The Campfire Headphase is actually on the level of MHTRTC for me tbh, it’s just so insanely beautiful, warm, and of course nostalgic from beginning to end. Peacock Tail is probably a top 3 song of their’s imo.
All of their albums do definitely hold a level of nostalgia while creating something interesting and new. I hope and can't wait to hear their next album. I can't say they will but I can't wait to see the direction they go towards. Like the global thing now, unless they did something is COVID. What is their musical take on the version of everything we can and have dealt with with that global stuffs. Might be interesting, especially after getting a post-apoc type release of tomorrow's harvest.
When i first heard this I didn’t really get it. This made me revisit it and everything on that clicked for me. The strange and spacey trip hop beats syncing with the creepy synth interludes are masterful. The haunting atmosphere is really unprecedented and really brings me in closer to fully experience it. Really glad i relistened to this.
We are too! It’s certainly not an album for everyone but giving it a second or third chance could prove vital, cause it’s just such an odd beast of a record
I discovered this album before Music Has The Right To Children, and I really like it. I have no idea what it's "about'" but the enigma is part of why I like it, similar to why I love 2001: A Space Odyssey so much.
Cool talk. I’ve been getting pretty heavy into this album as fall approaches. Also it’s just fake nostalgia. The way they invoke this is always haunting
It definitely has an autumnal vibe to it, if you haven’t heard ‘Tomorrow’s Harvest’ I would really recommend it, more downtempo but absolutely has the same vibe this album does
I believe this album is hard to understand because it is built around the idea of not being able to understand something. From Mathematics to Religion, Human Psyche, Crime, Psychology and nature. The point of the album is exactly to cause people the need to understand yet also the inability to do so.
Very elegantly put! I think we would agree with that sentiment because a lot of BoC’s music is designed to be probed, filled with lots of detail and excessive amounts of ‘Easter eggs’- it’s built to be rewarding!

CH is nowhere near on the level of MHTRTC

Absolutely love Boards Of Canada! ❤

A great comparison! Similarly mysterious and otherworldly
Would love to hear you guys discuss tomorrow's harvest next
Thank you! I wouldn’t rule out a discussion of their discography down the line…
