Nice! I spent 3 years travelling the outback of Australie. Sometimes I didn't meet a living soul for up to 7 months and was at least 1000km away from any human. Hard work, but lots of liberty. I travelled alone, with my own 3 camels.
Within 4 months, I had two large huntsmen spiders reveal themselves from my helmet as i was travelling. No camping involved, just the helmet hanging on the back of the bike. I'm starting to think about storing the helmet in a zipped up pillow slip or such 😂🇦🇺
A full grown Huntsman will jump straight onto your face if you stress it out , then it will jump back on to the wall and just stand there looking at you like did you like that ! They are supper fast and very smart and get a big as a dinner plate
Glad you mentioned not bring entertainment on your first trip (5:40). This is something many people do first time. Glad to see you made amends in this, later on. A Nintendo is as good an entertainment unit as any. Entertainment is a must for the inevitable down time, which happens eventually. When I did camping on long motorcycle commutes back in the late 80s and 90s, I had an array of long forgotten handheld gismos (Casio number invaders; Franklin WordMaster dictionary with games, etc. Plus a couple of paperbacks, a portable chess/checkers set, and a transistor radio. These days I’d take my old Nintendo DS XL with game cards for chess, solitaire, 100 classic books, & a foreign language learning card. The DS has a time clock and is good as a night light. Got a backup power supply for it as well. I’d also take a Sangean emergency solar radio with time clock, SOS function, and torch. Enough entertainment for months, if not years. Thanks for posting your YT video.
I did pretty much every mistake that you listed on my first trip, including having to find a place to sleep in the pitch black. It was great, I'm looking forward to my second!
Great video! During my first solo night camping, the thing that freaked me out the most was the sounds of the forest... My solution was earplugs 😁 Many solo night later, I still use them, but not to calm myself down, just to have a good night sleep (I'm a light sleeper). Cheers from Poland 🙂
Very nice video! As solo camper myself i can agree it gets better and better. First camp 1h sleep, second 3h etc. My last one i slept like a baby for 8h straight and overslept! Funny thing also this was the coldest night aswell. Go for it!!! One tip also. Bring music. Makes the experience even better.
Great subject matter. I'm doing my first moto camp this year. This addressed many of my concerns. Love your channel, it has a great look, great shots, true artist at work.
I'm pretty used to camping in campgrounds even by myself; I always feel more nervous in the wild. But it's really great to be out alone. Mostly I camp outside of cell phone signals, so I always carry a Garmin InReach to let my wife know I'm safe for the night. Great advice, thanks.
Love this! My first time i barely slept a wink. I had Possums (that i thought were Tassie Devils but were in fact two Possums mating 😅), and wallabies all sniffing around my tent and my over active imagination thought I was about to be murdered in my sleep 😆. Now, i absolutely love solo camping, its my quiet zen space to recharge 🧘♀️
good advice rob.at 65 years old, trying new things.got a Yamaha xt 250.going to look at the new triumph scrambler 400.you got me wanting a triumph.take care.ride on.
Thanks for this video. This is an interesting subject, I’d love to do solo camping with my bike but I went to a new region where I don’t have friend and it always block me from going camping outside. You’re right, it must be fear. Something to overcome, and here, in France, the most dangerous animal is the man 😅
Always really enjoy your videos, the footage and scenery is superb. You were spot on about the fear of Solo camping in my case. For me the three types of riders, rally, that’s you, Formula One, the Day boys, and then me the Le Mans. Riding to Vegas with one stop from British Columbia Canada and will have to search out your excellent video on how to set up your Mike in cameras, just an example of how useful your videos are and thank you.
Avoiding people - yep, that's the benefit of solo trips. That can be a challenge when with others & they want to caravan park it or such. I just got back to Asia after a trip from picking up a new Vstrom 800 in Katherine NT & riding out to the Kimberley. Nice time to get away from the crowds. A bit too early for the Gibb River Road & some locations I wanted to check out but still a great time & I will head back in a month & continue the trip, when tracks fully open up. Keep up the great work with your vids. Cheers.
LOL. great video! I solo travel in Baja..1000 miles down and 1000 back. Always alone...carry a knife but not a firearm in Baja...everywhere else I do however and I feel its insane NOT to when you can. I just mounted the Samsung Active5 tablet on my bike with various off road and mapping apps, then take it off the bike and into the tent for watching Netflix, or reading or games or whatever. It's brilliant. I dont ride at night in Mexico...mostly. I eat and cook as I go and love the adventure part of it. You've helped me a lot with the Insta360 video editiing etc. I'm on a Tiger 900 Rally Pro which I love and eats up the miles and goes about anywhere! Thanks for the great vids mate! Watch out for the gators and snakes and everything else in Aussieland that can kill you! I"ll watch out for the cartels. Deal !
I see a Garmin satnav! How do you rate it in the day of phone mounts? Seems like a sensible redundancy to me, but you’re the expert and I’d love your opinion!
Some more advice: don't hesitate to leave if things feel unsafe. There is a difference between being out of your comfort zone and being in danger, and it may be hard to gauge when you're out there alone, but only you know your limits. I'd be willing to bet most people get a bit nervous on the first night of camping season, I know I do. Keep yourself as packed up as you can so you can leave in a hurry if you need to.
No fear .. its money.. yeah it is the money xD Just the camera gear alone cost a small fortune then add all the camping stuff AND the cost of the adventure, gas, food ect.. yah it is money holding me back :D
Agree... I've always carry the Sony FX3, one or two lenses, the drone, the osmo 4 and insta360... and the bike! That's 1y salary just to lose in one night camping. Never had an issue travel around Europe, but the fear is there!
There are super cheap alternatives for gear. Cheap tents, mats and bags. I recommend starting this way Incase you don’t enjoy it. Just got on a warm night, with a basic dehydrated meal and you’re set to go !
Affiliate link for free motorcycle bundle kit doesn't work. It's just a selfie stick. I'm assuming it's an error but keep that in mind before you buy an x3. EDIT: Link works now.
man.... any tips on how to record camping vids on motorcycle if i only have 1 go pro and my phone?? i would love to buy one Insta 360, but it's too expensive for me, i live in Costa Rica and ordering one i'ts too dang expensive, i have lots of beautiful places to visit and share on youtube from Costa Rica, and i don't know exactly how to make the most out of my phone and my Hero Black 5, please any advice would be great, love your chanel BTW.
Tried to camp alone, in an empty beach. It just gets boring, even when riding alone. It's just better with friends. And when you're at the bottom of the list, it just gets sad.
After being bitten and stung on the foot by a bastard bull ant, and finding two others in the tent looking very angry, I make sure to take some ant powder.
First time I went moto camping I went to a normal camp site because I wanted to test out my gear for a bigger trip. But I struggled to sleep because I was worried about keeping other people awake with my snoring! (My wife tells me its really bad) Hopefully i won't have to worry about that with wild camping! 😅

