None of this is new and it doesn't just happen in China. I went to HS in Queens, NYC and one of my neighbors was a Jewish family that that sold their house in the mid 80's to a young Chinese couple with a young child. The husband was a hard working ABC employed by the phone company who I rarely saw as he worked a lot of overtime. The wife was from the mainland and barely spoke any English. She supposedly stayed home to look after the kid, but I never saw her actually looking after the young boy and he spent all his time outside with his friends. After a couple of years I noticed that I actually NEVER saw the husband anymore and it turned out she had divorced him and taken the house and all his savings.
