Very Cool ! Bought mine two weeks ago. Love the "Mother Ship" part !!!!

The increased power is solely due to the side pipe and map to match. The S bend over the old ST tire was causing both a restriction and a longer than normal exhaust. now with the side pipe, it can naturally give more power and under seat storage as a bonus. I have just put a new 1050 engine into my 955st so I get all the advantages you mention including a longer wheel base, more power and not the weight of the GT. my comments were also heard by triumph, but i did not ask for a heavier bike.

@2WF Hey no problem. I actually bought a Concours14 in March of this year. I couldn't be happier. Thanks for your reply though.

I've enjoyed sprint st since my first one in 99. The st I have now, I sometimes ride up to 400 miles a day. Most dependable. after reviewing you video I think I will stay with It. I would like to eventually put a 1050 engine in her but, have no idea how and where to get one.

Wanted to give my opinion as an owner in the event anyone is looking to pick up a used Sprint GT (Which is a home run bargain in the ST market). I'm 6'0" with a size 12 shoe. On top of that, I wear an ADV boot, the Rev'It Pioneer Outdry boot which is a large boot, not nearly as small as some touring boots and I have zero problems with the foot peg and rear peg mount interfering with my boots. I've taken this bike on many 600+ mile days and despite the sporty riding position it's all day comfortable, best stock seat on any bike I've ridden. Buy one, replace the levers and ride the living shit out of it. Nothing sounds like a Triumph triple!

Great review! How would you compare thus bike to the FJR? I have been looking at the Sprint GT, but my dealer keeps pushing me towards the FJR (they sell both). I will be doing a lot of 2-up riding as well. I usually only put about 3,000-4,000 miles on per season. the other thing I noticed is that I tend to lean forward more on the Sprint GT than the FJR. Your comments are appreciated. Thanks.

I had a 2006 st abs for 4 yrs. Great bike. here's what I think: yes, they improved a lot of comfort type issues. I never rode 2 up so was not a concern.
The looks are not even close to the ST. the ST was much better looking. It was the exhaust that was beautiful, downside being it had severe issues with heat. The midpipe being the culprit. fixed but ugly. I had a trident on mine and regeared it. I wheelied the shit out of mine and eventually went to a Z1000. Fits my riding style better.

Sprint GT owner, 6'0" with a size 13 boot and I have zero problems with the foot peg situation. What makes matters even more interesting is that I wear Rev It Pioneer ADV boots which are pretty chunky compared to your normal sport boot and still have zero issues. This is the best bike I've ever owned in 19 years of riding, the triple is super sweet with torque everywhere and the front brakes were fixed with some fairly inexpensive ($50) aftermarket levers and some upgraded pads, they are phenomenal now. I've done some really long (700+ mile) days on it and I couldn't be happier. One of the best parts about the bike is that you don't see it at every stop like the FJR/Concours or every sport touring BMW, nice to ride something different.

The "Mother Ship" part is awesome. I hear that EXACT same group of sounds every time I take my girl in the garage.
I have had a Hayabusa, zx14, and many others but none make sounds like my Sprint.
    Thanks for the info.

i have a sprint st 955i. it has almost the same exhaust note as this new machine. I noticed all 955i and 1050i triple engines make tick, tick, tick sound seems to me like cam chain tensioner failure . I recently bought a new bike GSXR1000, it's much quieter at the valve train. So when I hopped back on my sprint I thought there was something wrong with the valves or cam chain. But after I watched several videos on youtube, I think it's just a character that these triples have.

Great review, all the elements to consider when buying a bike like this' for me deal breaker is that I would struggle to ride this with the balls of my feet on the pegs, this is poor control on the bike and so would't buy this one - Gutted as I'll have to keep looking for a replacement for my VFR :-(

No no no. The sound of that bike is the Terminator waking up. Beware not to get terminated.

Good review. I think if you could organize your thoughts a little better before hitting the "record" button, your narration would move along at a better pace. It was a little tedious waiting for you while you searched for the point you wanted to make. Otherwise, I thought you did a fair critique of the bike.

Don’t like the ultra widescreen aspect. Totally distorts the bikes image

whats with the widescreen makes bike look rubbish waste of time vid
