K.D. is wonderful and real at every age. I love how she is always herself, never defensive. The interviewer is affable but sometimes has that air of condescension to a female and a female that is unique but she goes past all of that and just plays it off. She's so great.
The intelligence and charm so evident in this interview. This young lady was destined for great things. And she delivered the goods for years to come. It is so wonderful to see the young artist in her formative phase 35 years ago.
Loved this interview with a very young kd Lang. I also loved Webster's comment and kd's reaction to: "You're very bright for prairie people." If he had only known. Priceless.
Fantastic… I am s very proud to have seen her in Toronto at the Forum, way back in the late 80’s. Her rendition of “Skip a Rope” was performed, around the rotating stage and she literally skipped using the mic cord. Never saw it again.
This is a wonderful interview. k. d. looks young, but she projects an inner confidence when she answers his questions that seems to belie her age. I wish there were a home video of her singing when she won that contest at age 5. Wouldn’t that be fun to see and hear! That experience is what launched her career, I think! 😊
How weird is this....it is 2.30 a.m. in May 2022 and I stumbled onto this from watching music reaction videos....I am a long-standing kd fan but have not seen this before 🙂
KD was so young. I saw her play at Sidetrack in Edmonton and at the Commodore Ballroom with the floating floor on Granville St in Vancouver in early 80's. KD was so energetic, fun & uber talented - truly a great performer.
I remember watching this interview with my mom. Jack was on like at 9:30 AM. Jack loved kd. You knew if kd was in town (Vancouver, BC) because Jack had her on his show.
K.D. Is such a happy and peaceful soul! So kind and empathetic with people and overall extremely self confident and happy ! True inspiration to learn how to be grateful with was given to us. Not easy sometimes❤❤❤
I can't imagine how horrible it was for K.D. to be forced to wear skirts/dresses/low heels/etc. NO matter how many low brow insults the interviewer throws at her, she is calm, sweet, and so darn cute. She's not about to give them the satisfaction of showing a hint of anger. I honestly think she looks at their side, as well. She tries to understand and respect their views to a point. However, her intelligence shines. The way she comes back with her sweet demeanor....which makes the interviewer look like an idiot. Sorry folks, I'm one who speaks her mind. Being the Aries that I am of course I get myself in trouble every now and then. Then there are those who love the way I am. I wished I had the patience and kindness that K.D. has. God Bless her! I totally LOVE her!!
The interviewer (Jack Webster) was the best thing about this, I think he showed KD Lang the utmost respect, no idea what you’re talking about when you say “makes the interviewer look like an idiot”, she was having a laugh with Jack, and Jack loved it too, so stop talking nonsense 😂
It's so wonderful to see this 40 years in the future and know she was right. She was already a star and had all this feelings about the world and spirituality. God bless, k.d.!
What year was this? KD..... so free, natural, cool, talented...etc. I'm so proud that she is a fellow Albertan. My first glimpse of her was Closing Ceremonies of 1988 Winter Olympics and I was definitely 'struck'. It doesn't seem possible that we've both lived this long and never became friends... a girl can fantasize, right?
k d's intelligence revealed in her interviews attracts me just as much as her incredible talent.
She's brilliant at singing and intelligent expression of her feelings , thoughts, and ideas.

So self composed! So tough and gentle, so freaking smart and lovable! I adore her!
OMG. She was just thoroughly charming! On top of all that great talent. That was a fun interview to watch.
Even at that young age you could see she was going to be a legend. Thank you KD.
Better than elvis

I love this interview. So fun to see k.d. so young. What a self assured person she was even then. But, not at all “in your face”!
Such a sense of humor along with everything else....gotta love her
k.d. has so much going on upstairs. Her way of thinking, philosophy, if you will, is part of her voice.
It’s 2:30am and I can’t believe I watched the entirety of this utterly delightful video

I remember watching this interview with my mom. Jack was on like at 9:30 AM. Jack loved kd. You knew if kd was in town (Vancouver, BC) because Jack had her on his show.
I love this interviewer, Jack. He is so respectful of this quirky young woman in front of him.

