OK I FIGURED IT OUT, the way it worked for me specifically cause I had the same error happen which was driving me nuts. I deleted the imported videos that weren't working, then saved the videos off my SD card to my computer. Went and re-inported them to my project and they came back in working. Never had this issue before, so glad it worked!
This isn't working for me, I'm losing my mind, as soon as I paste the timeline back in, the footage with the camera symbol appears again in project media. Also what someone suggested in the comments about copying the file to desktop didn't work. Aaaaaaahhhh 😫
It's Black Friday it wasn’t working for me either at first but what I did was after pasting the video content into a new video and imported the files that I saved to my desktop from my SD card.... after a while I tried everything and nothing worked until I deleted the other movies I was working on. Once I got rid of those other ones that I was working on with the ‘corrupted’ files in iMovie, then I was able to save my video right away.
Becca Wiss - thank you! That solved the problem! I guess I had a copy of the corrupted file in the library or another event and so I just started deleting a bunch of old movies and files. Then I was able to start fresh and apply RBR's fix! So thx to you both! :)
This was an awesome fix. First iMovie I have made. Took me way too long to make while trying to learn the software. Then to not be able to share the movie at completion I found myself depressed not knowing why and upset that software that has been around forever has problems like this without solutions for the users. People like you that not only figure out how to work around the issue but are also gracious enough to take the time to make a video about the fix are software saints. Now I can start with my second movie with no fear of not being able to share it with others. Thank you and all those that commented as I used their comments to help me understand that I needed to delete the clips not only from the project but also from the event to make it work properly.
Have to make sure to paste after you are finished re uploading the videos! It’s paste options-all then go back and it will make paste available and click it and everything will go back to the way you edited it!!! Thank you!!!! Saved my 29:09 minute EDITED video!!!!!
I've tried all these steps, including the suggestions made by others. Nothing's working. The clip with the video icon keeps coming back no matter what I do.
Exactly, same here. I almost lost my timeline if I had not copied it to my clipboard when I was trying to delete everything to see if maybe I had corrupt files therefore the camera icon was there, but that didn't work. Have you found a solution if so that would be awesome if you could share it with me. This problem only started after my third recording session I'm starting to think maybe my SD chip has too much to import to iMovie. On the importing platform on iMovie the clips keep popping up in blue... :(
Has anyone ever told you you're a life saver? If they haven't.... my guy, YOU ARE!!! I can't tell you how many times I've started over editing a video for my UA-cam Channel in FRUSTRATION because of this. I just tried your method and it worked PERFECTLY! Now I don't have to throw my laptop 😬🤣🥰
Life saver! Thanks for sharing. One part you didn't really mention is your paste of the project timeline once the clips have been deleted and re-imported, but one could infer. Also, I had to find duplicate clips in all of the "Project Media" and the "iMovie Library" before it would allow the re-import. Thanks again, good work!

Then, I realized that the clips (referenced from the camera) were still saved in my master iMovie library (not just the event). I had to do the cut, and delete the clips EVERYWHERE in my library, and then reimport them and paste and it worked!!!!

Not working for me - I feel like there is a piece of video missing here, after you remove them it doesn't give you the option to paste it back
Yeah its missing a piece

Where can you find your big clip that you cut and put in your clipboard
