Cannot tell you how helpful this video was for me. I have always struggled to pick Brig because I assumed that you had to constantly be brawling to make her work. Just focusing on inspire uptime and staying alive helped me win 16/20 games with her this weekend - climbing from Gold 2 all the way up to Diamond 5. Huge thanks my dude!!
Just remember that Inspire is per target. Just because you did damage doesn't mean that people near you are getting healed if Inspire didn't activate for them or they entered range after you did it. Every six seconds is NOT enough to ensure healing.
I’ve always loved Brig because she’s just so much fun, but found myself never picking her because I felt useless, this guide was huge and completely changed the way I play her and can feel confident maining her again
The extra 25 burst heal really feels like it pushed brig from a neutral/bad pick to situationally strong. When every other support would die she lives with huge heal over time.
and especially now with ball and tracer being played a lot, she can be very powerful in specific situations/comp/maps. She was always good, but suffered a lot with the previous meta (hog/orisa). The extra healing was the cherry on top :P
The biggest key to understanding Inspire is that it’s Line Of Sight (LOS) based. Your team mates will get Inspire if they are within the 20 meter sphere and are within LOS of you at the time you activate inspire (damage any enemy). The second that Inspire is activated on a team mate, that player will get 90 heals over 6 seconds, even if they can go out of LOS. So when you activate inspire, try to be within LOS your fighting team mates, then get behind cover.
Appreciate this. Positioning with Brig is something I struggle with and the explanation of the goal with Brig made that clear for me. I like that you went into a game as well to really put those principles into action.
He never mentioned that shield bash knocks back a very small amount. So if ball is rolling through you can actually stop his momentum with shield bash as well.
It also works on Orisa when she’s doing her spin thingy. You don’t always want to bash orisa but some settings it makes sense especially to get inspire up and stop her push.
Quick note! After JOATS meta, Brig's inspire was nerfed to 5s duration. Otherwise, great guide for Brig newbies. I'm GM3 rn, mainly playing her, and it's crazy how many people don't know how to play her considering how strong she is.
literally had no clue how this hero worked before watching this - your laying of foundations at the start of the video, and then the live commentary to show exactly how to (and how not to) play was great. good video.
I think if they showed the radius of the inspire to other players like they do Lucio then people would understand where they needed to play and Brig would be a better pick. Also put how many people are in your radius like it does Lucio I just started playing her a bit and was shocked at how much healing I was doing in the first few games. But it really depends on the team comp and them understanding what Brig does.
This is easily one of the best guides I've watched. Watching people put into practice the things they're talking about is so simple and effective yet it's not done so frequently. Thank you!
This was so clean, this was really helpful. As a Ball player I confidently tell you brig is an amazing counter but she is a big feed if she positions poorly or wastes bash.
I feel like it's also worth noting that brig having a shield means she arguably benefits from the support passive the most. People don't utilize that passive enough but it's a huge difference-maker. For brig it's as simple as having the shield up for a second.
DUDE. Thank you so much for this video, I had no idea how good Brig was before this video and I practiced like hell last night and I actually did really well. She’s a beast!
I just went from Gold 4 to Diamond 5 with Brig. I love her so much I’m not even gonna lie lol. I started playing at OW2 so I still have a ways to go, but I feel like I’m pretty good for a noob
This video is nothing more than pin point perfect, I've mimicked this exact style of play and dear me I've climbed alot. Tyty for explaining this perfectly.
Man even a Year later this guide is super helpful, I wanted to try out Brigitte, but didn't know how to play her. After watching this Guide today I did not only had good rounds with her, with more or the same amount of heals as the other Support, but even got my first Play of the Game with her 3 days after I first tried her. So even tho she is not the Brawler I imagined her to be, thx to this Guide she is really fun to play and a nice change from my other Characters (Reaper, Reinhardt or Junkrat). Thank you for the amazing Guide 😊
decided to try playing brig after seeing some peeps say shes good, and i was rly struggling but she seemed fun so i watched this video for tips and now shes literally my fav support. dive is so rampant in lower elo and brig is such a nice way to combat dive and her playstyle is so fun i forget im playing support sometimes. anyway, this video was super helpful with giving tips and explanations to her kit. thanks
Brig is fun, and my most used this season. Just found this guide, and I think it's a really good "Beginner to intermediate" level guide. Great break down and mechanics explanations along with the live commentary. Brig has a lot of interactions and some tech not covered here, which is fine. Mastering a character takes time, and knowing the base level is the start. The number one thing I've found while climbing is that if your team knows to anchor around the Brig, they tend to be more successful. For me, the only time I don't play brig is when my other support is either Mercy or Lucio.
This was wayyy more helpful than most overwatch guide videos I've seen! she's like my least played hero and I got a ton of value and info from this video that plat brig players probably aren't aware of. Thank you! I'm also really glad you don't get cocky about making mistakes and that you use them as a lesson because that helps a lot too
As a dps and tank top 500 player I love playing brig in overwatch 2 because her character is all about discipline and limiting mistakes and you don’t need to be flashy
This is exactly what I was looking for. I play a lot of different supports and I've never understood Brig. Thank you. I keep hearing, play with your other support and protect them job #1, but I'm betting that's different with Kiriko who flanks and dives so much. Different story with Ana for example. Samito also kind of does this by stopping the Tracer so often.
