Whether it was black or white or purple, Elvis could kill it and still give props.
Elvis was raised in the Church. You can't make it sound sincere if it isn't. He was a beautiful man with a beautiful soul. Find one of his slower, a Regular southern gospel song,
Elvis anyone who knows his real history would not say he stoled their music. Elvis was humble and his gospel music could make you cry. You should hear him sing “ In the garden”. The man could lift your soul with his renditions of gospel songs. Those you know he really felt his music. The man was really really religious.
Whitney Houston's mother Cissy was one of Elvis's back up singers, and he didn't let anyone disrespect his girls. He once threatened to cancel a gig, because they didn't want the back up singers using the front door.
I always thought that he would have been pleased that Cissy's daughter Whitney Houston later sang the song "I Will Always Love You" by Dolly Parton. Elvis wanted to sing it but ran into issues with his manager wanting Dolly Parton to give up some of her rights to the song in order for Elvis to sing it. You can find UA-cam videos of Dolly Parton talking about it. Very interesting!

I am an Elvis fan from my childhood until now and I was listening to Elvis when he was still alive and I have heard many of his Gospel songs and probably every other song he sang except this one. So thanks for this 👍❤️
I think during that time Elvis was exploring his dark side and it just seemed weird that he had expressed that dark side? Because in that song “I am Saved” he’s expressing the Blood of Jesus notice how everything is red I’m thinking that’s his way of expressing that about the Blood 🩸 of Christ saving him. Then he wears all black in 68 comeback special. A big change? He’s taking you to church on one hand, then taking you to bed on the other hand 😂
I live in Elvis' hometown and grew up next to his cousin. When Elvis would ride his motorcycle down from Memphis to Tupelo to visit family and pull into Mr. Harold Ray's, I'd run over and beg Elvis for a ride. I was around 3 years old and only knew he was the sweet man who took me for ice cream and sang to me. I can remember him asking my mother to take me riding. She wasn't happy, but Elvis would put on that grin and say, I can't tell her no. You need to listen to "In the Ghetto," by Elvis. The more things change, the more things stay the same unfortunately.
It was 1968, and a black man was the feature dancer during prime time!!!! It was controversial and ahead of its time. Listen to elvis vegas' performance 1972(blue suit) How Great Thou art!
I saw a special on Elvis by a lot of old time black artists. they all were talking about how awesome he was to the community. When they folded and told him it was OK to bring his black background singers with him, he had the sistas brought in like royalty in convertibles like beauty queens in a parade. It was AWESOME
I am so glad to see you younger people FINALLY discovering Elvis. Having been a fan for over 50 years, let me say this: God created the world in 7 days. On the 8th day, he created Elvis. God was showing off his best work that day. This man is not a result of mere genetics, God did this. His Gospel is unsurpassed. May I suggest: How Great Thou Art, Without Love, Where Did They Go Lord, Only Believe, You Gave Me A Mountain (from his Hawaii tour). Also, Just Pretend, Danny Boy, Amazing Grace. The list goes on. This is the greatest voice of any century. Enjoy and let me know if you want more suggestions. Try and look for live performances and also rehearsals of Gospel. He takes you to church with his gospel. His voice can do anything. His best ballad by far is Tomorrow Never Comes. Enjoy.
Elvis was born in Tupalo, MS and was a twin. His parents were so poor that his twin brother was buried in a shoebox. Growing up he attending black churches. When he got older the moved to Memphis, TN and lived in the projects there. Gospel music was something he sang in everyone of his concerts and the emotion that he felt and made others feel when he sang it is unreal.

