There is one thing missing from this video. ASUS has done a rather dumb thing! My son just installed an ASUS TUF Gaming Z690-Plus WiFi D4 ATX Gaming Motherboard (with Intel core I7 12 Gen). Everything installed ok, except the BIOS could no longer see a "Boot Device". (We panicked!) To cut a long story short, we discovered a setting called "Compatibility Service Module". This option is defaulted to "Off", which tells BIOS to look for a boot device that's on a M2 drive. So, if you run into the above issue after installing a new MB and your boot device is a standard SSD / Hard drive you MUST change this setting. (Why the bios is not smart enough to check all drives for a boot sector is baffling to me).
It was about 2 hours looking for the solution on UA-cam tel I came here, and guess what was the problem? It was the date 3 minutes earlier than it should be. 😆 How funny, and I was thinking my lap is dead for sure. Anyway thanks bro you are a live saver.
Just got an i7 10700k and an ASUS Z490 and had some older drives. My BIOS is newer so it wasn’t exactly like this, but this still gave me some pointers on where to look and after switching one option from UEFI to Legacy, I was up and running. Thanks for everything.
@@PC_Monkey I just bought the same specs as Nolendo did and going through the same issue. I switched to legacy and it finally popped up the windows icon as it loaded… only for it to tell me the pc needs to restart as there is a problem. Where do I go from here?

Just a few months ago so I didn't understand how it could give me the error, no bootable drives. We lose power frequently here in Puerto Rico so I attributed it to that. Thanks a lot! My problem with booting from ssd was solved at 4:00 min of your vid by switching legacy modes! Amazing! (Worked for asus proart z490 mobo)
Just now, I fixed my Laptop. It all started when I got an unexpected restart and I got that "Repairing disk Error" screen. I left it on for at least 12 hours until I knew something was wrong. Followed through your videos and thought it was the OS system error. But as soon as the installation from my flashdrive stopped mid-way and refuse to delete the disk space, it was a failed HDD. Eventually, I got a replacement and it works fine but lost my 2-year data. Gonna buy an External Hard Drive next. Thanks for posting this!!!
You got my like. I just upgraded the mobo in my desktop to a Asus ROG Strix Z690 and it wouldn’t detect my older nvme drive to boot from. Changing to legacy mode did the trick. I should have known this lol. I was a laptop repair tech for Lenovo for 2 years. As soon as you mentioned UEFI and legacy etc I was like “aha!” Thanks brother
I appreciate your video I had a newer bios page and did not think it would work for me but I decided to stick with it. I turned on legacy mode and turned off fast boot and finally got it to work. I did all this after I updated my bios to the newest version thinking that was the problem but it didn't fix it. All these problems started after I switched to 3700x from 2700

Happy to help :) Always here if needed !! Nice job seeing the repair through !!
