You couldn't of wished for a better moment as a film maker than those two lovers at the end with the lamppost... a serendipitous moment of beautiful time captured forever... utterly lovely, haunting and mesmerising at the same time...

    I want a Hippy bell.
I was given a big one and a small one by a group of Hippies in Hyde Park when I was a little girl in the 1960s.
I have since lost them both but the memory of that experience is with me forever... I'll never forget it, it was glorious!!!!! ✌️🌺💐🧡❤️💚💛💙💜

Man this just sums it up. I was 4/5 when this was shot and started on red bus rovers in about 71/72 and I wish I could go back to that time.I know people say it is better now cos it was hard then etc but to me NO WAY MAN London is as stated literally a bag of shit thrown in from everywhere. All London has is its history and all those people in this clip are dead or have moved out of London like me I am sad to say.
    Thanks for this clip

Went to Carnaby Street back in the early 60's and 70's with my Mum, Dad, Brother and my brother's wife Jean, good atmosphere with good fashion and of course the music of the times. I went on to play organ in local Devon group, my brother Keith Jones played drums with some named groups which included live and studio work over many many years and being a Christian he worked with a lot of Christian groups as well, but has now retired to Cornwall. Love and Peace, God Bless. Psalm 23. Google You Tube Jules & Keith uploads to hear some of the music sessions.

That was rad, you can actually see how they're giving sly glances to see who's looking at them in their utterly modern clothes. You can also tell there are 'normal' older folk simply passing through to have a gawk. What an incredible period in time, it must've felt so radical. Can anybody comment and tell me what it was like?

    • @garypautard1069

Yes Nigel I was 17 at that time . We did not realise we were in the middle of a special time. British industry was booming especially in the construction industry ,and the government aided apprenticeships. Lot's of jobs. There was an explosion of art not just music but art in many forms ( mostly modern) and fashion designs and an interest in Indian culture , like sitar playing and meditation. There was a feeling of euphoria not just the UK but globally also . Being British was considered really cool and if you look at the faces in the video you can see there was an expectancy that there was belief that it was always going to be the same. Sadly the days of summer vanished by the late 70s and by 1980 gloom set in.

    MINISKIRT A little history
The miniskirt was created by Lucien David LANGMAN, Master Tailor of the Jean Raymond house in 1959. Mary QUANT, the British woman, bought 2 miniskirts cut by Lucien David Langman at the Boutique des Arts in Saint Tropez and paraded them on a young model of 16 years TWIGGY in New York in 1966. The Miniskirt creations of Lucien David Langman and the aspiring model were a success in NEW YORK and launched Mary Quant to the forefront #LucienLangman #jeanraymond

Depends what kind of Mods -hipster types yes but the average working class mod never grew their hair and was already a "hard mod" by 1966 and by the start of the 1968/69 football season (so summer 1968 like this clip) West Ham United and a few other London teams had their first numbers of skinheads.
