Awesome review! Also, I’m just a supporter of the brand, no affiliation or vested interest. I had a great experience with the products and customer service. Tight Lines!
@@8xupoutdoors my two go to reels for daily use are the OG 9.1:1 MegaJaws without all of the bells and whistles running the KastKing 13x Braid (13 carrier) yes it does make a huge difference, second is 6.5:1 Upgraded MegaJaws (non elite) also 13x, and the Kapstan 300 for my catfish/ salmon (KastKing Hammer Braid, extremely abrasion resistant) I have 8#,10#,12#,15#,20#,30#,40# and even 80# in the Kastpro Spectra.
Were you casting with your line going under the line guide rod? (I dont know that's what its called) And your other Reel looks like a Royal Legend elite
You’re the second person that caught that. You are 100% correct. Not the proper setup. Have since fixed it and would still 100% stand behind the review. It’s actually probably more impressive when it’s actually strung up correctly.
I just bought one and I found like all baitcasters, you have to dial in each lure or it will backlash. I didn't see much difference from my other casters.
Definitely still have to dial it in, there’s no “magic” fix. However I did notice that when it would start to backlash the brake system did seem to help prevent it from getting extreme.
I just might have to get one of those reels. Recently I got a cheap Abu Garcia baitcaster and I can't believe how hard it is to backlash. But it doesn't cast very far compared to my Penn Squall baitcaster. But I can't expect it to with a $130+ difference in price. The Kastking could be good for redfish and trout around the Chesapeake Bay. I'd love to have a baitcaster with fluoro, both of mine have braid. Perhaps the Kastking is a good choice for me.
Most of the time my baitcasters are being used for Trout fishing. I almost exclusively use braid to Fluorocarbon on everything just seems to cast so much better across the board for me. Thanks for watching! Let us know how it goes if you end up picking one up. Ty
I have several Kastking reels and have backlashed them many times, especially the latest one I purchased and put 10lb test line on it. I just put 12lb mono on it to see if that helps some. I have been using bait casting for well over 40 years and I haven't found a reel that doesn't backlash. The irony is that my old Daiwa PMFs will zillions of cast on them still out perform most anything out there, but part of that is certainly the fact I am better with them than the Kastking reels. No doubt though the Kastking reels are fantastic for the dollar!
Have the red kast king mega jows elite is a great reels for the money kast king mega jows elite is the best love iam looking to get the kastking mega jows elite 7.1to1
Would have been better off with the motor running instead of the loud ass music lol. I would say only play music while you're not talking and just testing stuff then no music or turn way down while explaining stuff 🙉😬🤣
Turn down your background audio, it's almost as loud as your narrative. All reels will backlash a little if you don't thumb the spool when your lure hits the water. Even my Shimano DC's do it. And if I might suggest dumping that 10# braid and spooling 30#, you're less likely to get any backlashes or line digs. Lastly, how about doing a follow up video after using with different baits for a couple months. Good luck out there.
great video. But I gotta say dude...that background music while you're talking is nothing less than ANNOYING AF and incredibly distracting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awesome! Thanks for letting me know, so far I’ve had a great experience with kastking as well!

Good job in the review, but the music it TOO LOUD!
Thanks for the feedback! We appreciate ways to get better.

Absolutely agree. There is no replacement for experience.
If you tightened the tensioner knob one click, the backlash would have stopped
Absolutely, for this video was really testing the claims of KastKings new break system. Proper adjustments make a huge difference!

Nice! We’ve been super impressed with them. Especially for a value reel they hold up incredibly well.

Still learning thanks for the feedback!

If you have a weighted lure then it should be fine. Break 7 and higher or rats nest. Bait caster normally = heavy lure only.
That’s definitely been my approach so far!
You need to turn down yr back ground music
Still learning, sorry about that.

Sorry about that! We’ve got that from a few people on this particular video. Something with the balancing wasn’t done right, we’re working on it!
Can barely hear what this guy is saying.
Yup we’ve got that a few times on this video, still learning.
JUNK….
