"Reason" is the fan-song for Dreamcatcher's 6th anniversary. I can't even begin to describe how proud I am of them. They're flexing their rock and vocal muscles, while all three rappers make an appearance. InSomnia might be lifting them up, but they should know, they are also carrying us. Happy 6th anniversary, Dreamcatcher! Can you imagine this song live? With us InSomnia going Whoooo-whoooaaa and them singing over it? 😊 I wouldn't be surprised if the animations were done by a fan, I seem to recognize the style. Whoever did them, they did a great job. I see the book from the Nightmare arc, the mask from Scream, the gun from R.o.S.E Blue, the gagged bust from Boca, the cup from Odd Eye, the hand through the mirror from Good Night and the clock from Piri. Musically, I am in heaven. I'm a metalhead and I love the song. AND THAT RIFF! 🤘🎸 Obviously the song is an absolute anthem! If you can afford it, please remember to purchase the MP3. I got mine from Amazon, and I love listening to the instrumental as well!
On the award thing - other groups that debuted around the time as Dreamcatcher have dozens (and some cases dozens more) wins in these multiple weekly competitive shows that are a feature of the kpop scene. Dremacatcher had exactly zero - and had the habit of always losing to each year's new groups for 5 years in a row to add to the disappointment. That is until April of last year when they won twice - which is why they wanted to commemorate it in a mv.
As an Aussie Insomnia, this song is so special. It’s definitely for the fans and the imagery really resonates to the people who have supported them. Dreamcatcher have been the underdogs in a brutal, competitive industry that often doesn’t reward being unique or having an image that is outside of the box. These ladies are so talented and hard working, and it is amazing that they are one of the rare 3rd Gen Kpop groups that are still active, and thankfully DC are continuing to expand their fanbase. Thanks for the reaction 😊
Thank you for reacting to this! Some additional Info from inside their fandom, in case you are interested: - This is a special for their 6th anniversary, as it fell on a Friday for the first time since their debut (Firday January 13th 2017) - The clips are from concerts and fan events, starting at their debut ("Chase Me", MV inspired by a horror movie, the black short dresses in the beginning) up to today - The outfits in the animated segments are each from an old album/title track (JiU - Fly High, SuA - What, Siyeon - Odd Eye, Handong - Vision, Yoohyeon - Maison, Dami - Piri, Gahyeon - Boca) - The emotional clip at the line "We are always with InSomnia, We can spend more time" is them getting their first win on one of the weekly TV music shows, which is kind of a big deal for any Kpop group, since it's a door opener for award shows and stuff (they are the group with the longest time from debut to first win, currently, at over 5 years, most groups disband before that if they don't get the verification of a win). In their Vlog of that, you can hear one member say something like "let's go back, it's not us anyway. it's never been us" and they stopped naming a first win as their goal for the year after it didn't happen in 2021, assuming it wouldn't happen anymore and not wanting to disappoint fans again. - This line has also been said to be "So now, holding this pain" 2.0, a famous line/part of one of their older songs called "Deja Vu", as both are sung by Handong and have the same vibe - The symbol in the animated eye towards the end is their logo - The person in the cloak holding the lightstick (yes, they have a cloak as merchandise) represents InSomnia, their fans who always are with them
dreamcatcher \:D/ yes you are right, it's a fan song, their 6th anniversary gift to their fans, insomnias :D well dreamcatcher isn't metal so it's hard to compare them to metal groups from a metalhead perspective. in the end it's pop since they are heavily vocal focused but with a splash of all genres including rock/metal instrumentation to varying degrees.
It's normal that Dreamcatcher aren't holding up with Babymetal or such. Dreamcatcher is a pop girl group, while Babymetal, well, is a metal band. Most of Dreamcatcher's discography isn't rock. Or not even rock influenced. They are ultimately a korean pop girl group with a sound which incorporate rock elements. I still love them to the moon and back. I can have my rock from Slipknot, Slayer, The Pretty Reckless, or any other band I listen to. :-)
No. About 70% of dreamcatcher's songs relate to rock and its subgenres (including, for example, nu metal (pop fusion) or metalstep). I went a little crazy and did a genre analysis (purely for myself, maybe I'll post it sometime) of their entire discography, spending all my free time on the weekend
Not trying to tell you how to run your channel or nothin'... but about God damn time. EDIT: Yeah, this was a special single they released for their 6th anniversary for the fans. That in itself is a big deal considering that of the 30+ 3rd gen (2013-2017) girl groups that debuted, they are one of the only ten left active - the others contain some of the heaviest hitters in the industry like Blackpink, TWICE, Mamamoo etc, so we're talking rarified air. For a group from a small company that's purposefully going against the grain and delivering a sound that's not popular in their homeland, it's a hell of an achievement. Most people had them slated to disband within a couple of years max, but they have found a huge following overseas and are doing really well as a touring act, recently renewing their contracts (well before they expired) and prettymuch making the transition from "a kpop group with a rock base" into "a rock group with a kpop base" (first kpop act to ever be invited to Primavera Sound last year). It's been an interesting ride.
cool reaction videos, watched a lot of them you guys cover alot of my favorite metal bands, this one was random but good hah. show the arms workout nath
I really like this track and the message, though it doesn't cling onto me unlike many other songs by Dreamcatcher. I listened to it a few times and then I didn't feel the desire to repeat again, rather going back to Vision, Fairytale or older songs. Hard to explain, but still much love to them^^ glad you liked it
It's been that way for a long time now. You can go back 10-12 years and see the kitchen sink approach starting to come into play strongly. But also there's a bit of a problem with the "kpop" label in that people tend to think of it as the one thing. The pop, like everywhere else, is short of popular - and when you look at our popular music charts, it's fair to say that Ed Sheeran, Cardi B, Foo Fighters, Imagine Dragons, Childish Gambino and Post Malone don't all sound the same (insert your own 5-6 examples at will). Rock is never going to become a dominant force in Korea again (it's a story), but you can see Dreamcatcher's influence over the past six years with other girl groups (and some boy bands) starting to dip their toes into more guitar-driven songs (G-Idle's "Tomboy", Billie's "Ring Ma Bell", etc) to the point where it's widely acknowledged in general as "doing the Dreamcatcher thing". There are some great Korean rock bands out there, as an aside... although the current trend these days is more of the indie lo-fi kinda style which is definitely a YMMV scenario. Having said that, Se So Neon are truly one of a kind.

Can't wait to see if KCore replaces KPopas a genre, because it seems like the genre has gone far beyond Pop as its main element in the music.
