Whoa, glad to see u got a big jump in subscribers! I think just a week ago it was a 1/3 of that. The quality is showing, very cool to see the growth! I got to try sarl at least once every season😂. I skunked bad last year, hopefully I'll get something this season. Tight lines!
Im really trying to improve a bit with each video and get more information out there. SARL is definitely a difficult mistress. Ive had lots of incredible days there but I have also skunked out there several times. But its one of only a few places local where you can get some trophy sized trout and I really like the challenge
As someone who has done the actual dropper loop with the tiny mosquito hooks, this is a MUCH less frustrating method of getting the same basic presentation. Appreciate the info Rob see you out there again soon! 🤘🏻
I have fished SARL for years. YEARS. I never knew about the talapia or gizzard chad. I knew about the sturgeon. My brother caught a 60 pounder on 2lb. line! but didn't know about those other fish
Hi again! I just watched your video on how to set up the double drop shot. When you do the leader loop, do you have the swivel clip attached to the braid? So it goes braid with swivel clip, then just attach your pre-rigged drop shot on Fluro to the clip? Thanks again! I'm learning so much from your videos.
I have about a 5’ leader of 5lb RUNCL PowerFluoro attached to the braid with a double UNI knot, then a snap swivel or duo lock snap, then the dropshot rig but you can certainly can attach the snap directly to the braid as the dropshot rig is long enough the fish wont see the braid. I have just been doing the leader before the dropshot rig for so long its just habit at this point haha
Great video. I am 15 minutes from santa ana lakes. I am putting a mini jig order together at GSF. Any chance i can get info on what you recommend for our lakes around southern cal. I have the i es you mentioned in this video on my list. Thanks
The best advice I can give first is GSF baits that work at several lakes is have a good variety of natural, lights, darks, and brights, as the fish change their minds daily on what they are gonna bite. That said for SoCal some of my favorites are ghost shrimp, big stick, el diablo, carmel apple, super shad, brown trout, bubble gum, gold pearl and brown, and yellow white
Yeah, when people ask me about what its like to fish there I always say its like fishing at a concert haha. My PB rainbow is a 9lb 3oz caught at Irvine
I can’t think of anything I do differently closer to stock day. Biggest advice I csn give is stay the whole day if you can. Most days I do the best between the hours of 1-4PM
How the day I go you no tell me 😂 gosh darn it I was by toad road same day ….. I just gotta meet ya man just wanna shake your hand and slay some fish 🤙🔥
I wont touch Tilapia in the store !! farm raised toxic Taco's. What about there ? I been there, seems like runoff water, ok for trout that only spends a short time in that water, No concerns about the Tilapia ?
No not really. Just make sure its cooked completely. All the water ways are full of bacteria. Wether down here or the crystal clear waters of the Sierra
Im not a big fan of stacking knots. An easier solution is to change your hook selection and use a real dropper loop as you eluded to in the beginning of the video. Try using a fine wire "spoon" hook #8 which has a bigger eye and will allow you to use the proper loop knot. Thanks for the content spanker!
16:50 -- Not very computer literate?! You run the best damn trout fishing channel on UA-cam, dude! 🥳
One of your best videos too. Thanks for the tips.
Haha thanks brother, really appreciate the kind words. Im always trying to get better at the computer and social media stuff

Thank you for watching 🙏
Great footage dude!👀🤙
Thanks brotha 🤘
Super, great information!!! Catching Tilapia very cool!!!
Thanks Lee. They are a blast to catch up

We’ll be back out there very soon Im sure 🤘
@@SeaSpankerOutdoors hitting hesperia then probably SARL next week, want to try out that dropper loop technique you showed here 🤘🏻
I have fished SARL for years. YEARS. I never knew about the talapia or gizzard chad. I knew about the sturgeon. My brother caught a 60 pounder on 2lb. line! but didn't know about those other fish
Yeah there are quite a few types of fish in those waters. Since the water comes directly from the river bed system, who knows what else is in there
Very informative! I always wondered what all those fish disturbances were lol great video !
Yeah the lakes are infested with those shad
Love your videos! Do you have a video of you setting up your dropshot rig? Like you did in this video for the dropper loop.
I sure do. Here is the link ua-cam.com/video/raDZxljqpLU/v-deo.htmlsi=vBHWJRCpDQcRrZKG
Another great video Rob. just checked out Mack's fishing report and am following. great info thx!
He definitely gives out good intel

Enjoyed the instructions on the dropper loop. I've heard the tilapia makes great fish tacos.
They do. I may do a catch and cook with one coming up
Great video bud...
Thanks brother 🤘
Awesome I hope I'll see you at santee lakes for the reopener on lightning trout and rainbow trout
Very possible. When is that happening
@@SeaSpankerOutdoors January 13th and 14th weekend
@@johndulay9141 thanks for the intel but Ill be out at the Fin and Feather opener that weekend
Great video
Thanks 🙏
Not big on dropshoting for trout but might give it a try. Thanks for the tips.
It definitely has its drawbacks but it a fun effective way to catch em. Especially in murky water
Great video. How do you connect your leader to your main line?
I use a double uni knot with 6 wraps each side
Love the SARL videos! What waders/boots do you use?
Currently im using Simms G3 waders and Korker River Ops boots.

Used to love fishing there but its a zoo.lol. good video's bro. What is your PB Rainbow Trout?
Yeah, when people ask me about what its like to fish there I always say its like fishing at a concert haha. My PB rainbow is a 9lb 3oz caught at Irvine
@SeaSpankerOutdoors a concert...lol. thats the perfect analogy. Keep up the good videos homie
Nice vid I’m going to sarl next Friday any tips for days right after stock?
I can’t think of anything I do differently closer to stock day. Biggest advice I csn give is stay the whole day if you can. Most days I do the best between the hours of 1-4PM
Nice video 📹
Thanks Noe 🤘
Would you happen to know if Hesperia stocked fish this morning? They usually post their stocking but I haven’t seen it
As far as I know they did. I heard there are a bunch of folks out there fishing right now
Where can I get a link for that rod holder you got there?
Are you talking about this one? LULUME Stainless Steel Rod Stand... www.amazon.com/dp/B07TWVL23J?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
If not let me know 🤘
Been using this style for years in sd bay with a one oz weight n be killing the spotties/halis

What day will u be out there at SARL?
Im usually out there on Wednesdays 🤘

Thanks for watching. Good luck getting on those fish out there 🤘
Some guy told me he does drop shot with nightcrawlers, any of u guys ever try that? Sounds like it might work well
Ive never tried it myself but I know it does definitely work. You can use the double dropshot with all kinds of bait.
SARL Drive-by's
Oh you know haha
How the day I go you no tell me 😂 gosh darn it I was by toad road same day ….. I just gotta meet ya man just wanna shake your hand and slay some fish 🤙🔥
