This is where the Fight Club inspiration peaks.
The piano rendition of Where Is My Mind, the song at the end of Fight Club.
This is the track from the artist that made the cover

I love this show, but I always thought that's a pretty wild needle drop to do in a show that effectively has the same twist as Fight Club. I can't decide if it's brilliant or stupid.
@@KayinAngel well its the first of maany twists in the show, obviously its a whole big reference but the show is about much more than that and delves into it much deeper. So i think doing the fight club twist early and making it a proper nod with the song is just a nice move. Had it been the last twist of the show though or the biggest one i'd agree with you that its pretty wild/stupid lol
@@KayinAngel It's brilliant because it's acknowledging the "original text". It's subversion by quotation - springboarding from a known prior that's already likely built into the viewer's vocabulary to say something bigger than what's in the text. It's counting on you to pick up the reference.
Perfect usage of intertextuality.
We met Elliot at a very strange time in his life
This all gets so much deeper. Its crazy to think that the end of this season is still the very surface of the show. Lots of reveals, but it's leading somewhere so much further into the depths. Enjoy.
Into the depths of "Elliot" psyche
19:05 "im pretty fuckin' far from okay" lil nod to Pulp Fiction was cool
Fun fact: both Better call Saul and Mr Robot use the “rule of quadrants” as opposed to the standard “rule of thirds” in many scenes.
More so Mr robot, but both shows use it to enhance the story so well.
Yes, those corner shots are hitting because of it!
“I wanted to save the world” this quote with the Where Is My Mind cover in the background. These words will reverberate throughout the whole show from this point onwards.
Fun fact, the song that plays at the end of this episode is a cover of where is my mind by the pixies. The same song that plays at the end of fight club which this show is kinda a spiritual remake of.
And we recontextualize every instance of Mr. Robot in the past. Now that weirdness you had picked up on kind of fits. This episode makes many characters and pieces that were strange or out of pocket before fit like a glove. It's both resolution, and preparation for the next moment. The mirror shows you what you didn't see before.
A mirror is a great way of describing this!
@@JamesVSCinema It's the episode name!
@@crimiusXIIIActually, I think the episode is called “mirroring” because in computing mirroring is when you copy a data file. As Mr. Robot and Elliot are two personalities of the same person, the name would fit.
The crazy part is, when you get to the end of this show you'll see all the little things we all missed and realize what you think you know now has many more layers of depth.
I don't did anyone tells you that - Tyrell is basically AmericanPsycho pooted in Fightclub
I also caught on to the personality twist but then totally second guessed myself when they showed Mr Robot operating independently of Elliot in Episode 8
Exactly! That’s why I was threw off but it makes total sense after this episode. What an awesome show.
I truly hope you watch all four seasons. Because when you watch episode 7 of season 4….I guarantee you will be speechless. You will probably need to take a walk to process what you’ve just seen.
Oh, yes, I subscribed to it in order to feel it all over again through someone else's perception. I am glad that I found this man at the beginning of his journey in the world of Mr. Robot
All of the signs were there and it still hit everyone like a truck
Idk if this was mentioned at all yet but I literally just noticed at 18:00 when Elliot looked at his dads gravestone the wound from falling suddenly appears when it wasn't there before!
Enjoying your reactions. I am watching the show again. Buckle up, this show accelerates and goes way off the rails. Best series ever
Can't wait! Thanks Mike!
It’s also worth a rewatch just for all the various News segments going on in the background, and the various presidents and countries, events mentioned. Same for all the random lore found within the radio stations and in game books of Cyber Punk.
First few episodes of season 2 are a bit slow, but once you get to episode five it steps on the gas and doesn't let go until the end of the 4th season.
Such a good flashback. W on the show for not dragging it out.
There was a very subtle clue in the first episode that gave away the twist. When Elliot first goes to the f society hideout. Mr Robot knocks on the door. Romero opens the door and he only looks at Elliot. Romero doesn't acknowledge Mr. Robot.
This is the only series I've watched more than twice. I didn't watch a single episode while it was on the air, but later watched it 4 times in a span of about 2 years. I'm enjoying watching it again along with you. It's endlessly compelling and fulfilling in so many ways.
Thanks for your commentary on this show. You have a great understanding of the writing, filming, and storytelling that goes into TV like this. You have easily the most insightful reactions on UA-cam.
One of my fav parts is the piano rendition of 'Where is my mind", such a beautiful song.
4:18 IN MR. ROBOT we trust
There are all kinds of lies, but the old "you can change it from within" is one of the more brutal ones.
With respect, bc I enjoy your videos, I hope you're editing this yourself so you can catch all the dialogue that you're talking over bc it's a phenomenal show. 👍
Oooh, did you miss that the gun is in the popcorn!
