Im really glad you mentioned that Paul. I am a ppg pilot in Michigan. When I got into PPG i didn't know anyone in my area who flew. Now, a year and a half later i have a chat group of 15. We all fly ppg and get together at local fields. Some of the guys travel on ppg trips together. As a 42 yr old male, it can be difficult to make new friends but in the ppg world if you fly and your not a total idiot your part of the club. We meet new pilots frequently and welcome them into our unofficial flying club. If you are interested in flying, i cannot recommend it enough! Its such a great experience. Now back to watching this great flight! Thanks for bringing this up Paulie! Safe flying in your new Nine! Im so jealous! It looks like an amazing aircraft!
Hi and happy new year. Looks like flying is as much of a social thing all over the world. I’m also the sort of person that sometimes struggles to be social, but it’s so much easier with people with a common interest. The Nine should be arriving any day. Can’t wait. It’s an amazing thing to fly. I’ll keep you posted. 👍
Please do, I watched your 1st flight and it convinced me to look into the aircraft further. I'm not sure why we don't have these amazing aircraft here in the US? I think they would qualify under the FAA part 103. I love all things aviation, this just might be my next magic carpet! The Nine can fly over 90MPH what about your current machine? Do you know the empty weight? I'm just trying to figure the whole thing out... Please keep us posted on the new Nine and happy New Year!
@@FJ-gk3jb Flylight does have dealers in the US and the new Flylight Nine does come under part 103. Email info@flylight.co.uk and they will tell you more. 👍
What a lovely evening. We used to het spectacular sun rise and sunsets when I worked on the flight line at RAF Church Fenton. I would describe myself as a microlight Larve. I have flying experience in the past but I'm planning on entering the hobby next year.
This was the first time I had flown at sunset and it was a magical time to be in the air. The light was amazing and great for filming. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
Just found your channel and liking it greatly! I've been watching Giles's videos while my C42 is at Darley Moor having her "extensive" 21st birthday spa treatment, as she appears in the background in some of them, in an advanced state of undress sadly. I did my first 1000 hrs on flexwings before crossing to the dark side (under duress, as SWMBO was whinging about sitting in the back in a 60mph draft with legs akimbo) but even after another 1000hrs in the warm and comfort of the C42, I still yearn for a flexwing. I've almost convinced myself that a Nine is one of those things that I didn't realise I really, really needed until I saw it. I'm considering retiring again this year, so I can feel a treat coming on! You can take the pilot out of a flexwing, but you can't take the flexwing out of the pilot. Great stuff, keep it up.
Hi Graham, thank you for watching and subscribing. I've have resisted the dark side so far although it is getting harder the older I get and the less I like the cold! I feel the same way about the FlyLight nine as you will see in my next video . . .
Another really enjoyable and awesome video Paul. Loved the formation flying 🤙 The land away along with the stunning weekend have made wonderful memories that will stay with me for a very long time. Loved every minute ❤🤗
Thanks for your comment. I know I keep promising to do a video showing how I record the audio and it is coming. However with the late arrival of summer, I've been doing as much flying as I can.
Hi Paul. Thanks to you (and Giles) for these videos. I’ve been watching for a while and have been taking lessons this summer. I’ve now placed my order for a Flylight, so it’s time to come out of the shadows and say hi!! I’ll be bringing the trike over to Massachusetts once it’s been built. I am beyond excited! The social side of this hobby is almost as good as the flying itself! Like you (and many trike pilots) I also ride motorcycles! Thanks again.
Hi Ian. Thanks for watching and stepping out of the shadows. Best of luck with the rest of your lessons. You will not be disappointed with your new aircraft when it arrives. I remember when I was waiting for mine. I was like a kid on Christmas Eve!! Safe flying.
Cheers Paul, I think I'll just hand over the flexing vlogging mantle to you. Nicely covered and what a wonderful evening it was too. Sorry for being too mother hen ;)
Remember, if you are flying home and it seems to be getting darker as the sun is setting, just climb 1,000ft and it suddenly gets much brighter!!! Give my best regards to Ben and Paul D, when you next see them.