Adorable one !!!
Great stuff... need more of kd like this. Thank you.
We just need more of kd lang then, now or anyway. We would take anything she wants to sing to us!!

That was wonderful... I can't remember seeing / hearing Jack so giddily effervescent before! 🤓
I remember watching this live and loving her at the time.
k d is a delight.
Excellent interview KD!..Webster is a riot! 😉😁
She is sooooo freaking cute! She looks sixteen!
Haven't seen this before - what a treat !
TheLangChannel , I get a kick out of this interview ❤️. I love k.d.and jack’s interaction 😉
She was Still developing her vocal style here, which she soon refined. Love her.
Audio drops out for a few seconds at 18:00 - not sure if that occurred on the original broadcast or not...
Who knew TV was ever this loose! Great stuff!
I've been a fan of kd lang since Torch and Twang released, it's wonderful to see this earlier interview.
Wow she was what 20. 18. So beautiful. So Young. Love u Katie.
This is wonderful!!!😁
My introduction to k.d. was on Webster! I think I saw this interview when it originally aired. So cool.
Jack Webster was a brilliant host, great interview.
Omg!!! She looks like a teenager here! So young!😊
That shirt. Her mind. Obsessed.
It's so wonderful to see this 40 years in the future and know she was right. She was already a star and had all this feelings about the world and spirituality. God bless, k.d.!
Yes that is so good song i like that . I love the songs from K.D Lang . i was also born in 1961 .
I’m the reincarnation of k.d. Lang! She is working through me (too bad I didn’t get her voice). Seriously, how adorable does she look here?!
She looked so adorable in the 80s
What year was this?

Roz Ficatch 1985 01 15.
I LOVE KD LANG VERY BEAUTIFUL
AND VERY NICE IF SHES A SING
That was a beautiful beautiful song. Tears
The world was a different place in 1985!
She's sooooo cute!🙆🥰
I remember watching this. LOL. It was the first person
Oh my heart -
Heard this on the radio, bought into her voice and followed her thru the ages. Patsy Cline was as equally
talented as KD Lang.
This is so much fun!
She knows herself in and out.
love his accent
This interview is in 1985.
Just an alarmingly intelligent woman
Holy F - This interviewer throws a whole lot of shade toward her - and she handles it like a Boss ... Wow kd - so sorry and great job!!!
It's not shade it's Jack, he was that way with every one.
By the way... KD fan forever !
I designed a house in Fort Langley that K.D. bought
That's pretty cool! Good work! :)
THAT WAS A RAW SINGING BUT SHE'S ANAZING❤❤❤❤
I love this interview.... 😂 Did he just tickle her foot 🦶 through the boot?
💕
Blue 💙💙💙🎉
where is she these days?
What year was this interview? K. D. looks so young.
1985
It's k.d. Lang Not K.D. Lang
She has a much better voice than Patsy Kline.
Lived in Vancouver then, remember ole Jack Webster, stodgie old school scot- Brit, typical B.C.... even now, anything different is 😲🤤😨☠😭? 2018
Percy?
Guitar slightly out of tune.
Yes, K D pointed that out herself.
The guitar out of tune🤣🤣
creepy talk about reincarnation
Sorry.. don’t believe reincarnation
oh dear Jesus I wonder what has happened to this woman today. If she still is deceived by these spirits.
This person must be a hybrid cause she looks just like a man with a womanly voice.
That’s extremely homophobic.
@@cat-breath9684 Well she does.
Recognizing gender fluidity is not homophobic. It’s when you add judgment that it becomes hatred
how does someone "look like a man"? clothes and haircuts aren't gendered.
@@terrygrant326 Oh fuck off with your fucking levels of stupidity.
boy howdy
Omg!!! She looks like a teenager here! So young!😊
