Film jahanara ke do gaane talat sahab ke gaye hue , teri Aankh ke Aansoo pee jao aur phir wohi sham wohi gham wohi tanhai hai in gano ko talat sahab se acha koi aur nahi gaa skta tha ,
Talat Mahmood was liked much for his silken voice .Gazal singer Pankaj Udhas truly said "when we hear Talat sahib , it seems that something sweet and 'nashili chiz' is poured into our ear." Apart from other famous music directors like Nawshad, Anil biswas , ghulam Mohd, salil choudhury, O.P.Nayaar ,Nashad (zindgi ya toofan)during black n white days , later on Madan Mohan ji utilised him for classic coloured film "Jahan Ara". The songs "tere ankh ke aansoo pi jaoon " & "phir wohi sham" are unforgettable. Of course, he was once utilised by him during black and white days for the famous sad song "meri yaad mae tum na aansoo bahana". Regards
Talat sahib was equally famous for his Bengali songs. Initially he used the name 'Tapan Kumar ' when started singing in Bengali. Many of his Bengali songs were superhit . He also sang for a Bengali film produced in Dhaka(Bangladesh) in 60's. Such was his popularity amongst Bengali speaking people. Thanx to our respected Tabassumji for presenting this video.Wish you long life with your childish image.
Me and my late father used to talk a lot about his unique voice quality and used to call him the 'Singer of midnight melodies'. Ek aisi awaaz jo ruh ke taar zanzanaa deti hai.
Itna na mujhse tu pyar barha is just amazing. My birth year is 1998 and here I am listening to old melodies and trying to know about the legends like talat Mahmood. Mam please make a video on the great Madhubala and the great Dilip Kumar ( independently ) as well. It's a request.
It was so nice to read your comment! How can I describe that evening when I was in the audience listening to Talat. It was pure magic! Loudspeakers had to be placed outside the hall. So that people gathered there could listen! The program ended at 1:00 am! With best wishes, Pradip Trivedi.
Sorry but it is naive to think that past was always good , there was both bad and good in all era's. Infact we are living in best of the times. Want proof? 1) There was more poverty back then, that means that there was more suppression of the poor back then. Do you think aliens did atrocities on those poor? 2) Bloodiest wars happened in that Era and in India millions died during partition, if only nice people lived then who killed those millions? 3) There was a wider gap between have and have not's , unemployment was at its peak...that means only few (Upper castes ) were privileged ..that's the reason reservations came in later. GOOD and BAD is a perspective and it depends on which side of the fence u r in .
I was born in 83 but love the songs of this golden era so much. Your channel is really a pole star that shows the path to the loves of such gems of golden era. Lots of love Tabassum ji....
Early 50s was reverberating with Talat Saab’s voice. In an interview he had said that immortal K L Saigal was his idol. And he took up singing as he was greatly inspired by Saigal.
Itna na mujhse tu pyar badhaa ke mein ek badal aawara song from movie chhaya is mine favourite song by talat mehmood saheb. Thank you ma'am for this melodious journey of a great legend.

I would always salute the legend named Talat Mahmood. He is a gift from God. What a great voice he had. He must have been a sweet person. I wish I could meet him in person
I love watching your videos because my father got me hooked to old songs and movies. Can't watch or hear songs of my generation. Talat Sahab is my mother's favourite. Will show her this video. Did not know that he had succumbed to Parkinson's disease. May his soul rest in peace. Amen

Tabassum ji, had the privilege of meeting Talat saab several times. The perfect stylish singer and a chain smoker. A wonderful person and very humble.
