    Cool video! Ive been keeping a vx6 in one of the stretchy 308 mag pockets from blueforce gear, it has all the same problems you listed with your pouches, but if the buttons are locked it is a very quick choice. Thanks for your work covering this subject.

    I really like your idea of combining the kydex holder with a nylon holder.
    I think that could be done with what you have there. Split apart the kydex radio holder and then rivet the front half into the soft pouch that you like best. Do the dremel mods you mentioned and then off to the races.
    Obviously it'll take some tweaking and playing, but at its face the idea doesn't seem exceptionally difficult to execute.
    Totally spitballing here, but I may try it myself as well since every concern you mentioned echoes mine.
    Cheers!

      Great idea! Didn't even think of this. It will reduce the overall thickness as well & in the end, serve the same purpose. I'm going to take some time to try it a bunch of different ways & see what works best in the end.

    I like the kydex, for durability, and protecting the radio. But being so tight inside, may rub the paint off the rubber key pad. Unless its made to stand off the face of the radio, by just a smidge!? Or had a piece of felt inside? Either way, this seems the better style / option, for my daily wear and tear.

      I don't think the keys are touched at all so that shouldn't be an issue.

      @@CallMeColtLLC Good to know. I have gotten some kydex, and a convection oven (just for heating kydex) and have been looking for a few holster ideas for guns and radios, or anything else. So I may try and make a few. But The price isn't terribly bad, on those MX Holsters! And they have my UV-9R+, model Baofeng pattern!

    Thanks for another great video! Few questions- have you found a control module for these multi pin radios that allow you to basically connect an adapter between the radio and the headset that lets you switch channels up and down without taking the radio out of the pouch?
    I just looped a piece of shock chord with a retainer and a pull tab so I can pull the radio out a little easier. I had a abbree antenna break from pulling it out by the antenna too long..
    Finally, does anyone make extended batteries for these radios? Do you suggest just buying a spare just to have an extra one? I've not burned through a full charge yet but I figure having an extra one or extended one can never hurt.
    Thanks in advance! You got me hooked on these radios and I've been trying to spread the good word and away from the two pin kenwood connectors.

      Nothing in a remote or anything like it... I wish! My best guess is that even though there are quite a few pins on the side, only a few are really going to anything. The few simple ones for audio & the PTT. I'd love to see a move advanced model to utilized something like this. There are some real nice Baofeng GMRS models that use GPS and Bluetooth to connect with your phone to send SMS over GMRS channels. If it had Multipin instead of 2 pin Kenwood it would be great!
      Yes, highly recommend spares. No extended batteries. Not sure why, but like you, the regular one lasts quite a while. They are cheap enough. The slight issue is some models don't work with others & I showed that in the video I made going over a bunch of the Multipin models. If you have A58's, I plan to list some for sale on my eBay store with a bunch of extra batteries for a good deal. If you have GT2WP, check these out;
      amzn.to/3Y83nXk
      Hopefully more move over to the Multipin. It is superior in almost every way & isn't anymore complicated.
      I've been slacking in my COMM videos but will have a few coming out in the next month. Nothing super exciting but hopefully spreading more information on Multipin type radios.
      Thanks for watching.

    Thanks for sharing these. I'm having the same issue with those radios. Do you have an extended battery pack so we can see how they fit compared to the normal battery?

    • @CallMeColtLLC
      @CallMeColtLLC  Рік тому

      I don't because I only use the multipin type Baofeng radios, and at this time they don't make extended batteries for them. I just keep a second battery on my gear if needed, but generally a single battery will last me more than a full day unless I am talking a lot.

    Are there extended batteries for the multipin Baofeng radios?

    • @CallMeColtLLC
      @CallMeColtLLC  Рік тому

      No, not yet! I think it because they don't sell as much as the UV5R types. Part of the reason why I'd love to see the movement away from them. There is a lot to be gained by the multipin type, and nothing to lose. The more that sell, the more support it will be given.
