On the topic of Skyward Sword at the start, It's interesting how the game turned out the way it did solely because of the Wii's hardware limitations, according to Aonuma. We likely would have gotten a game more like Tears of the Kingdom had the Wii been up to the task.
It's easy to see how much Aonuma wanted there to be less linearity when you view it with a critical lens. The surface areas individually are pretty open and consist of non-linear sequences, such as finding Kikwis or terminals in order to progress to the dungeons. The dungeons themselves often allowed for various puzzles to be completed in different orders, as well, much like A Link to the Past.
It's something that's unfortunately rarely, if ever talked about, especially by the game's critics.

Honestly, that's something I've never really seen discussed. It's been a while since I've played Skyward Sword so that'll definitely be something I look into next time I play it.

@@soliddijoIt would have been nice for the second half to open up even more and allow for the dungeons to be completed in any order like the Song of the Hero quest (which should have been axed entirely). It definitely would have gone a long way towards the reception. What's worse is the level design only needs minor tweaks to for this to be possible.
I also forgot to mention the Silent Realms allowing for all the tears to be acquired in any order. It's surprising how much non-linearity there is in Skyward Sword despite the overarching campaign being quite railroaded!

In recent years I've lost a lot of my passions as I've had to sacrifice things to survive and keep bills and rent paid. The ending message in your video is giving me hope that I can find those passions again, make time, ask questions, and keep growing. Great video about one of my favorite games of all time that I constantly revisit! Thank you!

I'm glad you enjoyed it! It's difficult as an adult to make time for those things. You've got this!

I'm a manager that works 55-60 hrs a week and I have a kid and yet this game has infused in my every thought in the past 3 months. I probably have one more month or so left until I can consider myself satisfied....unless I dive into Master Mode. Great video man!
