I came over here after seeing some hate for you and your video from some Mario fans and I had to check it out. To be honest, I agree with you. It had hundreds of flaws and I now can't unsee them. LOL Good job.
Toad was definitely done dirty in this movie! I like your idea of the toad army coming together to fight even though they can't use power ups. Lol, I think everyone can agree that the Luma wanting to die was the best part of the film. 😂
Having just watched Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse, which blew me away, I agree; Mario Bros was mediocre in the extreme because it was exactly the opposite. it challenged nothing, pushed no envelopes, didn't make us care about the characters. I struggled to stay awake. Totally agree on Jack Black, unfunny and overrated. His songs were cringe-inducing.
Makes me wonder how much could have just been Nintendo sanitizing a lot of input. I know this director was involved with the Teen Titans Go movie, and that one was very playful with the IP. But yeah they def kept the runtime super tight and short, and while the animation and original music is generally pretty great, the rest feels like window dressing
Friggin Seth Rogen. He's been in several animated features...and is the same thing EVERY time. We watch Monsters vs. Aliens often--and man. No difference between the B.O.B. and Donkey Kong. And all his other characters.
I keep seeing the ring lights in your glasses. I didn't think it was so bad considering the Super Mario Brothers that was released when I was a kid. I enjoyed watching it *with* my kid. I don't think it's a kids movie--I actually agree with the majority of what you're saying, but I still liked it. Er, watching it with my kid. Is that acceptable? I mean, I didn't really like Pixar's 'Cars' or any of it's sequels...but when I'm watching it with my son who's reacting--overreacting--to the smallest things, makes me laugh. Same reason I like watching the Godzilla movies. Don't know where I'm going with this. Haven't gone to bed yet, it's 7AM. Stormed all night. Really like the video though. Your review reminded me of Ask-a-ninja. Which I absolutely loved. Back in the day. Not sure if Ninja still talks about anything. Granted, your voice is higher, but the jump cuts, backdrop and mannerisms...very similar. (Super entertaining nonetheless). You're like...Ask-a-Voiceactor. Haha. LOL Watching it with someone else is fine but that doesn't mean the film is good, it means you have sympathy joy when you are being entertained by other peoples reaction. But that's totally a way of having fun with something. Much like watching The Room with someone who has never seen it. The pleasure is in their response to bad films. But again, this is more like being drunk or high watching something. The funny mirror or rose colored glasses YOU put on, doesn't really make the film a good one from launch. lol But I am glad your kid liked it. I just recently watch something I had since I was super young and couldn't believe I ever found it entertaining. Oh, the damage years does to our ability to turn our brains off. lol I so forgot all about Ask A Ninja! LOL That's amazing. I hope I can do a bunch more of these and get as crazy with the edits as he did.
I hear ya. I loved He-Man and the Masters of the Universe when I was a kid. I thought it was the coolest show, ever. Went back and watched the first episode and turned it off 5 min in. Two thoughts I had. One, I'm not going to ruin my good memories. Just because what I think now differs from what I thought back then. Two, most my favorite shows as a kid consisted of buff dudes running around half naked. (He-Man, Conan, The Incredible Hulk, Gargoyles, etc)
I really wish don bluth made a mario movie in the early 90's it would have been alot better than the live action movie or the illumination garbage mario movie
