My opinion, as a Priest coming from the Eastern Orthodox tradition, is that the central problem is our attempt to evaluate anything concerning others. We are to examine ourselves in light of the truth of Jesus Christ as revealed to us. It is a mirror that allows us to see ourselves. It is not helpful as Christians for us to evaluate anyone other than ourselves. Leave the rest to God.

So if you accept LDS as Christians, who deny the divinity of Christ (Jesus is a god not God Almighty, and a spirit child of the Father), then do we open our arms to Muslims as our brothers in the faith also (since they view Jesus as the Messiah)? It IS important to know who are your brethren, who are a part of the body of believers, and those who are wolves in sheeps clothing. What would you say?

@@dr.j5642 No. LDS shares more with Orthodoxy than Protestants share with orthodoxy. Makes Protestants the outsiders. LDS share the theology of divination or people can become holy. Share the bible should be worshipped rather the teachings of Jesus and to others contain truth. That the Son came from the Father. That the eucharist must be done as per Jesus. Baptism is required. Keeping the commandments. That priesthood was ordained by Jesus to the apostles and down the line. You cannot preach except you have been anointed. The church Jesus founded had a hierarchy. @Accept Jesus as your savior I respect your ability to have your own perspective, and thoughts on the show, and this discussion thread. And you can still feel that I am wrong. But I stand by my comments. I still feel that this show is bringing people together: cast, crew, fans- non believers, and believers in such a way that they feel passionate enough to add their voice to the dialogue. And this is my point. And this is where I feel the differing factions of Christianity get it wrong. They are too busy admonishing each other, with their "we're the only ones who matter" attitudes. If you follow his example, then you would also embrace his wanting humanity to understand this. We are all human, nobody is better than anyone else. We all need to come together, and stop dividing ourselves.

@@KennyD-bi3ec Here is the problem , Everyone is getting the wrong Idea of The Bible ,and of God and of Jesus. lds in no way have the same God or Jesus that is in The Bible or the chosen. The chosen teaches that God has always been God The Father and that Jesus is The only begotten Son of God. But none of these lds that are posting are posting are being honest or they just simply don't know what their church doctrines are. Because lets be honest the lds church believes and teaches in its doctrines the their god was first a man a human being and that he had many wives here on earth and he had sex with one of them who then gave birth to a son and called him jesus, and then their god had sex again and gave birth to another son and his name is lucifer. So lets be very clear about this The True Bible does not teach what lds teach and that show that you lds keep praising as well as praising the chosen creator Dallas Jenkins teaches what he teaches is the exact opposite of what you believe so why don't some of you lds stop being afraid to say what your church doctrine teaches don't be afraid to tell these ignorant Christians what you are keeping from them. At least other cults are not ashamed of their god and are at least honest in what they believe.

I cry every episode multiple times. Thank you so much for making this series, for bringing the gospels to life in such an engaging and meaningful way. Every character is so well written and likeable! Actually, it's entirely his fault. Proverbs 30:6 is quite clear: "Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar." I've just found out about this show, yet even a little research has revealed that he's added numerous incidents of his own invention to the Gospel accounts. He's put words into Jesus' mouth that we have absolutely no record of Jesus ever saying. And why? To rake in millions of dollars in funding and further his own filmmaking interests? Call me crazy, but I've found the records we have to be sufficient. Not only do I feel it's unnecessary to bloat them with scenarios of my own imagining, but I'd be afraid to do so.

    • @NZ5027
      @NZ5027 2 роки тому +28

Yes, there have been scenes created around Scripture, however the scenes as created are well within the realms of probably.
As you may be aware, the scripts are reviewed by a panel consisting of a Catholic theologian, an evangelical theologian, and a Messianic Jewish Rabbi. They agree that the scenarios are within the context of the time, and well may have happened in much the same way.
In all cases, the creators are upfront with the fact that they are not replacing Scripture, and would expect that the viewers would take the time to delve deeper into the Word.
In as much as the Passion of the Christ movie used the 'visions' of a Catholic nun to fill in some of the blanks, so is Dallas trying to make the Jesus of Scripture more accessible to those seeking a personal relationship with the Savior.

