They delayed this episode because of real world events. The incident where the reporter was shot to death on live TV happened right before this episode was supposed to air.
Then during the broadcast, iirc right before that scene they had a sensitivity message.
I love how the first season of this show ends with the kind of paradigm shift that would be a series finale for any other show
It's hard to believe that this show progressively gets better
And let’s not forget crazier
I remember thinking it couldn't get better than season 3, and then season 4 happened and blew me away. Also crazy, because season 4 of Mr Robot and Dark season 2 released the same year and both were some of the strongest and most consistent tv experiences.

As other commenters said, this episode was delayed for world events. I remember watching it live when I was 20. I thought this was a dystopian future, but tbh, we're not far from it. We're living a lot of this show today and it's unfortunately aged all too well.
I really appreciate Michael Christopher's (Price) ability to radiate menace. It's not something a lot of actors can do effectively, but dang he's good at it. He's also great in the Fallout series.
Also- look at his directing credits. Which include the film Gia.
I can't remember if The Expanse been suggested on your Patreon? It does all of the things you love about good scifi and goes even further. it's incredible.
Can 100% confirm that the Expanse is amazing. Probably the best scifi show I've ever seen.
Mr Robot is my #3 all time show, Expanse is my #4. Definitely worth a watch!
Its awesome right to the point, where amazon started to continue the series. I love it also but the first seasons are imo better :-) i would rather have Stargate Atlantis or SG1 as an rewatch. Older, but great scifi to watch

Dialogue between the Elliot and Johanna is the scariest shit of entire series. She is so dangerous and she fully deserves what is comming for her.
That song during the Joanna scene is crazy good, puts me on edge as much as her crazy stare lol
I love how after last episode they go ahead and show us straight away how mad Mr. Robot and Elliot's interactions look from the outside.
It's insane how the show just keeps getting better as it goes, there's only more greatness to come ahead.

There also exist a small episode of the series, filmed on 360. It seems like the plot takes place between episodes 7 and 8

The whole show is great. But, the first season is a such a fever dream. Unlike anything else on TV before or after.
The first season is excellent and has enough extra and different details... BUT... there are very STRONG conceptual/stylistic/thematic/story beats/etc to Fight Club. From the split personalities, to the secret society, to taking down the banking systems to crash society, even the monotone narration from the main character Elliot parallels Edward Norton's narration in Fight Club. The first season is still extremely well done and has plenty of its own specifics/details and facets to where things go. But its hard not to notice the HEAVY influence of Fight Club.
the compartmentalization of Eliots character, where his other identity holds him back from knowing exactly what's going on, but for some reason still needs Eliot was interesting to me. why cant Mr robot do the same hacking that Eliot does? why is Eliot needed if they are the same person? how did we get here as Eliots friend? are we just a witness, are we his conscious, is Eliot Mr. robots conscious? later seasons explore and explain and by the end of it all we understand who Eliot is who Mr. Robot is and our role in the relationship he has with himself but when watching this for the first time the series does such a good job of getting in your head about all of it. this is one of my favorite shows and I think at this point I've watched it 3 times start to end, with that said I can't wait to hear more of your thoughts on this show. Enjoy the ride!

James, I suspect when you get through the last episode in the series, you will be like me, just sitting there and digesting, for days.
I remember I'd never heard of Mr Robot until one day I tuned into the channel ten minutes early to catch whatever was coming up next (I want to say it was Mad Men? I don't remember) but it was the episode that ended with him thinking about the whole plan and what it was all for, a whole monologue about all the same problems I saw in the world, on a TV show on network TV. I was immediately hooked. Now I'm skeptical whenever the TV tells me what I want to hear, especially when it seems to be against the network's interests, but at the same time, I think the show had some contribution towards my leftward radicalization, and I appreciate that contribution.
Just wish I could figure out how to hack stuff lol jk

I'm not sure if you've looked at it yet, but if you want to see some incredible attention to detail, go back and watch the episode 2 scene where Elliott meets the fsociety team to talk about Steel Mountain. Nobody directly addresses Mr. Robot, and there's a moment where he steps in between Elliott and Darlene to take over the conversation, but she never looks him in the eye. She stares at Elliott through Mr. Robot showing he was never there, but before the reveal it just looks like she's staring him down.
The live execution is reminiscent of Bud Dwyer... It also has strong parallels to Network

Also can i recommend a movie?? It's "Locke" it's super psicoogical, theprogression isgreat aaand it has only oneactor on camera through the whole movie!! Such a master piece in my opinion. 😊
Season 1 is basically the twist of Fight Club, and then the rest of the series takes it to another level.

One of the best 1st seasons in the TV history. Right there with Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Westworld and True Detective 1st seasons (to mention shows I've watched).
It's a shame the only won the Emmy for this season, as the other three were really good, especially 4th season, that was peak TV.
And S01E09 isn't even close in the imdb top episodes ranking for Mr Robot. it's at 9.2 :)
S04E07 has been called best tv series episode in history. It has a 9.9 imdb score. in that same season there are a couple of 9.8s and 9.7s too. So go figure what you're in for. Season one is just setting the stage. We're only getting started.
Oh and the Ashley Madison hacks weren't actually in the original script. It's just something that happened during shooting and they incorporated it. Talking about shooting... as someone else here already noted this episode was delayed by one week bcs of the suicide scene.
Reality overtaking fiction really put this show in a whole different light back then.
And even though I enjoyed Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul (or Sopranos, The Wire, Mad Men) for me, Mr Robot and Dark are on a different level.
Im pretty sure i was watching it as it was releaase at the time...
But the show ended in 2019 before the real global collapse..
I think i need to do a total rewatch of it because im also in therapy too now, so its just more than relevant

Christian Slater In Pump up the volume ( 1990 ) really feels like a mr robot prequel . Watch the trailer and you'll def see . It would be cool if you reacted to it at some point in your mr robot journey .

I appreciate you continuing your journey with my favorite show, Mr Robot, and cant wait to see your understanding of the show each season. I rank the seasons from best to worst S4, S3, S1, S2. I love S2 btw, even tho some ppl dont like how cerebral it gets that season and prefer the balance of S3 & S4. Esmail and I favor it for how existential & surreal it gets in season 2. However, its hard to deny the greatness of the second half of the series, S3 & S4. SN: I hope you start watching Xmen 97 cuz its one of the best stories xmen has ever done in media and it holds up with its high level writing. Its beautifully tragic and utilizes social issues that xmen does best with its commentary on xenophobia and class control. I guarantee you wont regret it.

Great break down, if you’re into sci-fi and marvel, the Noah Hawley created(same as Fargo) is LEGION. Unlike any show I’ve watched. He’s a schizophrenic and is made with an unreliable narrative. Hawley made season 1 of Legion right after season 2 of Fargo
