Hey Kris, first step is to scan your car with a BMW specific code reader like this one: amzn.to/3s89bkc (affiliate link) which will allow you to begin diagnosis. Otherwise you're just driving blind. It could be as simple as a wheel speed/abs sensor at one corner causing the lights, but could also be an ABS module in need of rebuild. Yes cruise control can still work sometimes.
Congrats for your video, its great and very helpful. im searching the service por a e46 323i 2000, and i dont have luck... i have the same problem. Do you know if the module for the 3 series can be repaired?
Gabriel Zurita coding is not necessary when doing the rebuild, one of the main benefits to rebuilding. If you buy new $$ it’s very expensive and will also require a trip to the dealer to have it coded.

Ryan Granado Ryan it sounds like either you have air in your brake system or a broken brake line. The module does the electronic bits and the hardware does the mechanical elements. Did you bleed the brakes after the brake master install?

If yours cannot be repaired like mine however you can get a used one on eBay for about $150 and then have a shop reprogram it for you for about $100. $250 is still better than what the dealerships want even for a used one. You can drive the vehicle without the abs module, you just won't have abs brakes.
Thanks for this. Two questions, the link for ebay repair site does not work. Any other suggestions? 2nd question - can I drive the car without the module while I send the module out for repair? Thank you
G Taylor Johnson I will update it in the morning, thanks for letting me know. Yes, technically you can drive the car, however I don’t recommend it because your speedometer will not function and ABS will not work. So if you were to get into an accident, I’m sure the insurance company would love to deny coverage due to the abs module being missing from the car. Not worth the risk if you ask me. But technically yes the car will run and drive without the module.
@@BIMMERZEITT Great. Thanks for that. Here's a link for a rebuild service I found. www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-E39-E53-ABS-MODULE-REPAIR-SERVICE-525-528-530-540-X5-M-Warranty-Quality/323200458103
2001 BMW 740 DSC light, Abs light, brake light and cel p0500' speedometer works along with the cruise control. Help. Did you have ignition cuts or a random rough idle?
Difficult to diagnose with little info over the internet, but sounds like you have multiple things going on here Brian. It's possible to have a bad ABS module (you need to have the ABS specific codes read with scanner). If you have running issues it's not likely related to the other ABS issue, unless of course the car has had any water damage causing electrical havoc.
You can do either. I would recommend sending it to the rebuild place first, which should fix the problem. In the event they can't repair it, you'll get your money back - then you can shell out $500+ for a new unit. If you DO need a brand new unit, it also has to be coded to the car either at the dealer or using BMW software. The best scenario considering time and money is just doing the rebuild.
@@BIMMERZEITT Are you able to drive it while it's out of the car being rebuilt? Obviously you wouldn't have traction or abs, which is fairly dangerous...
@@jjthesavage technically, yes, the car will still run and drive, the speedometer won't display your speed if I recall correctly. If you were to get in an accident because of lack of ABS computer/traction control might have some liability there - so in short- no I wouldn't drive it
Hey question, if my abs light turned on, then the brake light and then the cluster gauges stopped in addition, is that an indication of the abs module failing too? Like with the abs module failure, will my rpm gauge, temperature gauge and odometer quit too? Or is that a different problem?
NinjaPegasus300 yeah it’s possible... but haven’t heard of tach and temp failing at the same time. You have have something else going on. Step one, buy a creator c310 bmw scan tool for $56 ish and scan your car for codes. See what the abs computer has for codes, if any. Code reader: amzn.to/2GlGKvF

Don't swap it unless you're swapping with new. Better to repair yours first. If that doesn't work get a used one, repair that and recode that. Not sure the cost of a recode, dealership may prefer to do you a new one $$$

Sam Dog not really other than the lights being on. However this means the ABS will not work in the event you need it to stop quickly and safely. So is advised to repair as soon as possible.
Sam Dog oh you mean DSC light? Traction control? Yes sometimes it’s just a intermittent fault that will go away in a day or two on the e39. I’ve seen that on several e39’s. Other times with the abs and brake light it’s the beginning of abs module failure. Get the best bmw a can tool I recommend to scan and check for codes first to diagnose.

