  • This month I used @Jazza's #CustomizeItKit to create a few custom pieces. I did get frustrated and made some dud pieces, but I also had some success.
    Enjoy :D

Hi all 😀. I would like to clear a few things up as this video has had a few comments saying my review is unfair and I'm glad this has been highlighted as it was not my intention. FIRST, this was never intended to be a review, it was me unboxing and creating; that's what I do here on my channel. I chose this kit because it's customizing and I love to customize stuff. This kit is fun and inspires creativity, that's what drew me to it. SECOND, no, I didn't like everything in the kit, and I think that is fair as it's a little unrealistic to love everything. Plus, that's just my opinion. Everyone will have a different opinion about what is in the kit and that's fine. "Loving" everything that I pulled out would be super false. Using only what is in the kit is part of the challenge for me as it pushes me outside of my comfort zone and that's how I grow as a creator. THIRD, I didn't dis the kit, I only dissed my art and I do that a lot. I don't hide when things don't work properly for me as my viewers are awesome at letting me know what I can do next time to make it work which I love. FOURTH, when I have problems during my art process or failed pieces I don't hide it as I know my regular audience appreciates seeing that the creative process can be a struggle and doesn't always work out. I don't like to set unrealistic impressions on what art looks like. As art and crafters we all have failures and pieces we don't like, and that needs to be ok so we can learn and overcome. Finally, I'M NOT TOO OLD FOR THIS KIT! 🤣🤣 I'm not too old for anything,,, except maybe the splits,,, or sitting on the ground; both really hurt! I am a long time viewer and subscriber of Jazza's channel and I think he's a brilliant UA-cam creator and artist and I will continue to be entertained by his engaging content and exceptional creativity. I have purchased several Muse kits and I will continue to as I think they are a quality business. As for the paint markers, they were fine (again, only my opinion). Not my favourite, but I will be adding them to my collection and they will get used. Especially the neons! If I hate something, it goes in the bin. Nothing from this kit went in the bin. The items I wasn't digging, will get given to family/friends. I hope this clears a few things up. 😁😁

I get what you're saying. I still saw it as a review, but I liked that it was honest. Other than review vs. unboxing: I understood from the video every other point you made above.

Don't worry too much and thanks for being honest. If you use a kit made by a famous youtuber there will be hurt feelings for some viewers if you don't like everything. I think it's important to give honest opinions in Videos like this.

I really didn't feel this was unfair at any point? You used a product and shared your initial thoughts and opinions. You didn't bash jazza or his product. The way you approach new products/boxes/materials makes me trust and value your opinion more because you don't praise the product because a big UA-camr is behind it. You focus on your experience with it in a kind but honest way. What more do people want ?!😅

I think the issue is you have "it's aweful" in your thumb nail, that is giving the impression of it being a review and your opinion on it 💜
P.s. your flask and note book designs have inspired me to crack mine out and get customising 😊

As someone who follows @Jazza extensively, I was interested in this #CustomizeItKit. I was glad to see your results! My favorite item, like yours, was the sketchbook. The other customizables didn't appeal to me, so getting this particular kit didn't seem worth the money.
The other demos I've seen were by people who I believe also gave *honest* reviews, but they're people Jazza has worked with before. I wasn't sure if they were able to be totally unbiased. Your review was especially good because we saw how it inspired you.

@@aussiecrafter, I'm glad what I meant was how you interpreted it: I'm not knocking the Jazza Studios line. I'm always a bit worried when I'm relaying in writing as opposed to speaking.
I like some of Jazza's other kits, which were released and sold out before I started watching his channels. I've been excited for the Carry-All Studio bags even before Sarah reviewed them.

I ordered this kit because I love Jazza and I love Muse Kits. I wanted to love it so much, but just didn't. I wasn't really impressed with the items that came in the kit. It just kind of left me wanting more, for the price and for being a Jazza X Muse Kit, if that makes sense. Especially after seeing kits like the Not Another Crap Kit and Real Terrain Hobbies Kits (I have all of them!) This one just seemed lackluster.
I think you did amazing with what you were given.

Nice job on these! I personally liked the bottle, but we are our worst criticts. From experience, paint pens don't work on all things, especially some of the things in that craft kit, but trying is how we figure these things out, as you know. Well done!

I gave up on buying anything from Jazza a couple of years back when he kept hyping his new product & the awesome cost of it, only when I went to preorder it was twice as much; he was advertising it in USD & no disclaimers - anywhere, not even his website; I wrote a letter of complaint, listed the AU rules of advertising etc & his wife wrote back such a snarky reply that I just refused to buy anything else again, & I unsubscribed. I'm a Victorian too & I wanted to support someone local, but not at the expense of my belief that you have to do the right thing when you're advertising a high-end (even entry way) product.
I own some of his products already, so I was extremely disappointed when all of this happened. I don't know if they're now advising people what currency he's advertising in, when he tells the audience how much, but I hope for transparency he his - he's selling to kids, whose parents can't always afford $200+ for a box.

