Every summer I spend some time in my garage dying paper and gelli printing. Before I go out each year, I review this video because it has great basic inspiration. Thanks for making the video.
I've been on a search for gel plate printing as i want to do some on fabric. But most of the mixed media artists are too heavy handed for what I'm trying to achieve. Then today I got a message on your video!!!! I can't wait to try it with your light-handed technique. These are the faded out look I want and i've been using too much paint. The feathers and flower die cuts are my favorites and I think I want to try some real leaves, flower petals and such. I do have a comment for you to help conserve your paint - use a non-porous surface as your pallet - a piece of glass, acrylic etc. - and the paper to clean off your brayer. This way your pallet won't absorb your paint between plates. I use My Tim Holtz glass mat so I can keep several colors going without mixing them - it works great. I always leave here inspired!!!! Thank You.
It doesn’t matter how often I watch gelli plate videos I always learn something new! Putting the paint on the paper to roll out gives so much less paint going on, also I love the way you used the stencils too great video Gi xxx💕
Very nice, and I look forward to trying this, but I can’t figure out why anyone would hit the thumbs down button on these videos?!? Just don’t watch if you don’t like it! These videos take a lot of time, effort, and expertise; they are greatly appreciated by most ☺️
Thank you so much Gi, I really really enjoyed watching you create these stunning and gorgeous Gelli prints. I really appreciate you showing us all your techniques and I really really love ❤️ all of those prints. And I really think 🤔 your more o f as expert than I am!!!!!!! Please stay safe and well too. xxx Mags
This is by far the best and clearest instruction I've seen on using gelli plates. And the designs you made are awesome! Thank you so much for this video!
Gi, I also have watched many gel plate videos, and your method is Fantastic! I never knew to dry the layer a bit to get a clearer print. Thank you, I love watching all your videos; the variety is marvelous.
I´m goitng to make my own plate and was courious how you made backpaper. Seen a lot of others and you showed so much better,! Thank you, have to watch your other videos.
Oops I pressed too soon! What I wanted to say was I’ve had my gelli plates for years and have never used them, but after watching a few of your videos I’m definitely going to get them out and try them. So thank you for explaining so clearly! xx
Oh my goodness Gi! I have never seen such a great explanation of how to use Geli Plates before! I have been using WAY too much paint and have been so disappointed in my results! Now I know how to do it properly! Thank you so much!!!
Dear Gi, you make us children again! Fantastic technique. Could you create infinite decorations even with a toothpick? I hope to recover from Covid asthenia soon to be able to sit at a table and have fun. Thank you so much for giving me a new smile. A big hug
Hi, just saw your comment and wanted to say - I bought a gelli plate to try after watching this and the instructions say to never use sharp objects on it as it will damage the surface - use softer things like cotton buds or ends of paintbrushes for designs and go gently. Good luck with it!
I have to be with Yvonne here that I have never knew what a gelli plate was & what it was used for. Still having a hard time in figuring out this comes out so gorgeous when you're adding paint on top of paint & stencils & other things. I'll need to re-watch this one and may just invest in a gelli plate as I would like to make my own background papers! Thank you so kindly in showing this Gi. Be safe
Hi, Gi, love seeing you again!🥰 I’ve never seen this before, thanks for sharing! You getting muscles doing that!😁 Those are beautiful, love them! Hugs! I really like the leaves! Great job! Hugs!❤️
You are definitely a favorite pastime for me. I’ve learned so many tips and tricks and fun new things. Never boring. Thank you for sharing your talents..
Seriously, you have helped me to understand my gel press, finally! I tried it once and was too scared to do it again...I couldn't figure it out. Even by watching lots of videos by other people. So thank you for making me want to try it again!
OMG something else I think I would like to try. I love the ability to make my own papers and design whatever I like. So many choices . Really love this and it's just so personal. TFS glad you were having fun with it.
Ohhh, these turned out so well, Gi. I love the subtle colours and the beautiful feathers. This is one of the best gelli plate videos I've seen. Thanks so much for sharing. You've inspired me to get my gelli plate out again with some leaves for my autumn journal : )
I got some tips from your play! I often use multiple layers of paint and stencils which is fun. Ghost prints are sometimes better than the original! I also like to use water based ink...the stencils are easy to clean with that. I havent yet tried alcohol inks. Perhaps you could give that a play. I love using the gel plate...i had mine for a long time before i tried it. Awesome! I'm so glad i watched this video!
Excellent presentation. I have watched many gel plate videos. Your video is superior to most. You exhibit excellent control of the media and have such nice artistic sensibilities. Thank you from Charlotte, NC.
I’ve got a 6 x 6 gelli plate that I’ve had for a few years used once didn’t like what I did so consigned it to the probably won’t use again/I’ve wasted my money box. That is until I just watched your video and following your technique I have just printed 8 prints that I am really happy with and will use in mixed media and journals. Thank you so much for sharing this video you have made me very happy that my lack of talent just turned into lack of technique. X
Wow 🤩 I didn’t know this even existed. I’m so impressed and definitely have to purchase these items so I can create as well. Would be wonderful in journals ☺️💕💗
I'm so glad you did this. I look forward to the over painting too. I hope you scanned all of them because I could see some of them used numerous times. That green was scary - not gonna lie - lol!!
