As far as the handle grips go I would probably look into some of the Winn replacements. Love those on my Lews reels. Keep it up my guy!

Great review man, got a subscribe out of me. Thinking about grabbing this reel to put on a 7’6” heavy fast with some 50# braid to use as a flip/pitch/punch setup. Think it’s a good fit for that.
The fit, where he slammed it down, was priceless.. the look of instant regret burned its image in my soul though! Very nice rig though, and I'm seriously considering making it my next purchase. I like my Lews, but..........

I use mono on mine and it spools evenly. If you spool up the reel starting with the line guide in the center, it tends to spool up more evenly.
I use this reel for my power rig. It does everything you can ask. Preordered the elite version. Cannot wait. That will be the breakthrough reel for them.

I ordered the Megatron
I'm new to fishing. I bought the Ugly Stick GX2 and the vids said it's a good rod but super cheap reel. I looked on eBay and saw the Megatron and the vids said it was a good reel.
I need to get another pole. My Ugly Stick is 4 pieces and no matter how much I push the poles together, sometimes it flies to pieces when I cast it.. I don't want to tape it.. I might take it back.. I don't know yet.
Nice combo I only have 2 as of right now I use one spinning one baitcasting I def need an all around better combo that is better quality for sure or at least a better reel if anything. I think the rod is pretty good just the reel is not the greatest thing made but gets the job done overall pretty well

I have the exact same reel, was delivered broken however, defect from Kastking...they were very prompt in getting me a new one out to me though...waiting on the frog bite to try it out...

I bought the KastKing Crixus Dark Star over the Megajawz because of the knobs. Plus it matches better with my Crixus rod I use as my frog rod.
Nicholas Martin I didn’t see the dark star when I got this one lol. And really thought the knobs would be a little better. But it’s a freakin work horse. And it matches the rod lol. Which is obviously important!
I got the Spartacus instead of the Spartacus maximus because the color scheme matched perfectly dark metallic green and black on one of my custom rods I have been just beating the hell out of it with fish drops blackberries trolling cranks mud rain sunshine it's just a tank

@@OklahomasWorstAngler cant say I've done any more than play with the royal legend elites at the last outdoors show but it did feel incredibly solid. The kapstan is the next one I'm looking at purchasing for myself I bought a mega jaws for a friend for his birthday last year and he uses it of the jetty in saltwater for seabass and lingcod then turns around ancatches bass up to coho salmon in fresh water with it kastking makes some dam versatile reels

They do sell knobs cover so ur hand don't slip , u can buy that

I've picked up a couple of Piscifun reels and have noticed that if there is any resistance on the line that the thumb bar gets difficult to press. Do the Kastking reels do the same thing in your experience?
No sir, KastKing reels did me great for a long time. I had a Piscifun reel too and so many issues
Big Kastking fan but I did just grab 2 Sixgill Rods I wanted to try out cause they have a BOGO going on now with their rods.

Hey I’ve had two 7’3 Six Gill creature rods for two years. They did a buy one get one free, I thought what a sweet deal! Was disappointed when they first came in because the rod was slightly curved when looking straight down the pole, not a big deal just slight con. Sensitivity wise they’re a meh. Not great but not terrible. The eyelets are the downfall of the rod. They’re a cheap plastic and they fall off. Both rods are unusable for almost a year now because of this. The metal of the eyelet will shred and fray your line until you break off eventually. For the first year it was okay. In my opinion not worth the money. There are way better rods today like daiwa feugo. I wouldn’t recommend sixgill imo
Since this my Sixgill stuff is gone. The reel seats all broke on them.

Dude it’s still Kickin and still solid!! I had a couple royal legend reels and loved them, but the megajaws has held up better I think

Dude you bought the rigged rod ?? Awesome , I have one I think the defender is the best bang for the buck out of the ones I have . I dont have a white bird though. I use flairs froggin and flippin stick for my frog rod . I know nit a fan of Flair me neither tbh but the rod works well. Thinking about trying a kastking one if these days for the price you cant go wrong if they work as well as you say !!
Shawn Murphy oh bro, I don’t like the kid, but his name on that rod doesn’t mean anything lol. Favorite makes those rods and they’re badass. And I have two white birds and the phantom, not the rigged lol. Kast king is dope too. Both those brands have served me well

Then you get one that performs at that price point and breaks in 3 months . Nice to take some guess work out of it and get the ok from someone who ran the test all ready . Going to order some of the blacklist jigs this week too .

@@OklahomasWorstAngler I dont have any reels 8:1:1 my fastest is 7:5:1 I tend to speed fish do my moving baits like chatterbaits spinnerbaits swim jigs I throw on 6:8:1 slows me down some

Have you actually tested the drag rating? I read another review where they said the drag rating was way lower than stated.
Actually no I never did test it on this one. But I also never had an issue horsing fish out of grass or pads when I used it for frogging
Have you checked if the knobs are screwed in? if they are not rivits you can just swap them out.
BassMan Strikes I haven’t, but I’m thinking of just putting some grips on. It’s a small gripe, definitely doesn’t keep me from using it though! Lol
Might be able to find a whole handle assembly on aliexpress for it as well. I will have to see how i like or dislike them, but I do prefer the black rubber ones, they don't get as slick as the fake cork or EVA knobs.

Oh man I really don’t know... I didn’t have that issue that I can remember. Have you tried loosening the tension knob? I know it sounds silly, but it could be affecting the clutch
@@OklahomasWorstAngler I was watching a world of outlaws race on my laptop and the whole time I engaged the thumb button about 3000 times It now works fine I guess it needed to be broken in a bit. I have many Kastking reels and never had this problem,back fishing tomorrow!

cheap braid is not round.. get good braid like powerpro it will solve the line digging into itself issue
Man this was so long ago lol. I've switched to the P line braid and now tryin the suffix 832. Both are killer and seem to cast much better than the power pro I've had. But thats just my experience brother! *had to edit the first part because I read your comment wrong 👊🏻