    • @SarahCraigGater
      @SarahCraigGater Місяць тому +2

Totally agree he became a sell out. Yes with his own boxes but still. There is also another UA-cam and SHES became the same. Money really does go to their heads and it made me loath some creators. I get maybe a good quality box ONCE or TWICE a year but its like every other month of not well enough thought threw items and supplies.
I got nasty replies back also but from the female UA-camrs team.
      I was gutted.
So yeah I always look for lagit testers and there HONESTY like here.
Thus channel gained a sub today.

I’ve ordered pretty much everything that Jazza came up with since I started following his channel, but I really wasn’t excited about this one because the items in there were not that exciting to me. It’s definitely more geared towards kids - like the pencil case, sunglasses, and skateboards. It didn’t feel that worth it to me… Of course I also already have a ton of poscas so I didn’t need the kit either.
I do love how your water bottle turned out though, it’s adorable! And the sketchbook too… It looks great and very ‘you’! The neon colors fit right in. Aw sorry the shrink wrap didn’t turn out well. I tried shrink film before with shrink film I got from daiso and used permanent markers on it and it turned out great! The colors were translucent and added to the stain glass vibe. I used an oven as well and it did wrap a bit while baking but once it came out and was flat it straightened out. I think I tried it again and used a heat gun for the shrinking the second time around.

I also have no "proper" paint brush knowledge so I would very much love to see you explore all the shapes and styles out there. Sorry it means you'll have to go shopping!
I didn't think any of the things you made were bad. It seems like most of your problems were 'technical' ones rather than not liking the art itself. I know that it can be really hard to be satisfied with something when it doesn't quite match what you saw in your mind. That is where we viewers have the advantage because we had no particular expectation. I particularly liked the drawing you did on the sketch book. It reminded me of the cute sculpted collection of art supplies you made for your back drop.
For the things that needed to be varnished, if brushed on doesn't always play nice with paint pens, maybe a spray sealant or varnish would work better? I know that wasn't supplied with the kit but might be an idea if you do decide to use any of the other stuff.

Using the kit is a base idea but usually always need a little extra like you don't always have everything you need in a kit despite what nerdecrafter says (hers did include everything except water and paper towels the average everyday stuff around the home)

A always enjoy you & your videos very much. I love your work , but … first name suggestions I thought of were “Virus monster”, “The Rona” & “Cootie boy. If you remake them, maybe switch up little filler doodles on side? Damn girl, PLEASE forgive me 🙏🏻❤️ lol. Blame it on being bombarded with germ symbols on so many ads 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ Again, LOVE you and LOVE your work!!!

The items seem to target young teenagers, yet the box costs 115USD plus shipping. That doesn't match too well imo. Way too pricey for a teen.

I decided to skip this kit, despite really loving what Jazza puts out there. I already have all the paint pens, and none of the items really spoke to me. BUT I sent one to my teenage nephews and they loved it. So maybe 'young boy' is the right demographic for the items in there.

Ok I get this is a more “overall custom kit” but….id really like it if we had at least some small paints to custom with not some pens, as pens are pretty restricting, you can’t mix pens ofc.
This one’s a huge sin in my book, No primer and the sealer is shit? Like if your kit is smudgable pens why the fuck didn’t you get a sealer than DOESNT react to the paint material? The mini boards, cases, and sunglasses are gonna wear so fast because of it.
There really should have been some pointer brushes, as these can be used to apply lineart much easier than the pens.
The pens really should be non streaky on the first swatch, your suppose to have one smooth line as precision is the whole point of the pens not paints.
The items you custom feel…..cheap….the sketchbook is genius, the skateboard and sunglasses feel and look cheap, most all of the items feel like box fillers, I’d prefer jazza just chose more materials to custom (like those brushes I mentioned) than adding all these cheap bonus items.
….would it have been too hard to add a small fabric pencil case or hell PLASTIC TO GO WITH THE CUSTOM THEME, for all your paint pens? Who wants to lug the whole custom box as the whole point of a customing kit is you can custom on the go, not just your room.
Your rlly not suppose to use paint pens/acrylic on shrink pieces, it just flakes and isn’t waterproof anymore
Sorry this is a lot of criticism but this is suppose to be an custom kit but it feels very “oh it’s just a paint pen kit”

I say this as someone who does a lot of custom work btw, I do garage kits model kits and other custom stuff, a kit like this would have been nutty for me just starting if it was done right

As an honest review you walked into this knowing you had no interest in most of the elements, thats on you. Those kits list what is in them. So picking a kit obviously meant for a tween and then being surprised you hate stuff isn't imo an honest review. Also limiting yourself to whats only in the box again on you. Show us what you could have done with different elements. You were excited about the cup and the wooden eyeglass case. Redo the cup. Mistakes were made but that doesn't mean you can't start over. Use the colors you wanted to use. Is it the materials or is it you. Someone else mentioned kits are a base. Yes thats the idea. Use it to build on!

I think if it targets children and teens, it shouldn't cost that much, 115USD plus shipping is a lot. I wish Jazza would also do kits that are more affordable for beginners and young people.