Blimey your videos are getting better and better. The footage is great and all spliced together beautifully, the edit is polished and the subject content is an excellent mix of your own thoughts and those of others. A very enjoyable watch and well worth the effort of what must have been a tough edit with the overlays etc. Hope to see you soon at DM! 👍😁
Wow. Cheers Dan. I must confess that the editing was 2 days of my life I’ll never get back. But hopefully worth the effort. See you soon back at DM. Mark mentioned something about seeing how many Flylight trikes we can get in the air at once. Now that will be worth videoing!
@@paulieb796 Love the term 'bumble'. Looking forward to plenty of those with people such as yourself (but I'll fight you for the biggest bit of cake). 😉

Hi Paul, Really enjoy your video's I'm determined to join you guy's one day. Now when I heard you say you were out for a "bumble" I thought it was because your A*rse was so close to the ground when you land :-)
Hi there. Hope you do come and join the swarm. The more the merrier. Glad I managed to dispel the confusion about the term “bumble” although your interpretation did make me smile. 😀
Ooo that final landing was smooooth!! We very much like that. What a stunning flight, I cannot wait to get back into flying. Out of curiosity, what was the buzzing that you head from time to time? I heard it a lot on your return flight.. My guess it a proximity alert? I watched your equipment video the other day, so I know you have that transponder installed.. My only other guess it a stall warning (buzzed during your takeoff and landing role)
Hi Nicholas. Thank you for subscribing. That landing was one of my better ones. They are not all like that believe me!! Your first guess as to what the buzzing noise is was spot on. I have a Sky Echo which is linked to Skydemon which in turn is linked to me helmet. This gives me an alert if I am in close proximity to another aircraft. When flying in formation with friends it goes off all the time. You can disable it, but I always forget to!!
Hi Paul, great video, this kind of activity continues to drive me to obtain my NPPL asap. Not sure how f you know or not but I am a Hot Air Balloon Pilot and we go for a Bimble flight when the winds are light are not likely to go too far, so very similar.
Hi Martin. I love seeing hot air balloons in the sky in the evening. We often see them taking off near Ashbourne, and it’s always a sure sign of great flying conditions. How do you guys react to small aircraft (paramotors/flexwings) flying up to you to give you a wave? I often consider flying over to say hello but worry that you guys might be annoyed with us disturbing your peace and quiet. What is the general consensus amongst Balloon pilots? Thanks for watching and best of luck with your NPPL journey if you choose to go that way. 👍
@@paulieb796 My personal opinion is Bring it on, always good to give them a call on the balloon frequency 122.480 to see if they are listening but otherwise be sensible and go for it.
Thank you, Paul, for these inspiring videos. As a lurker on your channel from the western side of "the pond", and I may be alone in this, but I'm curious how the members of the flexwing community in Britain handle storage and transportation of their flexwing microlights. Is hangar space available and reasonably priced to the point where most flexwings are set up only once and just kept in a hangar between flights? Or, is it more common to resort to disassembly of the flexwing and transport by trailer and car top for storage at home between flights? (I assume a bit of both). Suitable hangar space, even with the wing folded on the trike, can be hard to find in parts of the US, so would be very interested in different methods British flexwing pilots have developed to transport their PeaBee and BivvyBee-sized flexwing trikes to and from the airport. Perhaps an idea for a future video.
Hi lurker. First, sorry for the delay in replying. I am getting more and more comments as my channel is growing and it’s getting harder to keep up. Your question is a good one and hopefully my rigging video which I posted a couple of weeks ago might answer part of your question. I am thinking of doing a Q&A video and might use your comment in the video. Keep watching. 👍
Hi Dave. That cable is the one that goes from my helmet to the go-pro camera mounted on the control bar. It’s how I record my in flight audio. It’s firmly attached at both ends so no danger of it getting anywhere near the prop. 👍
Tom, I've had my BivvyBee for over 4 years now and I can honestly say it has never let me down and it is in the same condition as the day it left the factory. Same with the Cors-Air engine. I have had one engine out which was due to a perished primer bulb which was sucking in air, but that was probably more my fault for not conducting a thorough pre-flight check. I don't think the aftersales service is as good from Corsair compared to say Vitorazi but the engine is a powerful unit which always starts and is very reliable. Aeros wings and Flylight trikes are exceptionally well engineered and tested to great lengths and If you look after them, there is no reason they wont last for many many years. If you buy an aircraft from Flylight, their aftersales customer service is outstanding and they really do look after their customers. By the way, I don't work for Flylight and have no affiliate links to them, I'm just a very well satisfied customer.