Thanks! I'm new in Overwatch, and guides like this one make the game SO much better for newbies like me, because they allow to see the game from so many angles and to have fun playing the whole variety of heroes.
Comparing how much you healed compared to what I do shows the skill dif and how important that inspire is and how useful the packs are. This was brill to teach me brig. Thanks so much!
Just fyi Samito, I want to personally thank you for this very clean and basic breakdown of brig, I absolutely love seeing I can enjoy brig now and just beast so hard each game. That is her literal peak play style and it has proven itself in my game when I replicate your teachings to help improve others play and game sense. Thank you. Thank you 🙏
Great vid! I'm a diamond support in OW1 & 2 who has struggled to adjust to her new kit for OW2. Watched your vid and play style, then just got called the "best brig ever" by my Echo on a control map vs Doomfist.
played brig for the first time today... she is such a fun hero :) after I saw your guide I felt embarressed caus I played her completely wrong :D But now I know and I will learn to play her on the right way :) never thought she is such a fun hero :) thx for the guide :)
I came to your channel to learn echo and honestly found my passion as a support player. 10/10 guides and clear explanations PLUS examples of what to and what not to do. After watching this i went from 3.4k healing games to 7-9k. Almost doubled my potency on one vid thanks a very much for this
I don't think there is another Overwatch content creator as good as Sam. The guides are always logical, precise in terms of cooldowns which makes it a lot easier for low rank players to understand.
This is by far the best format I've found for hero guides. THANKS YOU so much. It's exciting because I know this is an old video and I'm excited to look through your channel and hopefully find more!
Thank you for the guide. So many videos explain that brig is a backline character but don't really go into how inspire works or how to get a bit of damage off so you can proc it. I tend to be a bit aggro when playing her, but now I know a bit more of why the backline is a bit better for my team as opposed to always trying to confirm a kill. Keep up the amazing work, and I hope you have more of these in the future. Hopefully a season 11 breakdown
One of the best guides I saw, explaining everything in details, showing the usage in live combat and explaining on the way... wow it helped me so much! Hope to see more of this content.
I struggle a little with game sense so this might seem like a silly comment, but when do you decide to back out of the fight? Near the end around 17:30 you would brawl a little, back out, go back in, back out, go back in (and then died etc). How do you decide on that? Timing? Feel? It's hard for me to tell when/why you dash out
I think generally speaking you don't want to be a Frontliner as brig so he really only pokes or engages to put up inspire. And so any time you see an opportunity to poke, from the positioning of your teammates drawing attention and having bash as an option to disengage, you would go for it. But hes timing when to disengage I believe basically always because he doesn't want to be up close and on top of them, really only doing so to proc inspire or clean up kills from dps/tank.
To add on to my comment in your timestamp he actually does say "that's when I die, when I miss my flail and I don't have my bash" somewhat supporting what I said before. Missing flail means no inspire and shield means no disengage. He knew it was a risk to commit but misread an opportunity to clean up a team fight. Idk if that helps any but thought I could offer my 2 cents.
I loved brig in ow1 havent played her much recently as I wanted to expand my support pool but this completely changed how I view the character thank you so much!
Just to clarify it takes 3 melees+shield bash+whipshot to kill any 200hp hero. (Tracer dies to bash+melee+whip, widow is melee+bash+melee+whipshot.) if you engage with whipshot, then make sure you are whipping your enemy into a wall or object because if not you will boop them out of range and if they have movement, which most dive heroes do, they will get away before you can secure the kill.
I'm not nearly high enough rank to give really precise advice but here are a couple things I've picked up here that may not super obvious to beginners: 1. If an enemy is out of position, don't whip shot them into safety unless they're low already and you think you can get the kill with it. 2. Don't do dumb things like whip shot an ulting reaper into your team to get him away from you. 3. If your shield breaks and you don't have an immediate exit plan, you're probably screwed. Use whip shot to get the most threatening enemy as far away from you as you can and pray the cooldown comes back before you die. 3a. Therefore, if your shield does not *need* to be up, don't have it up. 4. If you're low rank, counter-punch the doomfist/reinhardt to stun him (only if the spot of the collision is safe enough for you to not die). Your team is probably too monkey brain to follow-up on the kill, but it's a good habit, procs inspire, and causes a few seconds of doomfist downtime. If you're high rank (you probably didn't even watch the video let alone read the commends) doom will probably just avoid you entirely so don't even bother, just whip shot him away.
Thank you, this is super helpful! I really like the style of this guide: explaining it then showing it in a game. When you said "Plat Brig" it hit a little hard, but it explains why I can't move up as brig.
