Treliving has a pretty track record of signing or trading for defensemen, he got Weegar in the Tkachuk deal, acquired Dougie Hamilton, similar with Zadorov, signed Tanev, etc. I am sure that's pretty high on MLSE and Shanahan's mind when they hired Tree. If say Tree can get a similar package (Huberdeau, Weegar + 1 rounder) for 1 of core 4/5 (not Matty), I am sure the fanbase would be over the moon.
Hopefully the Marner trade will bring in something close to number 1 blue-liner.

This is Shanny's last year if the Leafs don't progress. It's the final year on his contract also with Pelley in I think MLSE will erase the "president" job and Tre will answer directly to Pelley as reported by some of the hockey writers.

Steve and Chris you trade marner to Calgary with lilejgren and jarnkrok for markstrom and Anderson you pair Anderson with Reilly you then dip into free agency and sign pesce and zadorov or tanev McCabe and Benoit are your 5 th and 6 th d and Webber as your 7 th thus solves your goaltending and defence now you work on the forward position

You can’t just trade $11M in space for picks and prospects. The math don’t add up for the team taking on Marner, they have to shed some space too.

Guy Boucher will go to NJ, follows Keefe, also Guy coach Nico the year before his draft. IMO i much rather Jessica Campbell for PP coach if im the Devils but this year Fitzy has been clueless and bad. Even tho Devils dont need a PK guy cuz they have their guy in McGill(top 12 PK in the last two years) Now Boucher for D coach and help with PK yes.
Ice surface is larger in Europe so any player would greatly benefit including Tavares.

Tavares if he won’t wave best case scenario is to let him play out next season and for Tavares to agree to resign to a low contract like 4.5 million x 3 years he still could be a 70 point center because let’s face it the leafs do not have a 2 Nd line center anywhere in there organization so I envision this as our top two lines

Not necessarily. Timing just didn’t work last week.
It won't matter. The cancer is still in the organization. Shanahan and the Board of Governors are still there and THEY are part of the problem. Shanahan has to go. It is still going to be the same old Leafs. The roster needs to be taken apart and rebuilt and Shanahan has to go. Or it will be the same next year. The irony would be the Habs making the postseason next year and knocking out the Leafs. And it would be poetic justice.

So when it comes to discussing the Maple Leafs, since the sportscasters at both sports networks are "contractually obligated" to talk about the Leafs, do they really think hockey fans outside Toronto care? When you haven't won a Stanley Cup in 57 years and counting, why bother? I just visit here because it's comical to think the Leafs mean anything.

I'm American and grew up watching Hockey Night in Canada and the Leafs. I love the Leafs. I want to see the city get a cup.