I'm Catholic, but I basically have left the Catholic church because it has been infiltrated by evil, and I know there are good Catholic priests out there (I see some on UA-cam), but I don't have any around me. I honestly don't know what church to go to, of any denomination. So I sit at home and practise my faith privately. But there's a lot about being Catholic that I love, such as learning about Mary, learning about the angels etc.

Thank you, Dallas for consistently role modeling how a true Christian behaves! You are doing God's work in more ways than one. "Tribalism" is indeed the biggest problem in the Christian world. Not the different doctrines, beliefs or interpretations of scripture, but the need to exclude others from the fold because we think our doctrines, beliefs or interpretations are superior and exclusive. If Christians feel a need to "stand against" something, how about standing against the growing tide of evil, apathy and suffering in the world?
Its impossible to believe in a different Jesus than someone else because there is only one and He exists independent of any attempts to define Him. Our job is to follow Him and try to be like Him, not gate-keep who can and cannot be a part of His fold.

The Bible is clear that God has existed for all eternity and there was never a time where there was other gods. None before him or after him. God says he doesn’t even know of any other gods. He’s the first and the last. The Mormons do not believe this. They believe he was a human that became God and one day we can become Gods too. They also believe Jesus is lucifers brother when the Bible is clear that Jesus created all things, including Lucifer. The Mormon church is full of lies and has a long history of abuse and scandals ever since it’s inception. Mr. Dallas, you mention something to the effect that some evangelicals don't follow the same Jesus you do and some Mormons do follow the same Jesus. I am hearing that these statements have to do with people. It sounds like you're saying some people claiming to be followers of Christ are not faithful and the fruit they bear reflect this. How do you reconcile your beliefs with the 1st and 2nd century beliefs of the martyrs of the Early Church? What you believe is different from what they believed, what the Apostles taught, and what their disciples taught. First generation disciples of the Holy Apostles, such as Polycarp, Clement, and Ignatius. Nevertheless, love of Jesus and of God, and acknowledging the Holy Trinity is not a bad thing, it is a very good thing, and in these things there certainly is common ground.

I find this message to actually be really sincere. I didn't even know it was an issue. Respect for clarifying. Thank you. Also, I always follow the guidance from Matthew 7:16 - "You will know them by their fruits." There is no logical explanation for The Chosen's inspiration than spiritually inspired. You clearly were led to create this show. As an LDS person myself, I never thought anything else, and I have always been taught that this applies to all people even outside the walls of the church. I also understand that our community can sometimes be a bit insular and has created bad blood with other denominations in the past by going around and telling people their faith is wrong or incomplete, and to follow us as the "only 100% true church." I think the church has kind of realized that maybe this 1800s enlightenment preaching style is not great for trying to become a unified body of people under our faith in Christ. I am really happy you posted this because it shows a fair representation of people's faith. I see myself as a Christian, and I 100% believe that you and your team behind this show were divinely inspired to create it, and I think it serves as a great lesson and reminder for LDS people of how God can work through people that are not LDS as well. I actually believe that God purposefully worked through you, as someone who is not part of the LDS community, because this lesson is very important for people in our church. I'm so sorry but as a former Mormon myself, I have to question the idea that a person can think that the Jesus of the LDS faith is the same Jesus of the Bible. Have you ever asked them if they believe that Jesus is the son of God from a preexistent life as the oldest of his spirit offspring? Brother of Lucifer? Do you believe in a Jesus who shed his blood for us in Gethsemene, Dallas? Because that is LDS teaching and I can show it to you. The LDS Articles of Faith says they believe the Bible to be the Word of God "as far as it is translated correctly" and i cannot think of one single Mormon who believes otherwise. I was LDS for 31 years (since my birth). I am now a believing Christian. There is a distinction via doctrine and it counts.
Does that mean you can't rent their property for your show? No, but please bear in mind that the money you pay goes to spreading a false gospel.

"The show is not the end game..." I've heard this from Jerry Jenkins regarding the Left Behind book series as well. So important for everyone to remember-it is a step into exposing people to the character of Christ as revealed in the Bible. There is a disclaimer in the very first episode of the very first season. The Chosen is NOT a replacement for the Gospel, it's up to each of us to study scripture and have truth revealed too us by the Holy Spirit. For me personally, it has driven me deeper into the gospels and put flesh to the flawed people Jesus chose to surround Himself with. Thank you Dallas for your thoughtful statement.

