      @@Qalam2023 oh my gosh it's so easy. first I didn't use two colors. I grabbed one of my daughters jackets and zipped it up. then I measured to the armpits and I believe it was 8 inches from bottom to armpit . so I just worked the round until I hit 6 inches from the brim. so in total from the bottom to the armpit and then I split it up just like the video and measured the back I believe it was 13 inches in total. I just made sure the amount of stitches could be divided by whatever she needed. I believe she said it needs to be divisible by 8. @ashleylillis Maybe you can explain this better.

    In the "joining in the round part" the camera cut off the part after passing one stitch over the other, so I couldn't see exactly where that stitch landed. Isn't this just like binding off, and you lose a stitch when you do it? I did what I thought I saw, and ended up down by one stitch at the end of the first row. I decided to kfb on the last stitch to make it up and keep going, but I know this isn't ideal. I must have missed something that the camera cut off in the "joining in the round" section.

      Hi there! When you’re knitting the back, you’re knitting back and forth flat, and not in the round. When you’re on the right side of the work, you’ll knit a row and when you’re on the wrong side of the work, you’ll purl a row. This is stockinette stitch. When you complete stockinette stitch in the round, you simply knit every round.

    Hi Ashley, after the ribbing, you asked to do a few more rounds of knitting with the first color. I am a new knitter and I am confused about why the knit round is not followed by the purl round? Wouldn't it lead to the garter stich?

    • @AshleyLillisKnits
      @AshleyLillisKnits  2 роки тому +3

      When you knit in the round, you complete stockinette stitch by knitting every round. To get garter stitch in the round, you knit one round then purl one round. It’s opposite of knitting flat! Hope that helps!

    Can I use 100% acrylic medium 4 yarn for this sweater or not, I am new to knitting and I can't buy wool right now thank you for your help

      Hi there! You can use whatever yarn you’d like, you’ll just have to adjust your cast on stitches because your gauge will be much smaller. If you knit the sweater with smaller needles and thinner yarn following the instructions, your sweater will be too small so you’ll just have to adjust it. Best of luck to you and happy knitting!

      Hi there! There’s no written pattern…. I just give guidance in the video description on how many cast on stitches to use and then tell you exactly how to make the sweater in the video….

      Thanks for the response. Love the video and am eager to start. I was thinking the pattern may help with questions i have in regards to adding length (not a cropped sweater gal) and making sure the arms still stay in line.

    I’m very lost on the knitting of the back of the sweater and how you knit flat on the circular needles. My work is joined when I simply start purling per your instructions. Let me know if you can help!

      Hi there! I do not have a written pattern for it - I guide you on cast on stitches in the video description and then the video explains everything else. The chapters marked in the video description help you jump around to the specific parts easily. It’s like a visual pattern!

    I am a real beginner so I've gotta ask. I didn't understand what you meant by the right side, the wrong side of the needle. What do you mean by that? And how do I understand if I am on the correct side?
