Never tried their locking pliers. I've heard good things about them.. but I just built out my collection of eagle grip locking pliers which are amazing! You think I should still grab em? Great video bruh!
KNIPEX makes a lot of unique jaw designs within their locking pliers line up. You might be able to find one that Eagle Grip doesn't offer? I don't have any Eagle Grips myself but I have heard they're top notch tools. Might pick up a set so I can compare the two side-by-side.
Random German here: Your second pronunciation is the correct one. There is no vowel sound between the "K" and the "N".
Anyone saying Kuh-nee-pex has no idea how Germans speak.
First Knipex
Tool is the twin grip with comfort coating cannot wait for Christmas need more Knipex
Extra slim was my first knipex tool! I love it too!!
It’s one of my most used Knipex that’s for sure! Its jaws can fit into some crazy spots
I rate knipex as one of the best pliers manufacturer, all my pliers are red. Tried other people's snap-off and many other popular brands pliers, but they are yet to beat it with price to performance, yes they are a bit more money compared to other manufacturers, but you get what you pay for. 10/10 for the knipex from me.
Well if you're talking tool truck pliers, Knipex doesn't even come close to those in price. I give them a 10/10 as well in terms of variety, design, and quality.
@@TorqueAndTwisted have you seen the snap-off pliers where you can pick up a coin by the edge, we had a snap-off dealer come on and argue with me that those pliers will beat my 4 year old needle nose (38 11 200) that have been used and abused, in the end my hand slipped off and both of us ended up on our ass 😂 so I will keep buying the knipex over any other brand.
@@BorisSpark I have seen that. I show this bar trick using a dime and the Knipex Cycle Pliers (8421200). Super thin and precise jaws. Here's the video:

I give best price to performance to Channellock, but that's because they're about half the price of Knipex and about 80-90% as good. Plus, they're not made in China like so many others at that price point. I give Knipex the best bang for the buck though, because I've never felt like I overspent on a Knipex product, even though I could have gotten away with a US made Channellock or Klein equivalent at half the price. The only thing I can say about Snap-On is they do have some tools that no other maker makes (8" combo flush cutter, slip-joint long nose, exclusive Malco-made Eagle Grip locking pliers, their high-leverage combination pliers, etc.) and their Talon Grip is definitely grippier than any of my other pliers. That said, I have far more Knipex products than any other individual manufacturer for a reason, and cost was not a factor. They really are the most consistent brand I know of and are known for innovating what others are sure to copy.
Ka knee pex. That's how the Germans say it.
If I was in Germany speaking to a German that’s how I’d say it too, until then, I call them “Nippies” for short
2:40 Did you end up using the pipe wrench pliers for oil filters? How did it work out?
I have had the combo for the past year and a half, THERE'S NO BETTER EDC PLIER
The nose is long and slim enough for a lot of tasks, they open well, it's still a pretty solid tip, the pipe grip section can grab decent sized fasteners and diameters, the wire notch works, the needlenose teeth are interlocking, and the cutters are sharp as scissors
One of the best however is that slight curve at the end of the needlenose, that's their "3 point contact design" you can grip flat stock and not have it flop around like traditional pliers
I buried the combos in my “go bag” and really haven’t had much “go bag” work lately. You got me thinking I should put them on my workbench so I can get a lot more use into them. Thanks for watching and dropping a comment ✌️
@@TorqueAndTwisted at home they're the only pliers on my desk and at work i have em on my belt, i work in assembly making industrial machinery, these come in handy for heaps of stuff, 1 year later the cutters also can still cut paper and thread which is just fucking wild. Putting them on your bench as a first choice easy reach is a great move trust me
Done! They're now on the magnetic strip right above my workbench. Thanks for the idea!! Cheers
@@TorqueAndTwisted cheers mate, I'll wait for your next video😂🫶🏻
I used them yesterday to bend some engine cleaning brushes. Not a tough job at all, but the little notch in the jaw was perfect for grabbing the steel wire handle to make the bends so the brushes could reach the odd spots I was cleaning
Eagle grip locking pliers are better tbh. But they also specialize in that
I’ve never had a set of them to compare with. Before these Knipex I had some really old and janky Husky pair that wer giving up in every way. The Knipex were a huge upgrade. Now the Husky’s sit around for those weird “light it on fire” type of jobs 🔥
I second eagle grip locking pliers. They held up to a 1/2” Milwaukee impact on corroded flathead carriage bolts (semi truck dryvan doors). Completed plenty of other tasks that average locking pliers would never dream of doing
@@romandashkevich9780 didn't the Malco plier factory close 2yrs ago?
