    You do a great job sharing information and teaching others "how to do" things ourselves - thanks very much. It was a simple job to replace the recessed handle on the center console for my 2003 BMW 525i. I told myself before I started the work I had to have a plan and take my time so I didn't ruin anything in the process causing myself grief and probably additional cost - thanks again - the new part looks great!

    Excellent. Thanks for this. I was unaware that part was individually available for our cars (figured we were stuck buying a new armrest). Mine is in similar condition. :)

    Thank you thank you very helpful. Was wondering on how to replace the cupholder and also found out on how to replace that piece as well. Great job Ryam

    Thank you so much for this video! I was able to put in the new handle no problem.
    For those whose cupholders or storage cubbies are not loose, I found that a small thin putty knife did the trick prying each side loose.

    Yesterday, I performed the poor-man's fix for this issue. I took a rag and got some friction and heat into that trim piece until it took off the remainder of the rubberized coating. It's now shiny plastic, but the money saved will buy the parts to fix the pixelated MID and gauge cluster.

    would really like to see a video on replacing this handle on a non-phone model. The metal base is very different.
    To install new handle on this setup requires separating padding and base, as there are locating dowels that anchor handle in, and cant get past them as is. It basically needs to be inserted vertically, then foam padding on top.
    I can see no way to seperate padding from base.

    Hey thanks for this, got the part from Pelican. My 2003 car has a sliding armrest and open compartment instead of cup holders, which took a little persuasion to get out. Then in addition to the Phillips screws I had two nuts to remove off bolts holding the top in. Then I had to slide the mechanism to expose all the torx screws, 2 under little removable caps. Built really well I must say. Now looks a s$%t load better.

    I need help in how to replace the storage box with the sliding shutter
    on my 98 E39. Doesn't look like it has any screws to it, but not sure
    how to take it out. It is the black box underneath the armrest with a
    sliding shutter that goes up and down. Thanks

    • @E39Source
      @E39Source  7 років тому

      It's all the same part, with slider and the box. It's really just pressed in there. I usually take out the center console trim to replace it so I don't damage anything, but you can also just grab it and pull out at the angle of which it sits in there.

    Why is it...none of my stuff ever comes out so easily. Instead of cup-holders, I have a small storage bin and it just does not want to come out. I feel like I'm gonna break whatever is holding it in place, tabs, etc...

    • @E39Source
      @E39Source  7 років тому

      A storage bin in the cup holder area? What car do you have, I haven't heard of that?

    • @wiredawg2005
      @wiredawg2005 7 років тому

      Really...let me clarify, your vid (1:10 mark) instead of cup holders under the rear vent console. Mine is a small open-style bin, nothing special...and its small...fairly useless. and I did manage to pry it out. Lift-up and pry from the sides...the sides have a tab to hold it in place. (2001 525)

      The North American arm rest does not open for storage, it just slides forwards and backwards.