I’m 75 and still camp off my bike solo. I recently added an Inreach to my equipment.

Whoa huntsman are harmless right?
@@road_king_dude they're not venomous, but they've got impressive fangs and I wonder if the bite might get infected.
Nightmares right there!
@@MotoFeelz overreacting to the spider and crashing is the bigger nightmare, eh.

Go simple, go now … embrace your fears, and find more freedom.
First time i went, it was the end of spring and it got below 38 degrees at 2 a.m. i wasn't prepared for that 😅
I did pretty much every mistake that you listed on my first trip, including having to find a place to sleep in the pitch black. It was great, I'm looking forward to my second!

Yes I’ve heard of others doing this. It’s the twigs snapping from something walking around that gets me
@@MotoFeelz yes, always sounds like a man with an axe, but it's just an animal 😉

Good stuff mate. What bag is that at 2:30?
Good tips. Agreed on getting to know your surroundings while it's daytime. Huge help.

Haha - must say I’ve fallen victim to other snorers when at a paid camping site. I think I’d rather be scared haha
I've had that issue too, I just tell people that I'm trying to scare the bears away!
If I can ride from Cambodia to Bangkok on a $50 half century old 110 cc POS you can do it on a real bike.
Now THATS an adventure! I’d love to do something like that haha

I prefer 782Hz

Do you encounter snake?

Maybe carry an EPIRB? Emergency beacon
Yes I will for more remote tours

oh yeah, sure, going camping in your country ur scared of tree stumps, koalas and bees... in my country there's wolves and bears, no thanks LOL

Glad I don’t live in Australia 😆
you really won't be into firearms when the bad guys show up with one, grow a pair
Mate, were from different places
The fact you were so scared to camp by yourself really makes no sense to me. Sheltered life I guess.