great reaction! It was fun to watch together. the king love gospels! Even though I have no real faith, I feel like God is touching me every time I hear Elvis' gospels. What did the record industry say in the 90s: “Elvis King of Music”!
I believe it's like B.B. King Said, once something has been created or exposed, such as music, anyone regardless of race or ethnicity can add to, or take from it, and expand on it.
Elvis had Gospel Albums. Lots to listen to. My favorites when I was a kid were, "Peace in the Valley" , "In the Garden" and "How Great Thou Art". Absolutely Stunning!
As a singer In all ranges, Gospel was his favorite, and you can feel/hear it. Elvis goes beyond "listening " alone .Elvis was a example for MJ, just as he was , for everyone that came after Elvis..before anyone did anything ,Elvis did everything.
Elvis not only sings it but he feels it and makes you feel it too! He has an album that’s nothing but gospel. His performances “ How Great Thou Art “ and “ Peace In the Valley “ are spectacular. Look up his gospel album and listen to it. I think you’ll love it. I hope you react to more. Of course being born in 1959 Elvis was my first crush so it’s safe to say I am biased. I got Elvis albums for Christmas and birthdays. I practiced dancing and singing like him from the time I could walk or talk. Lol. Praying for you and your precious family 😊❤️🙏🏼
When Elvis died way to young, he took the music to heaven. Can you imagine the jam session going on up there now. Pure talent and no auto tune or pitch control. Keep going down the Elvis rabbit hole.
Elvis started singing in church. Those were the first songs he ever sang as a child and I think the only Grammy he ever won was for gospel (don’t quote me on that). He was also a searcher. You can’t watch an interview about him without his friends mentioning all the spiritual books he was reading. He wanted to know, why him? He wanted to know why his twin brother died and he lived; why he rose to fame a fortune when so many didn’t. He gave away so much of his wealth. There’s a lot to Elvis that people don’t understand.
Elvis learned to sing in a gospel church. His mum was part native American and dedicated to christ. So was Elvis. He brought out lots of gospel albums. Truly awesome. What a waste that he was worked to death. ❤❤❤I'm a 60 year old Elvis fan, all my life.
❤❤ Me too. The first thing my grandbaby heard was an Elvis gospel CD. Check out his How Great Thou Art. Rivaled only by Carrie's, and that only because she did it Elvis' way.
Elvis won music awards for his gospel records. People forget this clip was from his 1968 comeback "Christmas" special it was more than a comeback special it was a Christmas holiday special that's why the show had lots of religious overtones, and tunes not to mention a tribute to Reverend M.L.K. at the closing of the show with the If I can dream song written specifically for this show. R I.P. M L.K./Elvis and all the brave souls that were assassinated in the 1950's,60's✌️❤️🙏🙏🙏
Lovin' it. ❤❤❤Elvis faced a lot of controversy during the Civil Rights Movement, because he sided with Blacks. Several songs he did added fuel to the fire, but he pushed thru that. Being raised in Tupelo, MS, he was exposed to a lot of Gospel. Living in Memphis, there was R & B everywhere, so it stands to reason he would sing those genres as well. He got me hooked on gospel. He has several albums that don't get much play anymore. You mentioned MJ and how he could have been influenced. The Jackson 5 came out in 1968. Isn't it ironic he married Elvis Presley's daughter? Elvis did Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers. It was beautiful.

The only Grammy's Elvis won were for his Gospel! Elvis is never better than when he sings Gospel!

why?
great reaction! It was fun to watch together. the king love gospels! Even though I have no real faith, I feel like God is touching me every time I hear Elvis' gospels. What did the record industry say in the 90s: “Elvis King of Music”!
BP, if this gives you goosebumps you really have to hear him sing " How Great Thou Art"
I believe it's like B.B. King Said, once something has been created or exposed, such as music, anyone regardless of race or ethnicity can add to, or take from it, and expand on it.
How Great Thou Art, Where no one Stands Alone, and Peace in the Valley are some must listens of Elvis's gospel music
I love how Lisa Marie did "Where No one Stands Alone" featuring her Dad❤ it's most definitely on my forever playlist!!
Amen brother.
Elvis had Gospel Albums. Lots to listen to. My favorites when I was a kid were, "Peace in the Valley" , "In the Garden" and "How Great Thou Art". Absolutely Stunning!
Elvis had entire Gospel albums.
I have an Elvis gospel cd
Thank u Brother for knowing n telling the truth about ELVIS!! 😊
Elvis’s voice in gospel outshines all other genres, he can practically bring you to the lord! ❤
Elvis is the only one in 5 Hall of fame
Please watch him sing HOW GREAT THOU ART. live. Talk about chills..❤
I can't wait to hear this and the reaction. It is Elvis at his best. Live.
Elvis did several gospel albums and their great you should definitely react to them if you love gospel you'll definitely love them
When Elvis died way to young, he took the music to heaven.
His mother was part Cherokee.
“So, how do you stay in such good shape?”
“I’m one of Elvis’ dancers”
“Got it. Say no more “
Elvis did traditional gospel albums...this was more jazzed up for his TV special.
Next should be Elvis, Crying in the chapel! Love your reactions!
