About The Museum of Classic Chicago Television:
The MCCTv (FuzzyMemoriesTV) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose primary mission is the preservation and display of off-air, early home videotape recordings (70s to early 80s, mostly) recorded off of TV (in Chicago or other cities now too); things which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. If you have any old 1970s videotapes recorded off of TV please email: tapes@fuzzy.tv Even though (mostly) short clips are displayed here, we preserve the entire broadcasts in our archives - the complete programs with breaks (or however much is present on the tape), for historical preservation. For information on how to help in our mission, to donate or lend tapes to be converted to digital, please e-mail tapes@fuzzy.tv Thank you for your help! - Розваги
I was a member. I remember the camp outs and the beaded necklaces with the bear claws. Good times!
Join The Y, That's An Totally Great Classic Commercial!
i was in that as a kid
What kind of activities did they have for you?
@@ChrisConnolly-Mr.C-Dives-In In the '60s at least, it was a Father-Son thing. Everyone got indian names-- example: my Dad's was "big oak" and mine was "little acorn" LOL! I remember going on at least one camping trip. Everyone got a headband and I think you could earn feathers for it kind of like merit badges, but I don't recall all that well-- it was a LONG time ago and we moved after about a year of it and didn't pick it up again after the move.
@@Syncopator sounds like a great time.
@@ChrisConnolly-Mr.C-Dives-In i was around 10, i would characterize it as 'team-building' type stuff and some basic skill w socializing. i recall remembering everyone's "tribe" name, arts n craft type stuff and eventually a week at a campground, identifying things and wild scavenger hunt … typical 'boy stuff'. when we completed a task, instead of 'badges' like the scouts formerly known as boys, we got a different colored feather. it was less paramilitary than bsa and to this day, i'm not a 'joiner'. … good times.
@@Syncopator greeting, little acorn, i am called running deer … or something … i don't completely recall, but yeah, there was the emphasis of father w son as opposed to some random troop leader taking your kid for a couple hours and the naming was big/little themed. we made balsa wood tomahawks.
OMG! I went to *one* Indian Guides meeting with my father, and we left about 15 minutes later. This has long been a '70s curiosity for me.
I was the early 70's for me. Like riding a duck at the Dells.....so.eone will understand out there
Wisconsin Dells...I remember, but my town had it's own ymca, but it was overrun by gang activity/thieves.
The ducks at the dells were the best.
That young man is the member, i said “YOUNG MAN”.
It's fun to stay at the Y.M.C.A.
They have everything for young men to enjoy
You can hang out with all the boys
It's fun to stay at the Y.M.C.A.
After being banned and being targeted by an older woman at the y for alleged noise it's no longer fun to join the YMCA
"Just make sure you're far away from the sauna!"
Lol what’s going on in the thumbnail
So this is where Elizabeth Warren attended
Is that kid throwing stuff in the bears enclosure?
Hey, they didn't even do the YMCA dance. 😉😂🤣
