- A day where my main goal was to catch one lighting trout, turned into a day where I break my personal best trout record twice. The second time it was broken was with a fish of a lifetime.

The day started off really slow. It must have been from the rain a few days prior and the fact that they had a delay in the stocking truck and stocked at 3am rather than the full day before. Had to work to get a limit today, but that LAST fish was something truly special.

Been fishing there for 40 years when it was 8.00 dollars to get in. 12.5 is my personal best. That was a HOG u landed. Congrats Rod ! Love ur videos.
A lot of people will snub their nose at this because they put them in there like that, and they don't fight hard at all... but that's still an incredible catch you'll never forget. Good job not rushing it in, even if it's not fighting, the weight alone will snap lines. Congrats dude!!

Nice man! They definitely stock some nice fish at SARL. I can totally relate, had one nice one that spit the hook after a good fight on that same day. Forgot to turn on my camera on my head, but it was a nice fight. Actually better fight than the 23 pounder.

@@seanhartnett6923 you know I was just thinking about that. If/when I catch another good sized trout I’ll do a catch and cook. When my family split up the big trout and had it cooked I regretted not recording some of the recipes.

@@MXJD10 Yup. I fish with the bail open so there's little to no tension for the trout to feel.

I caught it on a Berkley mice tail in Chartreuse and White. Current lake record is 28 lbs.

Trout always taste better when their flesh is orange to red in color. Either they have lived in very cold water or their feed was high quality or the strain of the trout.@@pokedad.fishes
