- This symphony for concert band, written by Satoshi Yagisawa, is one of his trademark works...in other words, it is huge, grandiose, and heavily features his distinctive chorale style of writing. Each movement is a complete work in and of itself, but can be all played together equally well. This first movement, "The Blue Wolf on the Plateau," begins with a huge introduction, before dropping to some eerie improvisation from the percussion and lower winds. The movement then enters a fast and driving motif, before finally turning to a chorale-type setting to bring itself to a stunning close. :-)
Performed by the Tohoku Fukushi University Wind Ensemble.
