My dog passed away the first day I discovered this piece. This is what I think of whenever I listen to it. I remember my dog and I suffer. damn man it's been over a year but I remember that tragedy like it was yesterday...
it gives me romantic vibes. Like the feeling of how an old couple would feel remembering their nostalgic memories with all of its ups and downs, how they met for the first time, how they developed feelings, how they manage to get married and build a family of their own. The melodies are flowing and each one compliments the others. It's colorful but soothing as well. So lovely to my ears. I love this piece 😭
Interesting. It makes me think of a cheerful pet, like maybe a dog. Until it reaches to the middle part (I heard Satie added that part later on). That makes me think of a cafe (this cafe I visited in Grand Central. And eating bread with a cup of coffee
Erik Satie has this strange gift, he puts a certain feeling in all his piece, but yet it is quite difficult to describe which kind of feeling you are experiencing from listening. Here it seems quite joyful, amusing but there is however a strange vibe I can' describe. Excellent performance and excellent choice of the tone of the piano for this piece!
There's always more than a bit of melancholy to Satie, even in a playful piece like this. I know what you mean when you say's difficult to describe. Sad and sweet, in a piercing way, but it makes you smile too.
Eric Satie has a beautiful gift to play the piano and not give up. If you choose to play the piano you do it never let yourself down never let people choose what you can do.
This really shows the french style of Erik, I absolutely love this piece. As he once said: “I’ve never written a note I didn’t mean.” And you can really see it in his compositions, every note has a significance.:)
@@my-self2278 yeah i tend to say pieces by their nicknames because often people dont really understand the piece im talking about if i say "chopins etude opus25 no5" or something:)
To me, it has sort of a carnival vibe. One where I could imagine someone reminiscing on blissful moments of their childhood. A time when everything was a playground. Nice vid! ✨
Fun Fact: This piece was originally a song with lyrics and it was written for Paulette Darty, an accompanist of Satie's. He later transcribed the work for solo piano, and adding a middle section between the second chorus and second verse. Great Job Flaming as always, underrated but such a beautiful and romantic Satie piece. Kudos to you!
This piece just eradicates the feeling of catastrophe and chaos. Coming back to this video gives me a nostalgic feeling, flaming piano has gotta be on the top recommened teachers from this perfectly well done and introduced performance Astonishing!

I wonder how Satie must have felt when composing this, I remember he didnt really have that many partners. He probably wrote this for a crush, I would have loved to know the backstory to this piece and many others.
I believe someone in the comments said this was originally written with lyrics and it was for an accompanist he had but he later composed it to solo piano and then added the middle bit. I don’t know if that’s true though

I think it might be his use of major seventh chords that gives this piece that kind of in-between feeling.
