    I just wanted to congratulate the whole Inventables crew on the X-Carve Pro. The design looks amazing, sturdy and very sleek. I'm also glad you decided to go big. I was in complete shock when i first saw the video on your website. I watched it probably 5 times and had co workers come over that are interested in CNC and watched their jaws drop as well. It's super cool and will be getting one at some point as I just got the 1000mm X-carve so the pockets are empty right now. That pro looks wicked cool!!! can't wait to see what others make with it. I love the CNC community because they are all so creative and helpful. Anyway it looks awesome. Please make more videos of it so I can drool over them even more.

    It'll be interesting to see how well the feature that allows you to use a workpiece larger than the tooling footprint will work. Usually infinite-axis machines use a form of conveyor, that way the distance the workpiece moved is actually measured. I wouldn't be surprised if there's quite a few teething issues doing this but without a machine-measured movement; especially when human error and user error are considered.

      Its ridiculous how many companies like this, step craft and avid cnc selling these toys not that rigid for crazy prices as compared to a robust cast iron chinese ones. I bought a 6ft x 4ft cut area cnc router with 3kw water cooled spindle, large linear rails and beefy frame with cast iron beam x axis as well as vacuum bed and pump (shipped from china with duties and all costs $8500 USD) I got lucky found one brand new not never been used stored for 8 years for like 3500 USD. These toys are for people who have money and no brains.

    • @xaytana
      @xaytana 3 роки тому +1

      @@NERVESxxOFxxSTEEL The only concerns of Chinese machines are tolerances, repeatable accuracy, fit and finish, and longevity. Chinese mini lathes come to mind, and there's an entire community around those just for upgrading them to what should be standard, and there's entire series on fixing the issues with them. There's huge tradeoffs with quality when you buy from Chinese origins.
      But I do agree that the pricing from companies like Inventables, Stepcraft, etc. is a bit ridiculous. Hopefully we'll see what happened to 3D printers happen to desktop CNC machines; initial high prices and worthless promises on cheap machines, then an overall price drop across the market as more and more companies pop up.
      Really the only no-compromise solution is to build a machine yourself. Cost of a Chinese machine but with greater quality.
      I've also been curious about looking into things like the Shaper Origin, a handheld router that's machine assisted to produce CNC-like cuts, and the Goliath CNC, which is just a router on omni-wheels. Maybe the realistic solution to having a super affordable machine while having unrealistically high quality is to put a machine on wheels and have what's basically two infinite axes. For wood and sheet goods, at least, true 3D Machining would never work with this method.

    Providing a laser attachment and unlimited pro software with the price, it might have a chance. Right now, you are able to upgrade the rails from third parties, laser attachment (Endurance laser or JTech laser) and free advanced software (Fusion 360 free!) for under 1K and still be under the total price of 3K. You can almost buy 4 of them after the presale ends. 2 spindles of productivity is always better than 1. Also making it easier to cut pieces larger than your board is great but people have been pulling that trick for years. Carbide also don’t have subscription fees which for the occasional maker is gold. I bought a glow forge and am regretting my purchase after they wanted me to pay 15$ a month for basic features. Never again. Carbide 3d for the win!!

    • @A2ZGeek
      @A2ZGeek 3 роки тому +2

      @@kuzcatlan absolutely, it’s clunky, cloud based, has a lot of difficulty handeling complicated designs with lots of paths and unless your design is simple it often has a lot of gcode errors which ca result in failed cuts. Not to mention it’s basically useless without paying for the premium version. Finally in an attempt to keep the workspace clean, they bury tools and features behind other things which makes finding the correct tool unnecessarily complicated.
      If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. Personally I prefer fusion 360. You can get a free license for makers and while it has a pretty steep learning curve, it is far more advanced and capable then easel. Still cloud based which is unfortunate but their servers are far more powerful and I very rarely have any issues.

    Shipping first units to influencers is cool but why not ship a few units to regular makers and get some honest feedback from people who don’t have the same experience or a reason to give a bias review. Maybe ship them a unit and a camera and see what they can make. Not knocking the influencer business model but I think seeing the machined used by regular makers with no prior CNC experience would be much more compelling as motivation to buy, especially if those people were able to make enough money selling the products they create within a few months to pay for the machine.
