Railway Empire 2 Scenario 2 Star Warehouse Part One

- We begin scenario 2 set in the St. Louis area. We are tasked with creating a star logistics system using a warehouse that Collis P. Huntington has purchased. We discuss what a star system means in this context and set up a star transportation system for passengers and mail.
Now these feel like RE missions. Boy they are fun. Thank you
Now that I'm farther into this one, I realize that it is another epic. I had the impression the scenarios were much shorter than the missions. I'm not sure that is true.
When I played this, I actually used some of your strategies. Started with a good old ladies style rapid expansion with a ring through all of the cities around the warehouse. I used leapfrogging in Kansas City because it's too far up for the ring. And then I slowly expanded all of it with the center express stations and interior+exterior freight stations. Since this scenario is all about constant city growth, this is an approach that worked very well.
Haha, this was a surprise to see you use spaghetti style rail setup. I used this method all the time in the original game Railway Empire. Since watching your game style I've learned a lot. Nice to see you've ironed out the spaghetti in the next episode 😁
That is a very good setup for PAX.. Except you need double tracks. Waiting to see how you pull that off. You could point to point those, at least on the way into the MX stations. I have used this setup.. But I did double tracks into the MX and used 4 track Gridirons so I could do more than one train per city.
The way I play this game is simply when I set up city to city freight routes I just exclude the items from Huntington's Warehouse from those routes. Then one train from each city to the that warehouse. So any one of those 6 items that anyone gets will come out of his warehouse. The goals then just met themselves when you are given.
Same
Hey..when you need 1 city ....for instance Strausburg on episode europe....you can MANUALLY set one train to stop in multiple cities and pick up stuff for stras...and then have it manually drop it off there....set the train to manual...then pick what and where you want to pick up and drop off....it's easier than setting 2 or 3 separate lines
That works.
@Adekyn - Just finished this scenario and employed techniques you used in Nord campaign, e.g. fewer trains and more rails. This avoided the congestion that has plagued me in the campaigns. Did a ring of single track staggered for passengers/mail which I never touched after setup, then created 2 Walmarts (warehouses for raw materials+beer and meat), and an Amazon (for manufactured goods + higher end raw materials) and used star schemas for those. Added a few city-city warehouses to support specific goals, and scored #26. I believe a woohoo! is in order.
Congrats! Well done!
Another great video Adekyn with once again another concept that has me thinking how and when I could apply in future scenarios to fix maintenance and maximise the buildings potential in main stations.
Not sure if you spotted in other videos but you get penalised on having your train refunded when you apply your extra wagons. So on this video you paid 155k all in but only got 92k refunded when you canned the Kansas train.
Something I learned the hard way in a few of my games that quickly depleted my cash reserves.
Hi Adekyn love your videos very informative. I have been experimenting with your maintenance stations but rather than have them on their own, I have put them next to a rural station ( eg corn) - that way you can use the station for maintenance and pick up corn from it as well rather than building two seperate stations.
Interesting idea. The only problem with a separate maintenance station is that it impacts the frequency of your trains (how often they make deliveries).
Just finished this scenario - trying to to complete before watching your videos since I know when I watch I will learn a lot and would be able to complete with a better score - got CEO and did all optional but it was a bit of a mess with lines everywhere and backed up trains. Interested in seeing how you progress to the rest of the scenario
I don't know if you know and actively choose not to but you can have intersecting tracks i.e. Crossing without a bridge. If you plan the whole route then drop an anchor near the track you want to cross, you can then snap it to that track. It creates a crossing rather than a bridge. Not sure how it affects the efficiency of the lines but it works with trains waiting at the crossing for others to pass on the other line.
I use flat crossings occasionally, but I typically avoid them due to traffic delays.
Will be interested to see if you went way too long for Maintenance--I would not have gone over 30 days! But we'll see!
(You'll soon see (hopefully) you forgot to set directions on the one freight line from St down south.
So, don't know if you noticed or mentioned it previously, but I learned a few maps ago that you can cross a track by dragging an ajustment point onto the track to be crossed. No bridge needed.
I typically avoid flat crossings. The can cause unnecessary delays, especially with the auto-signalling of RE2.
@@Adekyn100 I really didn't consider that. I do like the single bridge approach you've been using. I'll have to give it a try.
You spent a lot of time trying to figure it out in ep 35...so I thought I'd tell ya....the profit per week on the main char page
Did you put signals on St. Louis to Memphis? You did not exempt Canned Food from Nashville (not going to be a problem for a while.. But needs to go to Huntington's Warehouse eventually).
AHHH passenger simulator my favorite game. Sub incoming choo choo choo😂
Enjoy the game.
i have found for personal if you 6 hours, 200,100,150,50 you get max percent and still get 100% recruitment :)
Is that cheaper?
@@Adekyn100 I haven't don't the math. But only about 1 10 sabotage make it through if that.
Looking at the train line it doesn't seem to cost any more plus with the tech tree you pick the training and well being discount
Finished this one a few days ago. My network ended up looking like a pile of spaghetti at the end. 😂 Not my best. Still managed to get CEO rating though...
Part three (coming up) is the anti-spaghetti episode.
Why not break off a section of your express rail line to build a double freight line and then reconnect your express rail line via a bridge? Your express line will not be delayed over a bridge while a freight train will be delayed quite a bit. You also cannot build a bridge with 2 rail lines over a single rail line. Not in sync with each other at all.
Why didn't you say that when I was doing it?
@@Adekyn100 I did.
You forgot your signals for the St Louis to Memphis line
I forgot signals? That never happens. :)
Since you know how to pronounce Louisville correctly, presumably it has also occurred to you how weird it is that the Ohio River is not on the map.
In a world where New Orleans is in Mississippi, nothing surprises me.
I used the Huntington warehouse with hotel for the star
Good idea.
That would be a good idea.. If you can change the maintenance to hotel.I'm not sure you can modify that warehouse in any way, but I didn't try deleting the Maintenance Depot. I did try to change other things and it would not let me.
Yeah delete the maintenance depot to a hotel then send one from each city automatic trains. It worked for that way
@@Mowg-bh1ld Yes, I just tested that. You can delete the maintenance depot on Huntington's Warehouse.
Just wondering: How did you get 20% maintenance requirements for the Forquenot? Seems impossible they start by 105% but I haven´t seen any bonuses you got there to bring it down to 20%
Combination of completed research and the 125% efficient engineer which reduces maintenance by 50%.
@@Adekyn100 seems I missed the completed research. At my start I only got it down to 45%.
Btw: bridge building
if you have a double track that won´t go over oder under a existing bridge, just cut of that part where the bridge is, build the part of the track you wanted to build before, including the bridge, then replace the previously removed part with the old bridge. Now you can build both parts of the bridge without getting a red section.