The show is not the end game? So . . . there's an "end game" in all of this? That's a horrifying statement. The Antichrist has an end game also. It may look a lot like this. The Mormon Church is not a Christian church. They may be good people but they are NOT followers of Jesus Christ. Do you understand that? No good will come of believers in business with unbelievers preaching the gospel "together". The Apostle Paul made that very clear. You'll see when you get to "that part" of the book.

Dallas, first of all I love your name. I named my eldest son Dallas. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching The Chosen and have felt the Holy Spirit several times enough to bring tears to my eyes. To watch the your depiction of the Savior Jesus Christ has made Him so much more real for me. I've always had belief and a testimony of the Savior but watching his life via The Chosen has grown my love and appreciation for Him. One thing you said in this video that creates question is the encouragement to make your local church group or pastor a point of scriptural clarification. I've thought about this many times, but the reason there are 46,000 different Christian churches is that every paster or church leader has their own perspective and historically what has happened is that when someone disagrees with a certain perspective of doctrine they break off and start their own church. It's just a shame, because as Christians we know that there is only one Christ, and one gospel and yet because of different interpretations of scripture there has been division, contention and separation created despite all agreeing to worship the Savior. Other than that one simple thought I agree, respect and appreciate everything that you said. It is not for us to judge, but only love as the Savior would do.

"Be Thou My Vision" is one of my all time favorite hymns, and when I sing every verse of it to myself throughout the day, my heart and spirit and vision are lifted to heaven and I glory in his goodness and power and almighty LOVE! He was born of immaculate conception to Mary, lived, ministered, was crucified for our sins, and was resurrected on the third day. I found Jesus and was born again when I was 14. I joined the LDS church when I was 17. I worship the same Jesus now that I did when I was 14. We need to be careful not to set ourselves up as the Pharisees, judging each other's walk and abrogating to ourselves the right to judge who is following Christ "right" and who is not. I think The Chosen does a pretty good job of portraying Jesus' opinion of the Pharisees who were so quick to judge every one else's "performance". That is God's job. Our job is to love, invite others to come to Christ, however they may work out the fine points of their worship. Jesus went out of His way from the get go to go into the byways and fringes of society to call and choose those the Pharisees condemned. We must love like He did, and be willing to stir up the water. God bless.

Friend. The Mormon church believes a false gospel and false Christ. The Mormon church believes God is a created being and has not existed for all eternity. Turn from this false church and believe the Christ of scripture, the one who has existed for all eternity with the father and the Holy Spirit. Repent and put your faith in the true Jesus. The Mormon gospel does not save. Watch apologia studios videos on Mormonism to learn more PLEASE.

Here is true LDS doctrine not your internet stupidity
We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
2 We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam’s transgression.
3 We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
4 We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
5 We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
6 We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
7 We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
8 We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
9 We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
10 We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.
11 We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
12 We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
13 We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul-We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

Mormons believe Jesus is God but not like the historical Trinity. Mormon theology is different from JW theology, the JW'S don't believe Jesus is God. Mormons believe he is God but became God through exultation (i believe). At one point if I'm not mistaken, Mormons think Jesus wasn't God, and then at a later point, he became God by a process of progression into divinity. I'm pretty sure Mormons teach that.
That being said, being God eternally is a required attribute for the God of the Bible. As he was never not God, according to the scriptures!
The other difference is Mormons divide the 3 persons into being separate from each other somehow. Whereas the historical Trinity is 1 God in 3 united persons, Mormons believe in 3 divided persons which are distinct from each other and each are God. Seems kind of like polytheism? But they don't believe in one God in 3 persons. This is what a mormon told me anyway! Any Mormons out there correct me if I'm incorrect.

@@prayunceasingly2029 - Mormons do not believe Jesus is God. Period! Moreover, because mormonism has been caught dead wrong on so many issues, they have to keep changing what they believe so that all of its followers don't leave. The sad truth is that many mormons don't know their doctrines, which is why many believe they are Christian when that aren't.

The content of the show is about how Jesus taught that his words were for everyone. The rich, the poor, the wise, the shepherds, the tax collectors, the Jews, the Sadducees and everyone else! So, I think we can all know Jesus and be part of his gospel. That is always a personal journey and He knows our hearts, our actions and whether or not we are a Christian. One of my favorite aspects of this show is the context I get that isn't available in the scriptures. Having an understanding of every day life, the nature of the relationship between the Romans, Jews, Jewish leaders, and the different classes can help lend assistance in understanding the scriptures. Kinda like understanding Isaiah! Context and understanding the references is helpful.