Awesome vid and very informative; however, I cannot find a ABS module repair for part number 0265247000 on a 1997 e39. Would you by chance know of anyone that can repair this particular module? Thanks.
BIMMER ZEIT Started the car this morning and the trifecta lights went out for about 15 seconds, then came back on. I drove it to work. Started the car this afternoon and no trifecta lights all the way home. Strange.
Anything can happen. Like he said, with a handful of heat cycles, the module will burn out, causing the car to go into trans. failsafe prog. (Transmission fail safe program) if the ABS module is not "working properly". I only have a mere 104k miles on my E53, but it is already going. The codes you might wanna be looking for are P0600, P0720 and P1747. If you wanna know how hot it gets under the hood, simply idling can get the intake up to 50-55c (120f+). Also while in trans failsafe prog, the car will be set to idle at 700rpm and locked to 3rd gear. Hope this helps others with an E53. Please drive safe, especially on the highway/interstate because you will NOT be able to shift from 3rd gear.
Nice work. Did you disconnect the battery before removing/installing the ABS module? By the way, BBA-Reman is now shut down worldwide, so forget about sending anything to them. The USA one is a mile from my house. It's likely they've been busted for shady business practices, and lots of people will never see their parts again.
I don’t recall if I did. It’s probably recommended to, but since the connector is unplugged anyway it shouldn’t be too big of a deal. Interesting, I haven’t heard that news. Any other rebuild sources?
davedavis Dave that is textbook abs module failure. The thermal joints in the board expand once warm and no longer have a good connection due to exhaust manifold heat - just look at where the module is located. The rebuild service repairs the soldering of the board. Of course, scan and see what ABS codes you have first before jumping right to a rebuild. But I’d bet it’s the module, you’re also at the Golden mileage they always seem to fail at 117-120k miles
I believe I had mine back within a week. Yes it will still run and drive, but if I recall the speedometer may not work and it won't log mileage. You also won't have any ABS or DSC so I would recommend not driving the car while it's out. Not worth the risk to get into an accident, then the insurance company investigates and you're at fault because you had no ABS working. Maybe that's over the top. But it's not a risk I would take if you have assets to lose.

Rough idle more likely the cam sensors
So you can send your old ABS module to get it fixed or buy a brand new one?
If you were to get in an accident because of lack of ABS computer/traction control might have some liability there - so in short- no I wouldn't drive it
@@BIMMERZEITT Thanks, I appreciate it!
I bought a bmw e39 530d 2002 with both abs lights on. I have a code : 14 Valve relay fault. Do you think i need to repair my ABS module like you ?
I think the relay is bad you can change it. In the fuse box.
Did u fix it
@@terrencemayes469 I changed it
Hey hopefully you reply back :( I got this on my 2008 328i when I drive longer than 10 min it pops up I took it to the dealership and it worked fine for 2 days nothing popped up til today took it back in they said to either fix the bearings (which is a 50/50 chance it can be that) which is 1k to fix or This I think but they are charging 2,700 for it :/ can I take it to a mechanic instead ???
I have the same problem but But my car is a 2000 BMW 328CI do you think they can to fix it
Were you able to drive the car without the module?
Can you tell me the eBay vendor?
dID YOU NEED TO CODE YOUR MODULE AFTER RECEIVING IT?
No. You don’t need to code it if you have the one from your car rebuilt. If you buy from another car (used) it needs to be coded.
@@BIMMERZEITT brill thank you
Hi
Does the m5 e39 has abs relays
Thank you
When all three lights are on And without testing, is it always the ABS module? Or could it still be the sensors?
all 3 lights is usually the module. I would suggest buying a $50 scan tool to check and see what trouble code is stored in the car first. This is a good tool that I use the c310 amzn.to/2UXzWdl
Can we just disconnect the module and use the car? My antilock brakes are engaging on tar when I even lightly use the brakes. I need this car bad and a little scary driving
My got the same your problem all lights go on ,. And speed dometer don’t work to my car is bmw 325i year 2001...thanks man I try to replace like you did maybe I hope it ok.,,,,,,
What about on a 2002 X5, i doesn’t want to go then it gives me 4x4 inactive and gives me all these lights
just the DSC light came on recently, any suggestions?
victor alvarez,jr scan the car with a BMW specific code reader or inpa and pull a trouble code first to point you in the right direction!
Trying to help a friend with his car. His abs was malfunction and got a replacement module as we determined that was the issue. New module in and all was good for a few months until dsc abs lights lit up again. DSC5.7 73DSC pressure sensor. Code B3450_57051. Any idee where to start. Could it be the replacement module acting up. Brake pedal feels soft in comparison to my e46