Hey, Sam! You think you could make one for Kiriko as well? I feel like she's in the same camp as Brig where she has massive potential but no one really knows how to play her.
Been getting into brig recently and she is 100% the most fun healer I’ve ever played. I used to play rein so that is probably why because of the shield ability. Definitely one of the most underrated heroes Ps: This video is so good and helpful ❤
The fact that I don't have to brawl with Brig is such news to me. I came here from watching a guy hit once then go shield over and over, and I was freaking out.
This was very helpful. I’ve been trying to learn brig and I now realize how much I’ve been pushing in and dying. One small note at 10:53 against a full health squishy its actually 3 swings, a bash and flail to kill.
"Most important thing is play your life and DO NOT DIE"....it's insane how many people do not understand just how important this concept is, not just for Brigitte but for any hero...
I can't wait to try this on QP this weekend. Thanks for making the guide. I've been dying as Brig a tonne, despite getting lucky with duels and a few highlights. I'll try this out and see how things go.
Just watched this vid and tried her for the night in quick play. It’s like adding extra weight to an already heavy anchor (brig supporting tank). Especially with how fast that ult can charge, it’s like crazy how much she can keep a fight going
This video is great. I really loved how you broke down her mechanics and then demonstrated it in game with commentary. That's putting your money where your mouth is.
Oh my god.. I needed this. I was looking for new heroes to learn instead of mercy, especially when I can't make mercy work and I found that brig is the best option. Now that I understand how to play her. Thank you so much! Much love
I remember one time I was playing brig and for the whole game everytime their rein tried to pin one of my teammates I shield bashed him and knocked him down. It was a proud support moment for me
As a top 500 brig I will say the guide is a little passive. Better brigs are a lot more aggro. I front line a lot more as brig leading the charge with my tank in most cases to get most value. Brig should have a lot of dmg output aswell as just trying to get inspire up. 👍
I really like to play brig because you are basically playing a strategy game with your packs but still have a skill shot factor in the mace every 4 seconds
I play in very high level quickplay matches because i don't like comp. And this was very useful. (I play with the occasional overwatch league member or team). I did know some of this but the shield peaking inspire range and heeling done was all new.
I love that brig is still counter dive, but instead of just straight up stopping a dive with a stun, she instead dives onto the teammate with the enemy but heals the teammate and damages the enemy, her kit is still true to her spirit and imo much improved, hard to tell Sam’s thoughts in this video he’s just displaying his knowledge of the kit not it’s merit, I think she’s in one of the best spots she’s been in, I hope the rally rework is dope
I'm not a super high rank in competitive and I have close to no experience as brig but now I see how useful she is and her play style is so awesome! Can't wait to try her out next time I play
This was a great video! Definitely have a basic gameplan to use here in the low ranks. I didn’t realize how passive she could be except for a few specific moments (mainly with ult) to be a bit more aggro.
Cannot tell you how helpful this video was for me. I have always struggled to pick Brig because I assumed that you had to constantly be brawling to make her work. I'm not nearly high enough rank to give really precise advice but here are a couple things I've picked up here that may not super obvious to beginners:

I can't wait to try this on QP this weekend. Thanks for making the guide. I've been dying as Brig a tonne, despite getting lucky with duels and a few highlights. I'll try this out and see how things go.
Samito guides are always unmatched to any other
Just watched this vid and tried her for the night in quick play. It’s like adding extra weight to an already heavy anchor (brig supporting tank). Especially with how fast that ult can charge, it’s like crazy how much she can keep a fight going
Bro I hope there’s more videos like this explaining the characters in depth
Thanks, this really helped me starting to play brig, especially going into the gameplay after teaching the 101
Amazing video
Love the style where you explain the skills then actually play instead of just showing highlights.
Liked and subbed.
This video is great. I really loved how you broke down her mechanics and then demonstrated it in game with commentary. That's putting your money where your mouth is.
i watched this man back in like 2019. he seems much happier now that he isn't playing hanzo. thanks for the tips
I think this video is perfect in describing how to play Brig honestly. Amazing work
Oh my god.. I needed this. I was looking for new heroes to learn instead of mercy, especially when I can't make mercy work and I found that brig is the best option. Now that I understand how to play her. Thank you so much! Much love
top stuff dude, overall best guide i could have asked for on such a unique hero, thank you! :)
Really taught me a lot i thought i was good but this just really opened my mind to how bad i was thanks man really needed this
Still asking for that unranked to gm mercy climb sam
I remember one time I was playing brig and for the whole game everytime their rein tried to pin one of my teammates I shield bashed him and knocked him down. It was a proud support moment for me
the pro always explains it very simple, thank you
As a top 500 brig I will say the guide is a little passive.
Yes I feel like a qb reading the defense
12:05 doomfist really went *helicopter helicopter*
Best explanation guide I watched till now
great video ive been playing this character completely wrong lmao
I’m so glad you made that mistake at 15:30 so I could learn from it. That’s something I used to do ☠️
You should do this with every hero this was really helpful
I've been playing Brig wrong all this time. Thanks for this!
