Hey man, I’m not a detailer yet but I’m planning on starting it part-time. I subscribed to your channel because I really liked how you respond to pretty much everyone and also because your videos aren’t over-edited. (And of course because you look a like a good person.) One recommendation I have is working on your sound quality. I noticed that you’re now using a mic but your voice is still not quite loud enough and there is a lot of background noise.
Please don’t let this discourage you and keep making those videos regardless. Good work! Will continue to support!

Because I’m in a dealership doing trades, I typically cut and polish headlights for the sake of speed. If the lens need more than that in order to be presentable I also use a sanding block with sandpaper 600/1200/1500/2000/3000 then polish. %90 of the time cutting is sufficient. No doubt your method is more professional and longer lasting … thanks for the video it’s good for me to be reminded of the professional way to do things. Cheers 🍻

I use 1500 ->2000 -> 3000 then compound with a wool pad and polish with a black pad. Been working for me for years.

A Palm sander, car looks really good. I would have started with a 1000 grit then use a 2000 grit to take out the 1000 grit sanding marks then finish off with the 3000 grit. Then polished and sealed. If you getting the results the customer want then that’s all that matters.

I throw the rupes x-cut sanding discs (wet) on a 3in polisher (12mm) and knock it out quick. I do 1500>3000k then polish with the 3 in DA. Nice video!

20-30 min max!!?? I do restorations and it takes me two hours every vehicle start to finish. Wet sand by hand polish and seal.
How you doing both headlights so fast?

Thanks for watching bro🫡 So my process is pretty much the same I use 1000 or 1500 grit then 3000 then polish and add sealant. I do the same thing to both headlights at the same time so when I’m done with one I’m done with the other. Also sometimes I’ll use my drill attachment to do the sanding (just be careful and tape everything off). Some cases are worse than others that being said the longest I’ve ever took was 45min-1hr max. I hope this helps

@ crazy lol most of my work I start with the same grits as you.. sometimes I need to go down and rarely have to go down to 320. All by hand but for some reason from start to finish on site it’s at least 2 hours. That’s from greeting the customer, taping, taking before photos, doing the work taking the after photos and cleaning up.
Next time I’ll have to see how long my sanding process is actually taking.
I’ve done work with the drill but haven’t in a long while. Mainly because my drill batteries don’t last long enough and I can’t keep up with the cost of the 3M disks. Too expensive.

@@MichaelBrianInc lol I didn’t factor in the meet and greet. So yea I guess 2 hrs would make since especially if you get into a good convo with the client

@ lol ok yeah bc I’m like geez one hour or less on site that’s crazy for the same process I do!
Question, how is the price point you have it at working for you? I’m down in FL so I guess it’s a similar area market to yours as here there’s such a mix of people and communities… I charge more. Between $120-140. I’ve done OK however price among other objections seems to be very common to hear. I’m wondering if it’s worth coming down slightly and what the sweet spot might be at near me. Orlando here.