Thanks a lot for the review! I have quite a few, but enjoy watching people showing and talking about them. At the moment my favorites are 1) Raptor 2) Cobolts 01 160. Love the pliers wrench, but I see it as a bit overrated, I happen to use it quite rarely, more like a some sort of hand vise to squeeze something without marring the surface.
That non-marring part is exactly what I got the plier wrench. If I'm grabbing a tie rod or some other automotive component I don't want to chew it up. Thanks for watching!
That ear clamp plier would make a very good zip tie cutter, not as nice as the individual zip tie snips, but it has the cutters on both angles at once.
As for my favorite pair of pliers. It’s gonna have to be my set of xl cobras. The bigger jaw works up to 3.5” and the amount of leverage you can put on them is insane. I mainly bought them for doing a handful of jobs in heavy diesel where you need to hold onto something large and round, like turning shafts or lining up splines, but I’ve found myself using them for filters, larger bolts, hydraulic cylinders, and hydraulic fittings.
Of course I love all my knipex tools, and prefer them greatly over snapon, but some tools are just not made by knipex, like the all in one auto electrical pliers from snapon, which do have a knipex competitor, but not in the same form factor
Knipex has gotta be one of the best bang for buck brands out there when it comes to pliers. A step up in price from most retail pliers but 100 steps up in quality
At the moment, my Twin Grip is my best....Using it for a lot of different things and it hasn't failed yet!!!!
I absolutely love the twin grip, it’s my most used pair of pliers in the shop
Buy once cry once! Mini bolt / HT wire cutters as a fencer are a go too.
I think Knipex is a heck of a deal at their price points for the quality. Most “daily” style Knipex pliers are generally under $40
Drool!! I just got my first knipex tool this week after watching all ur videos!! Got the pliers wrench. I am interested in possibly the cobra bolt cutters and the twin grips
The TwinGrips are one of my favorites, they get used in the garage every single day. Thanks for watching! Cheers pal
The mini bolt cutters are BEAST!! Don't cheap out trying to buy imitation ones like I did. I tried the imitation ones ONLY after already buying a good 5 knipex ones. As soon as I had the Capri ones in my hand I felt instant regret. There's something about that German steel. It feels soo good. I got the Capri ones riding around in my truck as backups.. Also there are several variations in the bolt cutters. You want the one 71-01-200. Those have jaws that are flush and have small lines to help grip whatever your cutting so it doesn't slip out. And don't think I bought 5 pairs because they wore down.. I did so that I could have one readily available at all times. My first pair lasted me a good 10 years of everyday abuse in the railyard. I only took those out of rotation because I wanted something to remember my early years. They're beat to sh it. But I still smile everytime I see them.
@@Saikocity thanks for the recommendation, I've got those bolt cutter bookmarked on Amazon now. 👍
Thanks for the review,
I didn’t buy into Knipex past the cobras and pliers wrench. I have the twin grips too
I’m a residential plumber. They are all must haves for me. Literally the best technology one can apply to that task, every single day.
The vise grips look like a good idea because I trust the brand to provide a strong Tool you can easily rely on.
If you use vice grips a lot, Knipex makes some great locking plier designs that might come in handy in the plumbing world. They make all types of different jaw designs that I don't see most brands offering. Cheers and thanks for watching!
Excellent
