Curious that liver transplant works as well as it does in PBC. You wouldn't think that would be true if there was a common immune target. That would still be present in the transplanted liver, and the disease would recur. Goes to show the limits of our knowledge. Nice review of the physiology. Weird distinction between sexes. So much to think about!

Thank you so much, Dr. Sadofsky. The pathophysiology of autoimmune diseases is incredibly challenging to understand! There are so many variables (environment, genes)!