You never listed the name of the vendor. I need that info ASAP!!
There’s links posted everywhere
i will have a goo at it i have a 540i v8 that has the same issue ..... looks very potencial !!!
Good, how are you! I have a BMW 530D E39 YEAR 2002 in the diagnosis mark "code 00000E- description DSP Valve-relay fault". I do not know exactly what could be the problem, if you could help me I would appreciate it infinitely. Greetings from the center of South America PARAGUAY !!!!
I replaced all 4 wheeler sensors and had the ABS module rebuild two times and still have the same problem. any suggestions?
hi, it depends what bmw? the yaw sensor can cause the same lights to come up or if 4x4 the transfer case actuator.
Try your steering angle sensor
Nice!
Young G, respect
We're did you send yours to send me the link

I swamped mine in my 2003 for a used one and now it stays on even with the faulty one
You can’t just swap them, they are coded to the vin number of each car. You may need bmw software like INPA or ISTA to re-code it
Don't swap it unless you're swapping with new. Better to repair yours first. If that doesn't work get a used one, repair that and recode that. Not sure the cost of a recode, dealership may prefer to do you a new one $$$
Anyone knows of an 2005 X3 ABS module repair service? I cant seem to find anybody just for X5’s
Widen your search the module is not model specific, its a bosch. Search for bmw abs module repair

Hey Have a question that I couldn’t figure out so My tail light are not working at all just bought a new housing and not still Could you help me or anyone?
Like button is smashed! Thanks!
Danny Boy cheers Danny!
Misleading vid. This is a swap NOT a repair.
Any symptoms while driving
Sam Dog not really other than the lights being on. However this means the ABS will not work in the event you need it to stop quickly and safely. So is advised to repair as soon as possible.
@@BIMMERZEITT I always drive with it off.....this time, the light wont turn off
Sam Dog oh you mean DSC light? Traction control? Yes sometimes it’s just a intermittent fault that will go away in a day or two on the e39. I’ve seen that on several e39’s. Other times with the abs and brake light it’s the beginning of abs module failure. Get the best bmw a can tool I recommend to scan and check for codes first to diagnose.
Who is the guy who fixed them
ABS Module Repair: ebay.to/2xIisrK
Four things. The abs on the wheel. Abs circuit cubes the motor control unit relay. Wheel Internal electronic rotor abs. And the abs block. This is a four thi things where you e38 e39 e53 #bmw ABS system.

Just got the trifecta on the way home from work today in my 2001 740iL. 🙁 Looks like I will be sending the ABS module out for repair. Again.
Ready72000 ugh!
BIMMER ZEIT Started the car this morning and the trifecta lights went out for about 15 seconds, then came back on. I drove it to work. Started the car this afternoon and no trifecta lights all the way home. Strange.
What happened to your car when this went bad?
Great
Can you still drive the car with the module detached?
Yes
Any other rebuild sources?
just had these lights come on at 118k miles... but they only come on after i've driven for 15 mins or so... at startup everything looks normal
davedavis Dave that is textbook abs module failure.
Your video was helpful. I just hope they don't take too long in shipping it back to me. Can the car be driven without the module attached?
I believe I had mine back within a week. Yes it will still run and drive, but if I recall the speedometer may not work and it won't log mileage. You also won't have any ABS or DSC so I would recommend not driving the car while it's out. Not worth the risk to get into an accident, then the insurance company investigates and you're at fault because you had no ABS working. Maybe that's over the top. But it's not a risk I would take if you have assets to lose.