Another thing about dropping the reveal now:
Imagine what they just might be letting linger...
bro first time commenting on a video of yours i think and i have watched barry, breaking bad and bcs and mr robot already but watching again with cause your just so chill and cool and have funny unique comments so your a w and your community is chill aswell no toxic people no one tryna spoil and stuff so thats cool aswell keep up the great work browski
The characters on this show are all SO flawed and broken. When there is a tender moment, it hits harder.
I forgot about the CEO of Evil Corp. He’s another one that is so delightfully odd and insane.
My god bro this show was so so so epic. Almost teared up a couple times!!
I would highly suggest watching Severance, since it also has a brilliant cinematography just like BCS, BB, Dark, Barry and Mr.Robot. And for now it is only 1 season long
there is post credit scenes at the end of each season btw
Man, you see SO much. I'm seriously so excited to hear your thoughts about the rest of this show. It's so impressive to see it dissected by someone who can backtrack into the reveals from the technicals -- it's genuinely such a treat to watch.
Johnny Silverhand lmfaooo!

Have a great day y'all!
In the previous episode when time skips for Eliott I theorize either him or Darlene were about to mention Angela
Love your reference to Dark. It's one of my favorite shows and you are one of the few people on UA-cam to give that show the time of day. It gave me joy to watch one of my favorite UA-camrs watching what I was watching during the pandemic
MIKKEL
Leave it up to Mr. Robot to hit you twice, back to back, with a big twist. Insanity: The Show
Ive said it before and ill say it every time. GREATEST SHOW OF MY LIFETIME!
You could not even imagine what all will happen in net series and how the Elliots mind will transform. I am looking forward to see if you could cry on the last minute of last episode.
Watching this episode after whatching the whole show hist different
When MR said "... people who afraid of US" and if you watched all show, you can hear something more in this "US". People afraid of personalitys...
Watching this show weekly as it was airing was truly something special. All the online speculation and theory crafting finally coming to a head with those memorable piano lines coming in and wrecking your world just as Elliot had his wrecked. Truly brilliant and some of the most fun television has ever been.
19:06 this is a reference to Pulp Fiction, this is the same line Marcellus Wallace says to Butch. Pulp Fiction is also the movie Elliot watched with his dad in the cold open.
I know a guy who quit watching this show when he thought that this was it: now that the supposedly Big Reveal was over and done with, there was nothing left to the show. Poor devil only watched the prologue, 'coz we, we're just getting started.
I've always loved the explicit Fight Club reference in the show: not only does it give credit to the sources of inspiration, but the show also really takes off where Fight Club ends, and I love that.
There's a massive difference between those who want to save the world and those that want to destroy the world, it's just too bad that they often end up in the same evil place with the same evil outcomes...
Gideon gives off an honest, sympathetic vibe. He's the perfect vessel for their lies.
When that first domino is pushed by telling us theyre brother and sister the pieces start to fall and dots are connected.
Unreliable narrators became really big during this period of time. In that vein, if you haven't checked it out already, the FX series Legion (2017-2019) is a really fun show.
wheeere is my mind...
The mind is one hell of a thing
If you've played Cyberpunk 2077 - I always got V/Johnny Silverhand vibes from Elliot and Mr Robot
Yeah he mentioned that couple of times in previous episodes.
@@toreadoress He did that in like episode 1 which is crazy lol
2:55 I believe the word you're looking for is "construct"
24:36 that's the end music to fight club
If I haven’t mentioned it Orphan Black is another show along the same quality level and mind games plot as this one.
Don't you dare call my boy Phillip Price evil
Just wait until you find out why Elliot’s mind created Mr. Robot…
In regards to movie reactions, I think you'd love The Seven Year Itch with Marilyn Monroe ❤
What's the exact name of the intro song and the ending song?
🔥
Can you please react to the Saban’s Power Rangers 2017 Movie!!! It is a very goooood movie. You may look at the name and think it is childish and cheesy. But it is hilarious and shows the growth of friendship and trustworthy. I swear it is a must watch.
😎
Hi could you please check out the movie SLC Punk? Love your reaction
As good as this season is seasons 2, 3, and 4 are just so much better
Not to defend Apple, but I think if you wanted an analog of Evil Corp. in our world then basically think about combining Amazon, Google, and a *major* credit card and banking institution. That's _plenty_ of evil to go around, lol. Their logo as well was meant to make people think of a technology corporation since it's reminiscent of the old Dell computer logo, but E Corp is clearly a much bigger and badder institution than that.
I hope you like fight club, this show is by far the best plagiarism to ever happen
Except Mr. Robot goes much deeper into the dissociative identity disorder aspect…
@@badwolf9956 yeah, cause they got more time to develop it, fight club is only 2 hours
I’ll be back here when you drop the next Mr. Robot reaction. 🩵
It's my FAVOURITE SHOW EVER and you have no idea what is waiting for you ❤️🔥 Keep your brain and soul 💔🫡🫂❤️🩹🦾🫠❤️
