    Funny to see so many people calling this click bait because they ASSUMED the laser in the DVD drive had anything to do with the project. I wonder if any of you ever built anything in your life. To make the CNC aspect of this with just the mechanical guts of 2 DVD drives, an Arduino, and some scrap aluminum/wood/screws is incredibly impressive. Well done, Daniele!

    I love that project, thanks for sharing! If you mount the bottom plate at the top (the x-axis) you could construct the device in a way that you can place it on any size of sheet to engrave. Due to the fact that I often want to burn a small logo on bigger sheets of wood or plastic I will try to build it that way round. The engraving size stays the same but you can place it on e.g. a table and engrave that with your logo. :D Keep up the good word, Daniele.

      @@Dancopymus check out the kkmoon laser engraver in comparison with a small neje engraver on ali express and you will understand what I mean. ;) I mean instead of burning on a bottom plate do not use a bottom plate and leave it open. Therefor you need to turn the construction upside down. Hard to explain but pretty simple to do... do you get what I mean?

    • @dryan8377
      @dryan8377 3 роки тому +2

      @@Dancopymus What he means is he can use this on a large piece of wood to engrave small things on it. So the bottom axis no longer moves as it's attached to the top carraige.

    WOW that was an awesome video! Very informative without talking!
    You've captured a great deal of information without all the chatter. Many people out here like myself learn from watching. I tend to loose interest when someone is talking about what they're doing instead of doing it.
    They will spend 20 talking about it and 10 minutes showing, while you're video wasn't even 20 minutes long!

    Amazing- I may do this one!! Thanks for sharing your rad innovative projects!!
    Something very useful and a HUGE time saver: if you have a carbide-tooth blade mounted on your table saw ( fairly common today), it is perfectly fine to use bcutting the soft aluminum components. The angle stock and even the tubing can be cut without suffering any damage or premature wear as it is Much softer than tungsten carbide. (Mohs scale: Al=2.5-3
    Tu/Ca =8.5-9) you get the time savings as well as straight consistent results as opposed to hacksaw or other non-fixed methods

    Veramente una figata, complimenti!!
    Piuttosto io proverei a posizionare una ventola che permetta alla superficie da incidere, di raffreddarsi più velocemente al passaggio del laser, in modo da avere delle linee più definite.
    Proverei anche a sfruttare come sistema di pilotaggio del laser dei BJT usati come interruttore, che cambierebbero il loro stato più rapidamente rispetto ad un relè, che a parer mio potrebbe non rispondere bene a impulsi molto rapidi tra accensione e spegnimento.

    Keep in mind that lasers are very dangerous, you don’t see the danger in your eyes immediately and damage in your retina is irreversible.

    Ottimo progetto! Ricordatevi di mettere sempre gli occhiali protettivi, col laser basta un frazione di secondo per diventare ciechi a vita!
    Nota: basta anche un riflesso, non te ne accorgi neanche, e ti ritrovi un buco nella retina, col laser non si scherza.

      Piuttosto bisogna stare attenti per se stessi perché si adopera laser di classe IV, classificati come pericolosi per gli occhi e pelle. Inoltre su superfici riflettenti potrebbero causare incendi. Quindi occhio ragazzi!
