The thing is it's hard to satisfy both ends. The kpop fans and the metal head fans. Haha you know what I mean. Of course I also prefer more rock and metal stuff. Latest comeback focuses to attract more kpop fans. I think that's why they tone down the lead guitar a little bit. Honestly I'm satisfied with this track. They got all the elements that I like
So true! Some fans want them to go hard with their songs but some fans don't want to. It's really hard to please everyone at the same time but they always keep their promise on staying with the rock/metal influences on their songs like they said!🙂 I'm between, I want to see them go hard but also switch things around. Though, PR perspectives, what they're doing right now attracts more new fans. At least they give us some of other genres in their b sides and some Japanese releases. As for me, this new song is great because it fits well with summer and horror at the same time. Definitely playful and so Dreamcatcher.
@@Momochan144528 I'm in the middle too. I don't mind them go hard and love their experimental element within genre. Also I'm a sucker for ballad and they have the most beautiful voices.
they went with more a pop chorus to fit in with the 'bright summer bop' theme, well their version of it :)
but yeah among their title tracks the chorus unusually dropped in intensity although did pick back up in the post chorus.
the song at its basic layer is about obsessive love but could be interpreted at a deeper level as ones inner duality conflict since they used a lot of alice in wonderland and movie us references.
only dreamcatcher can call this concept ‘bright summer bop’

It's summer over in south korea so groups usually release happy/cute/summery songs - and this is Dreamcatchers take on a summer album (hah!) - lets go to a dark abandoned theme park.
The lyrics aren't up yet on the official music video, but the chorus line is a bit of wordplay around 'SAD, 'cause I like you'
The rest of the album is a lot more summer-like, the sort of driving music or some city pop to listen to whilst relaxing on an aussie beach - 'Whistle' and 'Alldaylong' are both great!

Dreamcatcher are outdoing themselves here once again. Musically, the song is a fantastic journey. There actually are "cute" parts, but there also are parts where the guitars go full metal. The variations in BEcause remind me of their previous masterpiece, Deja Vu. The bridge with SuA's slow rap and Yoohyeon's adlibs is possibly the most beautiful one they have ever done.
About the meaning: According to Dami, BEcause is about love becoming obsession. And also, this is a stand-alone story. They go back to their horror roots, which I really enjoy. One commenter noted that if you look at "BE" as a written Chinese character "悲“, that would mean "sadness". So the song title would mean "The Cause of Sadness". And that would make the lyric "because I like you" to maybe mean "the cause of sadness is I like you". That commenter is Jad Hamizan and he deserves all the credit for noticing that.
The video picks up on that. JiU seems to be the puppet master here (or her doppelganger!). She is the one trapping the other members and turning them into puppets, but Gahyeon tries to escape (as you can see by her throwing off the cage right in the beginning). It seems JiU catches her again though, "because she likes her". And I didn't even include the references to the movie "Us" yet, there is so much going on. The lyrics are even creepier. SuA sings: "Your expression is blue, blue. Your face is like ocean view.", hinting at strangulation due to the one being obsessed taking things way, way too far. Dreamcatcher are clearly not afraid to tackle the difficult subjects, and they do it masterfully here - again. For me, this is more than just pop, it is art.
DREAMCATCHER ENDLESS NIGHT, been waiting for months its metal
It's so great to see so many fellow Aussies discover Dreamcatcher (and greater, K-pop) due to their rock/metal sound! I saw your reaction to 'Odd eye' too, so it's great that you guys are still keen on reacting to Dreamcatcher.
My understanding of the arrangement of this song is that it's "mirror-imaged" in a way.
The first few sections of the song are quite timid (the "crisp", controlled snare for that imagery, if you like) and "pop-like" in sound, in Dreamcatcher standards. There's then this rock break-down at the end of the chorus into their more typical sounds, or at least building up to that point. This could be possible musical imagery telling the story of this almost "descent into madness" type of emotion you feel, as they try to escape the control and possession of their doppelgängers.
At the end of the song, you see the opposite of the start, where it's very heavy in it's sound and visually harsh in it's cinematography and transitions. This contrasting effect is also shown in the ending scene where the ladies are all back in the lobby again, but if you look closely, you'll see that the woman in the middle, centre-shot is holding a now "empty" hourglass. At the start of the video, she turns said hourglass over, "starting the time", in a way. This suggests that their attempts at escaping this world are all cyclical in nature, repeating over and over again until there's a breach in this world's functioning and developed hierarchy.
If interested, you guys should check out some of the analysis videos on here (especially the one some else already suggested), as this mv is greatly connected to the lore from the group's other two large eras (the 'Nightmare' (~2017-2019) and 'Dystopia' (~2020-early 2021) eras). There are many small hidden references in the music, setting, choices in cinematic shots, outfits, choreography, etc.
Did you guys happen to notice the 'Psycho' (1960 film) call-out in the first rap segment and the heavily-influenced choreography from the movie, 'Us' (2019 film)? There are also many other pop culture references, such as 'Alice in Wonderland' and there's also this 'Für Elise' glissando sung on multiple occasions by the woman with the red hair (Gahyeon).
Anyway, thank you two for this reaction and I hope you can continue to stick around for future comeback releases. If you guys have any friends into creepy sort of rock content, please spread the word for us! I hope you guys are staying safe wherever you are, too. 🤘

