      Green had more troops towards the end and right when red was nearly done with blue, Green could have stream rolled most of the map and honestly pulled out a victory.

      I assume most people can't handle an opinion that contradicts their own perspective. I don't want to say they can't handle the "truth", since that is indeed dependent on ones morale and inner value system, however, being told what others truly think of one could potentially fire all sets of emotions in them, and most of them never learned to handle their own emotions pretty well. They feel devastated, attacked, miserable, caught, insulted and that makes them angry and perhaps even resentful.
      They, on the other hand, could also say "thank you for your opinion" and move on by evaluating if the critique was legitimate or not. That would open the possibility to learn and eventually grow. Admitting own deficits by looking in that kind of mirrow is hard work and sometimes a tough pill to swallow. But necessary.
      My two cents on that.

    great video - i appreciate the "losing" games as much as the wining games :)
    this game perfectly demonstrates three things:
    1. player skill doesn't necessarily equate to victory
    2. anyone can lose to lower ranked players EVEN when they aren't collaborating (as was the case here) (imagine when players do collab how much at a disadvantage you are)
    3. even placing second you would have lost rank points - and this is why the ranking system needs adjustment
    4. (bonus) great players, such as yourself, still retain their cool as much as it must be unfairly frustrating - something i personally need to work on :)
    thanks for the content pete!

    That definition of the social interaction of cardboard MTG was well stated and articulate. I as well love the social interaction of Commander. I choose commanders that bring some sort of politics into the game. My favorite commander is Edric, Spymaster of Trest. As it encourages people to literally do the same thing as in Risk, take cards from each other.

    • @boiler2147
      @boiler2147 Рік тому +1

      I play casual games of mtg with 3-6 players and we play solo and teams. I agree. The strategy of recognizing other decks mechanics, state of the battlefield and life all play into the politics of mtg similar to risk. Makes the game much more interesting and also makes us into better players.

    • @TheKillPeteStrategy
      @TheKillPeteStrategy  Рік тому +2

      Yeah. The apparent acceptance of cedh into edh is the worst mistake they could have made for the format. Literally every other magic format is competitive.
      Doing so in edh misses the point. The political psychological game is what makes it one of the best games ever.

    • @nikoaz
      @nikoaz Рік тому

      @@TheKillPeteStrategy I feel there is a place for cedh alongside commander. There is always the low to the ground style that just tempos out every game(usually decided by drawing that Sol Ring). You know the decks that don't have multiplayer elements to it, just built for the 1vs1. However, I feel the majority of multiplayer Commander games are still just battlecruiser magic. Casting those cards that just sit in a binder for years/decades. Almost every group I play with has their own ban list. If someone tried to bust out their cedh deck at our table, they would be hated out of the game. Not all groups are like that though, but I play with friends and usually not at a local game store. My fastest decks are only played when the power level of my friends deck require it.

    I had a similar game recently with beginners unable to see the advantage of trust alliances and constantly breaking for no reason, negative reason infact ... some of the best games happen, I found though, when you resign yourself to losing through lack of better options and make a risky kill, the other players don't take their chance when you're weak and you go on to win... you can't really plan that kind of game, but when they happen they're a lot of fun.

    I had a tough match the other day, S.A. was blocked off from N.A. due to the frozen wastes, and Africa could only be gotten into through Europe. But i started in S.A. and for the first 4 rounds every time I took it one of the players who I kicked out kept whiffing his biggest stack just so I couldn't hold the continent. Eventually he got beaten back by others and I got to hold 2 continents for a few turns. After that though the same player broke my line again and I decided to trade places with him, I took his continents and he took mine. If he hadn't done that I never would have gotten enough troops to win, which I eventually did. Word to the wise, don't let grudges hide your hand in this game, you'll cause your own downfall.

    I feel like a batter way to defend Asia (and Oceania) than at 25:15 is to deny Europe on top of that so it’s the same-point hold as North America or Both Americas, at the expense of any players getting this you don’t have to guard an extra point to hold Asia. Red could have done better because of that, as no one is going for europe by the looks of things, I don’t really play risk so maybe I’m wrong.

    Also no communication :D. Oh and the confirmation at the end also :D.
    The 1vs1vs1 was crazy though with shifting positions all the time. No one wanted to take 2nd then the yellow decided to take the 3rd? :D.
    Sooooo.. how do you break stalemates in a 3 player situation? Do you just patiently wait until somebody loses it and grabs the 2nd while you hope you are not the one being eaten?

    Learning alot from your gameplay. My record is 30 wins and 54 losses all on classic 6 man fixed. But I'm at the point in the game where I am at expert level and I keep getting matched up with new players wich is frustrating. I am only playing classic 6 man games at the moment on classic and I keep getting bad games. People botting out and I litterally just finished a game where all 5 players went for Australia and I cleaned up the win and it just isnt fun, their is no grind, but their are other games when people will let someone take a +5 and a +2 territory but for no reason hit me. Do you have any ideas for me to get into games with players who have more skill ? And is it a possibility for you to run a game with your viewers one day because I would love to get in on a UA-cam viewer matchplay with kill-pete 🙂

    I think masks should only be mandatory in hospital settings+large crowds since it is only these 2places that really causes spread of infections. But, at schools+universities, I feel is excessive. Maybe if the teacher is old and is scared of her well-being then she could "force us" to wear masks for her protection. It would be a mutual benefit since if the doctor remains non-infected because of our masks then we would be learning from that teacher.

      I think those who are at risk should bear the responsibility to protect themselves and everyone else should be free to weigh the costs vs the benefits for themselves. Like a free responsible society would behave.

    When you said it was a "noobish" move to break you in Africa towards the end, I disagree. That was retaliation for the two times you broke him, and with the soft guard it cost him literally nothing to hit you.

    Pete, when you say balanced blitz is broken in relation to the slider, what exactly do you mean? How is it broken?

    • @TheKillPeteStrategy
      @TheKillPeteStrategy  Рік тому +1

      The way BB rounds numbers can lead to unreasonable losses when large stacks hit small ones. Top players dial the slider down to the minimum 100% roll to mitigate lossess. I don't feel that should be the players responsibility but rather something that can be addressed with a design solution.

    hi pete! why do you not defend all entry points of a continent? I get that if an opponent enters the continent you can retaliate, but then you both lose. Does this not put you in a position to lose due to an opponent's lack of skill?

    • @TheKillPeteStrategy
      @TheKillPeteStrategy  Рік тому +1

      Think about it this way if you defend your bonus with threats and you get broken you lose the potential additional troops but you don't lose a guard stack. If you defend your bonus with guard stacks you lose both.

I understand the concept of leaving a route for troops to get out. but at 17:40 what does Pete mean by getting his 3 out? it looks to me like if they merged those two 4 stacks he would only be able to kill 2 countries with 1 and leave nothing to move out.