Without any hint of any attempt to convert to any particular domination. I love the series because it helps make the different stories of Scripture be more real when you can see faces and mannerisms and in turn it leads to a better understanding. @@bjstewart9547 Why do you say that? The Chosen is a beautiful show, and if it holds to the truth of scripture, that's even more reason to love it no matter what your faith. It's an inspired project that has encouraged me to study the New Testament with eagerness.
You may very easily find members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints who aren't as familiar with the Bible as other Christians, and that's a shame, but like Dallas said, you can't speak for the congregation as a whole about these things. It's composed of individuals who make their own choices about what to study and how much time to spend on it.
There is one thing that can be said for the whole though, and that's the doctrine. The 8th Article of Faith says "We believe the Bible to be the word of God, as far as it is translated correctly." So I really can't see any reason for us LDS to dislike any part of The Chosen unless it's a matter of interpretation, but as the show stated in the beginning, it's not a replacement for scripture, but an adaptation that's taking some fictional license. And so far, even the obviously fictional parts expressed some truth.
So, as the show progresses, it will be good for us viewers to search the New Testament to see how scripture actually says the events happened (the show itself explicitly encourages this), but that's true no matter what denomination you belong to.

How can you reconcile these verses from The Holy Bible with the heretical teachings of your false prophet Joseph Smith? Do you really think that you will become a “god” one day? Do you deny The Holy Trinity? You need to repent of your Mormonism and believe the true Gospel as stated in 1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:1-4‬ ‭(KJV‬‬):
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. • @germanslice
      @germanslice 2 роки тому +5

@@CloutDigital The Saints teach that Jesus is risen up in the flesh. So are you condemning John's testimony saying that he saw an angle preaching the everlasting gospel in the last days out to all the earth's inhabitants before the end comes? .This is the everlasting gospel, not another gospel. So you interpreted Galatians wrong.
Paul wasn't condemning John's testimony otherwise John would be in contradiction with Paul then God would be a respecter of persons and divided up against himself and be a God that lies if Paul was preaching against John. Since John got the vision of Revelations of the end of the world from an angle of heaven that came down to him sent down by God to visit John on the Isle of Patmos. so we know that the angle that had visited John is not the same angle that Paul was going on about to the Galatian Saints. So you're incorrect in saying God condemns all angels that come down from heaven. One just came down to John to update John after Paul's death to tell John who God will hand the everlasting gospel over to in the latter-days. Again in Daniel Chapter 12, Daniel is told that God's word will only be sealed up only until the end times.. So there was a set period of time where there would be no more revelation from God and a famine of God's word will start which is mentioned in Amos. And then after that set time passes then the sealed Book known as the Book of Mormon will be brought forth up out of the ground that Isaiah had seen in Chapter 29. So in the last days God's word is going to be unsealed by God
Himself and he will add more to his word. That is why the angle had commanded John not to seal up the words of this prophecy because of What Daniel was told that the sealing (revelations and prophets ceasing) was only for a certain period of time then it would be restored back again in the last days.. Then would Acts Chapter 3 a time of restitution of all things be fulfilled when the gospel is restored back to the earth.
An angle comes down from heaven and preaches the everlasting gospel, just as he did so to John on the isle of Patmos to update him on what God is going to do in the last days. In The last days the angle comes down sent by God and preaches the everlasting gospel out to the whole planet. So the everlasting gospel is not going to spread out on the earth by just distributing only the Bible, for that's not how the everlasting gospel will be preached
in the last days. For in the last days the law of God will be preached out from Zion and from Jersualem for the Lord will roar his voice from out of Zion and from Jersualem.
So you guys are over 1900 years out of date, since you believe all revelation from God had all ceased over 1900 years ago after Christ and his apostles. For its not the truth, for the everlasting Gospel has been restored back to the earth. The sealing of God's word has been broken, it was broken as soon as the Father and Son had revealed themselves to the world in 1820. God did not intend his word to be sealed up forever because even though Jesus finished the work of the atonement on the cross, God the Father had other work to do in the last days.. There will be a restoration in the last days because there was an apostasy.
