I searched record stores in the US for years to find an imported cassette copy of Carnage Visors in my teens, and when I finally found one (still have it), it got played until the tape had warped - and it got even better, then. I still hear it with the woozy wow and flutter only possible with that medium, and digitized it for that reason. I also spent all my teenage money in the 80s on import 12"s, VHS tapes (The Cure in Orange was played weekly for years) and rare cassettes (when Join the Dots came out, very little was new to me, but I was glad I could now preserve my vinyl and tape copies). Add their incredible discography to the fact that Robert is a joy to just listen to in interviews - his recent, long one is a great testament to that - and his strong support for ethical and humanist causes his entire career, and you've got one of my most loved humans, ever. So many bottles of ultra-hold hairspray, oversized jumpers, and white high-top sneakers in my history only served to support my love for him - and, possibly, my premature balding. My own ranking is very similar to yours (except Seventeen Seconds - you're mistaken but we still love you), and your excellent breakdown is yet another reason J&T is one of the best music channels around. Welcome back, we missed you all. Favorite album - Faith Favorite song - End (try and track down the grainy video of their Live8 performance) Favorite b-side - Mr. Pink Eyes or Snow in Summer
Love your story of having to track everything down, it’s incredible the lengths people went to when music wasn’t as readily available is it is now, a testament to how great a band they are! Thank you for sharing ❤️

Wrong!! As a 59 year old man, not in my 20s as yourself Seventeen Seconds is my number one. If you had been fortunate enough t00 be alive at the time it was transcendent, a bold move away from what was on offer and unique to this day, still holds up in my book. you can say OK boomer and thanks for the channel.

Even though our lists are different in some ways, I really enjoyed the ranking. Ps: I pretty much appreciate every album. Songs Of A Lost World would’ve gone in between the self titled and 4:13 Dream if I ranked it. 13) Wild Mood Swings 12) The Cure 11) 4:13 Dream (I actually like this one ) 10) The Top 9) Bloodflowers (not top material, but I do understand your love for it.) 8) Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me 7) The Head On The Door 6) Three Imaginary Boys 5) Wish 4) Seventeen Seconds 3) Pornography 2) Faith 1) Disintegration
@@joefrog91 I’ve found a bit of conflicting info on this, it was a double vinyl but was released as a single cassette and CD, as far as I can tell it seems those bonus tracks were vinyl exclusive. Not really sure how I’d refer to it on the whole but it’s got the spirit of a double LP anyway
@JamsandTea The vinyl album was 2xLPs and the cassette/CD were singles . The cassette and album had one extra song (Hey You!) not on the CD. There was also the limited edition album release that included the orange vinyl with b-sides (A Japanese Dream, Breathe, A Chain of Flowers, Snow in Summer, Sugar Girl, Icing Sugar) I had this vinyl edition, the cassette and the CD. I guess you're not wanting to call it a double album because it wasn't double in all formats?
Not a bad list, but I actuallyl really like The Top, and do have a soft spot for Wild Mood Swings - it's a few edits away from being quite a decent album.
Obviously, such rankings are very subjective. Many will be surprised to see Seventeen Seconds so low. My list changes all the time at present it would look something like this: 13) 4.13 Dream, 12) Three Imaginary Boys; 11) Wild Mood Swings; 10) The Cure (self-titled); 9) Kiss Me x3; 8) Seventeen Seconds; 7) The Top; 6) The Head on the Door; 5) Wish 4) Faith 3) Bloodflowers 2) Disintegration 1) Pornography
Here’s my ranking: 1. The Head on the Door (1985) 2. Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me (1987) 3. Disintegration (1989) 4. Wish (1992) 5. Three Imaginary Boys (1979) 6. Japanese Whispers (1983) 7. The Top (1984) 8. Faith (1981) 9. Seventeen Seconds (1980) 10. Pornography (1982) 11. Wild Mood Swings (1996) 12. The Cure (2004) 13. 5:13 Dream (2008) 14. Bloodflowers (2000) 15. Songs of a Lost World (I’m sorry..) Yeah, I prefer the pop Cure :3
I've never liked it either. It's not as tough a listen for me as Bloodflowers or Faith, but it comes close. I could listen to Pornography over and over before those three.
I always defended Bloodflowers with my whole existence. Still do
Another brave soul for the cause 🫡🫡🫡
Same here, it's the only one of their albums that agrees with me from start to finish.

Great to see some appreciation for Self-titled. It certainly resonated with me! That album (and it's b-sides) will be rediscovered some day.
@@richard_c1327 We can only hope everyone will eventually see the vision!
Damn, The Top worse than Self-titled? Wild. Wiiiiiiild.
Appreciate the thoughtfulness of the list and the breakdowns though.
Thank you!! And honestly I knew S/T would ruffle feathers, but I gotta be honest!
@@JamsandTea It's just so repetitive and sounds like cardboard. Anyway, there's no accounting for taste!
Really love this channel. Pornography is my favorite. Awesome video, Jake!

LFG
Their singles and b-sides are often great but tend to pad out their LPs with crass filler, IMO.
