Chrysler. I agree, the Chevy Tahoe does look a bit better, but I'm all in for comfort and towing... BTW JB, make up your mind...are the Ford seats soft or hard. In two of your videos, you contradicted yourself. A true reviewer doesn't make those mistakes.

Come on man. No body races a full size SUV. You try to avoid gas stations and food stops. I love the Tahoe ride compared to the Expedition. Additionally, a tried and true V-8 over a V-6 twin turbo all day. Long term reliability has to go a less complicated engine. As usual, great job. I’m waiting on the 2025 Tahoe Z-71 or RST. 😂

Tried and True? The 6.2, and to a lesser extent the 5.3, is a liability. My Yukon Denali has been in the shop since before Christmas for lifters, camshaft, and pushrods at 52,000 miles. Engine needs to be replaced. Neighbor had his 6.2 blow at 15,000. Before I crap on the turbo 6, I’d take a look at the number of GM V8s built in the last 3 years in the shop. I’m a lifelong GM guy, but it’s getting ridiculous.

  • @MattC.87

To me the Yukon AT4 interior (like your 2500s) is miles better than the Tahoe interior. I’m also not a fan of the touch screen only that comes in the expedition. With drivers as distracted as they are today it is a lot safer to have a bottom to be able to reach down and grab instead of having to look at a screen

I’m a Ford guy but would get the Tahoe because I’m sick of the turbo 4/6 cylinder turbo Ford’s been shoving down our throat and pretending as if it’s as good as a V8. Look at the Bronco. You take an awesome vehicle and put…a 4cyl in it or an anemic 2.7l 6 in it. Really? A 2.4turbo in a full sized suv.

    • @freedomisntfree_44

    • @jinchengshi3191

A turbocharged 6-cylinder can easily outperform a V8 if the transmission is tuned correctly. The Ford 3.5 V6 should be the most powerful engine among its price range, but sadly, it feels like the weakest. The transmission is tuned for comfort, causing the turbocharger to kick in too late.

@@freedomisntfree_44 I agree with that. It has the most powerful engine and is the quickest 0-60 in the class. However, I’m not doing drag races with a poorly handling SUV. The only time I need the power is when merging on the highway and overtaking slower cars. The transmission is so comfort-oriented; it won’t downshift and provide enough torque when needed. It only gives you around 250 lb-ft of torque (feels like) in low RPMs.