-> '悲' means Sadness / sad
Because + cause SADNESS = 'BE'cause
2. The story is about love turned into obsession
3. and this MV is 'Us(Movie, 2019)' and the doppelganger concept
= it's their officials
so, their lyrics are very very sweet
but, their melodies and expressions are very aggressive and creepy

If it hasn't been said before, it is worth going back to their first songs as they have a darker and more rock/metal sound. A few good songs to look up are chase me , you and I and what.

This was their “summer holiday” release. Kpop groups always have a summery release and DC did one but DC style which is awesome. But that could be the reason behind some of the music choices. Dunno but it’s a thought. So it’s still metal but summertime metal 🎸☀️
Nath & Johnny are metalhead and recommend B-side such as Tension, Break The Wall, and others are fit to their ears. In here, they look awkward because the song is less Rock than usual. But it's okay, sometimes DC need to be more Pop to get views especially form Korean. Also, they want to get 1st win in Korean music show.

The video has a similar storyline as the horror movie US. If you know the movie or the reference then this video and song gets even better.
i definitely recommend reacting to Endless Night by Dreamcatcher, its one of their most metal-y/rock-y songs and i think u guys would absolutely love it!

At first I was a little let down this wasn’t as hard as I might have liked, but they did tell us it was a special mini album , exploring different sounds and styles. In my mind it’s almost like a hall pass , go do whatever you want but come home when you’re done. I liked a couple of the bsides too, whistle and alldaylong were surprise hits for me.
I hope they go hard for their next full album for their title track, meanwhile thanks for the reaction! Always appreciate your honest reactions and see you next time.

At first sight, it might seem that the song "BEcause" is about toxic/abusive relationships and destructive behavior out of love for a particular person, but it is not. The meaning is different, and it is much deeper.
Let's start with the fact that the very name "BEcause" can be interpreted as "The cause of sadness", because "BE" in Chinese is a hieroglyph meaning "sadness", and "cause" is an English word. This turns the whole view of the song.
The lyrics in essence about deception (primarily about self-deception) and being obsessed with someone. The MV and song contain the message that our worst enemy is none other than ourselves - the culprits of our sadness. It's not so much that Dreamcatcher was replaced by doubles at the end, but that their dark side, which eventually took over the other, is revealed as the true self as a result of a growing obsession with the obsessive desire to be loved, which pushes them into an endless cycle, where they simultaneously act as perpetrators and victims, as well as puppeteers and puppets.
The clip was inspired by the American movie "We" about evil doubles who decided to replace real people (you can see many references, including in the choreography itself). There, as in "BEcause", there are two colors - red and blue. Red represented doubles, while blue represented originals. In the Dreamcatcher clip, it will be the other way around. Red implies their real, while blue is their ideal version. Each time they pretended to be their ideal version (the hourglass symbolizes the temporary nature of pretense and deception), which to some extent brought them satisfaction, but actually played with them, which caused them pain, but since they were unable to resist the temptation (the dark side of Sua, holding out another an apple that she bites off), they continued to wear masks. They wanted to be always loved, and in fact it did not matter who, but with their obsession and creepy behavior, the girls only repulsed others even more. In the end, they reveal their true selves, with the naive hope that the loved one will nevertheless remain on their side. When their true self begins to manifest, some damage has already been done, and it will not be possible to escape from themselves and their sadness.

This comeback they want to attract K-Pop fans, especially Korean Fans which not really into "metal-rock" thing.
That is why they put less rock and metal elements.

Totally get you on the part where they could’ve make it more powerful, like the use of real drums & stuff.
But I kinda get it after learning the fact that this song & the album are leaning towards bright, summer holiday mood.
Hence probably why they’re a bit toned down

You should probably check out their Japanese tracks if you want more metal; while they refuse not to stick to their concept (which stops them really getting big in Korea because they're really not up for the rock sound), they do tone it down for the Korean tracks. The Japanese are much more open to it, so those tracks crank it up.
If you like Metal and Kpop, then you will LOVE "Poison" by Pink Fantasy! They take heavy duty inspiration from heavy metal rather than pop pubk and rock
