No pressure or coolant in the cooling system, no oil cooler either, but the viscous fan that draws air through them is missing anyway. All sorts of parts vacant from the engine bay, hoses disconnected, breather pipe disconnected, with high back-pressure pushing burning oil out directly into a wheel arch. Brilliant all the same! Love it! 😃👍
Beautiful machine. In my country some people buy old cars , vans and truck and then sell them to countries in Africa . I know my dad sold two vans to a guy that does that . An Opel Kadett Van and a Nissan Vanette , both from the 80’s , both diesel .
It's aluminum so it will not rust. I believe Toyotas can be more reliable but rust kills them lol. I have an old land rover discovery In my yard I should restore. Maybe put a Cummins engine it it lol
Nice utility car! I like the fact that you can change from a taxi to a truck just by removing the seat. How much income do these jobs make in Congo? It seems easy enough for anyone to work if they know how to drive and have a van-type car.
@@matteow101 Well. Wages vary greatly depending on the country's prices and economic conditions. However, 4 USD is less than the hourly wage of a part-time job in developed countries. :(
How this engine runs is beyond me. Never mind that suspension is held together by pure faith. But the engine is not even wired to anything.. How the hell is that thing running
I do love that our landy’s are put to real use here like they are meant to. We see too many babied defenders on our roads now - such a waste of a tool.
They were never unreliable, they were very hard working trucks a very easy to be fixed in the field with basic tools. Many bang on about Toyota but show me a video of a 40 year old Toyota in this condition still earning its keep! I’ve seen them in The Gambia also…series 2s and 3s still working in harsh conditions
In Lusaka, Zambia, they still use old series 3 and first Defenders as break down / recovery trucks... Some has been modified by removing the Landy rear differential, and replacing it with what they can get. Landy diffs are off centre, I've seen one with a Pajero back diff, in the centre, with the propshaft at an awkward horizontal angle, but towing Toyota's, BMW's and any shining vehicle that breaks down... Wish I could place some photos of them on here...
Thank you for uploading videos, they give valuable insight on how life is in that part of the world :)
Pure slum mate! There’s nothing to be doing over there

If he hooked anything back up that rig would absolutely melt lol. He has it figured out to run certain distances under certain conditions lol
I do think he was running coolant of some kind tho. The yellow Jerry can looked like a makeshift radiator

When investors get into the African economy it's gonna blow! 📈
Absolutely incredible how much life cars have if there is no annual inspections or any safety laws lol
This country holds most of the world's mineral reserve. But, I wonder how come it's people can't even afford to buy at least a used pickup trucks.
Corruption more than likely.
Well if it ain’t broken don’t fix it
There are plenty of pick up truck In Congo
This car could easily be a character in a video game or tv show. Health -12%, but no one bothered to mention that
Health can’t be -12% if the cars runs and drives. 😅 so you don’t make sense
