I was stationed in the Army in 1959-60 with Elvis in Germany….he was a regular soldier and neither asked or received any special consideration despite his fame
Wow, that is really amazing! Thanks for sharing,... My mom was a huge fan and when he died, she told us all about him and we played his music a lot. Oh and she made me watch all of his movies too :) LJ
I was a young married woman when Elvis passed away. I was at work when someone brought the news in. We all just sat there, looking at each other. The word "shocked" didn't even come close. He was at his very best in this 1968 concert. It's how I like to remember him.
I was also at work when I learned Stevie Ray Vaughan was killed in a helicopter crash. I stood up and just walked out of my job and quit right there without saying a word.
I have heard others say Elvis did the stanky leg. He started so many things, bling, Cadillacs, entourage, sideburns, pink and black outfits, jumpsuits, and on and on. He changed the whole culture and influenced so many musicians including MJ. Watch the video of E and MJ dancing to "I Gotta Feelin' in My Body". It is a good one.❤❤❤
Elvis incorporated his martial arts moves into his act that was kind of what was going on in 60 eight, danced up out of the swing and the hips and all that stuff back in the early days, there's all else, but he did the old chops and pull it back and whatnot.
God sprinkled some special stardust on this man. He was gorgeous, charming, well mannered, deeply spiritual. He had stage performances that were groundbreaking. His voice was amazing, especially in his gospel songs. He was a rebel. He has sold over a billion records!

After his world-conquering fame in the 1950s and early 1960s, it's fair to say that Elvis's star was on the wane. His manager, "Colonel" Tom Parker, kept Elvis away from live performance for 7 years, and rather than going into the studio to record great albums, Elvis was churning out bad movie soundtracks for even more bad movies. So, it's fair to say that Elvis wasn't all too happy with where he was. He wanted a change, and in 1968, he got it. The clip you watched comes from the legendary 1968 Elvis Comeback TV Special. Btw, unbelievably, "Colonel" Tom Parker originally wanted Elvis to perform without any dialogue, wearing a cardigan sweater like that worn by Perry Como, in front of a fireplace and a Christmas tree, and sing 20 Christmas songs. Elvis' '68 Comeback Special, to be broadcast on NBC, was the first time Elvis was in front of a live audience in seven years. Colonel Tom Parker, Elvis's manager, had told the NBC team that he would handle ticket distribution. He assured them that he would recruit ("bus in") fans from across the country to fill the studio. However, by the day of the show, Parker had not distributed the tickets, and only a few people were in line to see the taping. So, producer-director Steve Binder and his team asked people from a nearby Bob's Big Boy restaurant to attend, and also advertised on local radio. For the informal jam session, Elvis, clad in black leather and surrounded by a few hundred, non-paying fans, played with a small group of musicians including guitarist Scotty Moore and percussionist DJ Fontana, who had been members of his 1950s backing band "The Blue Moon Boys."
I have read about Tom Parker not giving the tickets out. I don’t know if it was an act of sabotage because he didn’t agree with something or he couldn’t be bothered. Luckily, Steve Binder made sure there was an audience for filming.
MJ and many others to their credit openly admitted their moves and music was influenced by Elvis. Watch MJ's Billy Jean video and you will clearly see the influence as he copied some of Elvis' moves exactly. I have been a fan for over 55 years and I am thrilled that so many are still influenced by him.
@@kbrewski1 After Elvis Presley died on August 16, 1977, the African American newspaper, the Chicago Defender explained that: “When Elvis Presley breathed his last breath and the press hailed him as the ‘King of Rock,’ Ol’ Man River cried out, ‘Naw he ain’t! My friend Chuck Berry is the King of Rock. Presley was merely a Prince who profited from the royal talent of a sovereign ruler vested with tremendous creativity. Had Berry been white, he could have rightly taken [Presley’s] throne and worn his crown well.’”

My youngish grandkids saw this and one asked, “Isn’t this illegal!” ☺️
MJ and many others to their credit openly admitted their moves and music was influenced by Elvis. Watch MJ's Billy Jean video and you will clearly see the influence as he copied some of Elvis' moves exactly. I have been a fan for over 55 years and I am thrilled that so many are still influenced by him.
I grew up with this album. The whole thing was great. Includes interaction with the crowd.
The King of Rock! ❤️✌🏻🎶
CHUCK BERRY
Meu preferido ❤❤❤
Elvis Pressly The King of Rock n' Roll! ♥️
CHUCK BERRY
a title given to him by white America. Elvis recorded about 800 songs, right? Name 80 that were rnr for Elvis to be given the title king of rnr.
When I was 17 he was on tour and I wanted to go to the concert, but my parents wouldn't allow it. Then he died. Ugh, I was so upset! I was thisclose to seeing him before he passed. I remember him being a generous man. He'd just give a Caddilac away to random people. The King.
My dads favorite singer. He died a few months after I was born. I grew up listening to Elvis with my dad. ❤❤❤❤
I remember the day Elvis died - everything I was thinking, doing, everything. It felt like the world stood still. RIP legend.
