    as someone whose busy and butt area is bigger than my waist. I'm constantly having to tuck the waist on dresses and the sorts and it's nice for once to see al alteration video that doesn't require you to have a sewing machine. I wish more UA-camrs kept that in mind and showed both the machine and hand sewing options

      I'm happy to hear that this is helpful to you. I try my best to show options because I know not everyone has access to a sewing machine.

    Do you have to cut off excess fabric after sewing, though? I ask, because my weight fluctuates and cutting fabric seems like a permanent solution for a temporary issue (at least for me) sometimes.

    I’ve never done this before- should the thread go through both ends of the fabric (Like through the front side and back)? Or just the one side that is marked?

    • @sewaldodiy
      @sewaldodiy  Рік тому +1

      Yes, you have to sew it through two layers of fabrics.

      It is called an even backstitch and is the hand facsimile of machine stitching. I prefer it in certain situations because I feel I have more control than I would have using a machine.

    • @sewaldodiy
      @sewaldodiy  2 роки тому

      @@alzorama2876 Thank you now I know what it's called. I used to call it backstitch. My mom love this stitch too her hand sewing is amazing it looks like she used a machine.

      @@sewaldodiy You are so welcome! Sometimes I just can't be bothered to set up the machine and this stitch works very well. I admit that I really enjoy trying to make the stitches as perfect as possible, although sometimes I don't do it so well.
      Actually, you are right in calling it a backstitch, except, technically, a backstitch is just one stitch at the end of a row of stitching and is put there to secure a row of hand stitching. The even backstitch is where the entire seam is done with backstitches, as you did in this video. There is also an uneven backstitch which leaves spaces between the stitches.
      And I love your video instruction! You are a very good seamstress.

    Can someone please explain to me why, if you cut the fabric off, there will be no holes???

    • @sewaldodiy
      @sewaldodiy  11 місяців тому +3

      There will be no holes because the seams are stitched shut. If you are hand sewing be sure that the stitches are close to each other and no gaps.
