I'm sorry, a free discussion's a free discussion... you're a public personality, I'm a journalist, you're entitled not to answer to my questions, no-one's forcing you. Such reaction is the evidence she wasn't at ease with her choice to become someone she wasn't aka turning her back to Scotland, to sum it up.
Odd to me that I've never seen this interview before, but I have to say that I love the way that Sheena stood up for herself. She is straightforward and honest about who she is, her feelings, and her experiences - and refuses to let anyone pigeon-hole her into their expectations of "who" she's going to be prior to the interview. They (the interviewers) think that because they may have a little information that they consider to be 'insider' or 'revealing' that they're going to catch her off guard. This particular interview finds Sheena ready to deal back whatever is given and standing her ground - being the person that she'd said she was in the face of an industry that was used to being able to shape their talent however they wanted. She's strong, always has been, and doesn't "need" the approval of the interviewers, etc., to feel good about herself, and that is something rare among celebrities. I loved this.
Classy lady. At the end of the day Sheena moved to America because that was where the work was, the Scott's should be proud of their talent home or abroad.
She is so cheeky and smart. And about the supposedly 'fake' accent - as a South African who has lived abroad for over 20 years, I know from experience, your accent changes - it's not a deliberate thing.
I'm Scot living in the states 14 years now. Mine has changed slightly, but its scottish. I still get compliments. You have to work on it to get an accent as bad as hers. sean connery hasnt lived in scotland for decades. craig ferguson has been in american for the same amount of time as me, he still sounds scottish. billy connoly has lived in oz.
And we already knew Bill Clinton was an idiot and this put the final nail in the coffin. How many guys would have turned down a blow job from Sheena Easton back then? "He didn't even hit on me" what a moron.
Wtf with people's stuck up possessive obsession with accents? She has lived in the States for 30+ years, what do you expect. The old accent occasionally peaks thru here, in other videos you'll see a gradual evolution; she didn't just lose it right away, unlike Lulu who switched to a cut glass British accent. She was probably told to lose it, broad Scots is difficult to understand. She went back to Scots for Scooby Doo and the Loch Ness Monster.
I agree. I live in Asia. Those who pillorise her for speaking with an American accent should hear the how the Scots, French, British etc sound when they pick up the local Asian accents after having lived and worked here for some time. It's only natural. Look at Gerard Butler, he admits that he threw shoes at Sheena when he heard her American accent. But he's picked it up now himself.
What I thought was interesting is that this interview is in Europe, Right? Why is she talking about dollars and sense instead of pounds to a British audience. She looks tough, smart, self-centered, and lonely. Stardom aint all its cracked up to be. Great looking girl though. RH DSD
Scottish people are such jealous haters! I'm American and she doesn't sound American to me. Anyway it isn't unusual to pick the local accents when you live in a foreign country for a number of years.
Again she's a product of her environment with that LA therapy culture. It's a bit extreme and it was all a bit tumbleweed but she is feisty and has a personality at least. As a Scot I think the success she had in the US is great and don't understand why so many begrudge it.
I have both an English and Irish accent and it changes depending on who I'm talking to. If I go back to Ireland, it automatically changes into Irish. If Sheena wanted to put on a Scottish accent she could, she obviously doesn't want to. Could be she was fed up with people in the States commenting on her accent. There's always a bit of ribbing with an accent, but after the 100th time someone says it, it gets annoying
People are funny, trying to stuff themselves into little cultural boxes. Nationalism is a crock. Just a ridiculous excuse for people to get themselves all lathered up. Same as race, politics, and religion, ultimately. Free your mind and the rest will follow.
She sounds rather odd, sort of a Bronx or Brooklyn type accent. What a strange interview. Such rude questions. Asking her how rich she is. I liked Sheena's comeback asking her. How much do you make?
We're Scottish, we're always interested in how rich people are, especially if they've turned their backs at us and put on an unnatural American accent... ye ken.
Ironically your post is as confused as the accent you criticize. You're gonna have to decide if you want to write in Scots or plain English so yt can understand you.
Scottish American why she putting American in for Scottish American American should be thier at all but it should be British American bout American should be thier at all
Can't believe it yet after so long... she blew her mind out, totally... changed her looks, changed her attitude, even purposedly changed her accent... you're free to do whatever you please, you'll take any consequence, I'm still very Presbyterian from this point of view: why on earth did she have to do that? I don't like people who pose and do NOT let nature have its way, those who wish they'd control any aspect of their life up to the point they can even distort a whole accent... Dis she feel that Scotland equalled 'poverty' and the US equalled 'I've made the big time'? Did she need to escape her homeland so much as to totally erase any trace of a Scottish lilt? As far as I'm concerned, her looks say it all: she started out as a lovely, extremely good-looking spontaneous wee lass who could sport short hair like no-one else could, very little make up and other tricks... she turned out with her face covered up with heavy 'maquillage', unlikely sexy clothing meant to be worn by someone who actually feels comfortable with being sexy (she wasn't, it always looks like she was posing and not being naturally driven to it), her spontaneous pretty face now easily comparable with any other 'Beverly Hills Madam', but the true Madams look very 'hot' and convincing sporting 'jet set looks', Sheena simply looked totally built up, absolutely fake... I mean, you're made to be who YOU ARE, if it doesn't come naturally LEAVE IT, leave it to those who were BORN AND RAISED to be like that. No way Sheena would ever look like Bo Derek or Morgan Fairchild or Joan Collins, yet she kept trying to do so... That's how her appeal dramatically started crumbling down, and when she came 'back home' in 1990 and said
I loved the way Sheena stands up for herself when Kristy rudely asks for a ballpark figure on how much money Sheena makes. It's nobody's business.
I'm sorry, a free discussion's a free discussion... you're a public personality, I'm a journalist, you're entitled not to answer to my questions, no-one's forcing you. I LOVE how blunt, straightforward, open, and honest she is!

Rubbish. My uncle lived abroad for years and though it changed slightly he still had a Scottish accent! This is just embarrassing!
+Anthony Peters no shes a stupid twat, that tries to sound american.
Well Anthony, obviously, your accent will change IF you suffer prejudice because of it, right???
que hermosura de mujer igual que siempre
I agree with Sheena. Why does the press always think they have the right to know what people earn and broadcast it? It's so rude
"A lot of men think with the other head" -Sheena
And we already knew Bill Clinton was an idiot and this put the final nail in the coffin. How many guys would have turned down a blow job from Sheena Easton back then? "He didn't even hit on me" what a moron.
I love this woman.

She FAKED an American accent within the first few years of her success. Bollocks to "gradual evolution".
I agree. I live in Asia. Now I know why a visit to Scotland doesn't appeal if you are an example of the Scottish warm welcome......no wonder Sheena lives in the States.
I love her
she is loaded and has a superb voice
She is hilarious!!!
Kirsty's like blah blah blah shut it ya fanny! haha.

luv Sheena ... That's right you tell'em Sheena.
I knew she had children but I didn't know they were adopted. She's a fiesty gal. I can appreciate a little attitude.
People are funny, trying to stuff themselves into little cultural boxes.

Why does she owe you guys anything? She went off and lived her life.
Watched this back again - Funk off Sheena...
Her accent is hilarious.
slapper easton
Mel Gibson doesn't have Ausie accent anymore. Arnold is the only person I know that did not lose the accent.
Highlights:
Kirsty's body language at 1:01
Kirsty's blatant lie at 1:25.
