As a long time vector artist, I'm not ashamed to admit Moho's drawing tools seemed pretty obscure at first. I was originally importing my artwork from other programs, until I discovered that Moho's drawing tools are definitely worth learning. You get so much more control over your rigs, and can get some really cool effects going. I wish I had this video when I started. Great job man!
As a beginner, I clicked on the right arrow instead of the up arrow and went to the next frame in the timeline, and then the REAL adventure began Cool tutorial, thank you a lot!
Best Moho tutorial out there. Thank you for this, I've been trying to learn but the tutorials on the Moho channel are not so clear sometimes. Thank you again for not becoming one of those guys on UA-cam who have to make a joke out of every line they say. This is very professionally created, very clear, the best hands down. Please keep making these. I subscribed two minutes into the video. 😊😊😊
I've been sharing this video to pretty much anyone who asks me for good beginner tutorials or that has trouble drawing in Moho ^^ It's really good, i learned some new tricks myself! Well done!
I'm very happy to see this first tutorial, which is just perfect. Very professional, very clear, straight to the point, making it easy to remember the keyboard shortcuts. A huge thank you for putting this online! Can't wait to see the rest!
I'm loving this video! Thank you so much. As a guy who worked in Flash 15 years ago, I'm trying to jump back into animation and Moho seems to be the best way to do it. I am having an issue with bezier handles. In the 'EXTREME!' example, I'm trying to draw with the curves tool on, but it only seems to affect the other things I've drawn, not the waves I'm trying to make. I must be doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what!
Hi @chrislackey! Thank you! Re: the Bezier issue, I wonder if you need to check on Fixed Bezier Handles. With this option enabled, Bezier handle adjustments affect only the current point. If that's not it, I would hop over to the Moho forums and post an example there. Someone (probably D.R.,) will certainly take a look at it there. 😸
From D.R.: "That's so cool! I'm glad this is helpful. I first started thinking about making tutorials many years ago to teach my own child how to animate, but they couldn't wait and taught themselves. Now they think what I do is 'cute'. Oh, well." 😸
Very well explained drawing tools of moho. This video is even better then all videos in udemy / domestica. Its should be attached to official site of moho. I personaly only miss the snapping option in moho, all the rest its just great. Keep going i really like your videos.
I had the biggest problem figuring out the shape at the 37:50 mark, I watched Moe's tutorials and she did that split so easily I never understood how she did it. I mean it works in the sense that i could split it in two usually but when it came to using the "hide the stroke" section for some reason it wouldn't work. Thank you, this is great for economic rigs, like background characters clapping.
I'm glad that was helpful! Here's a bonus tip: If the points don't already exist in the closed curve, another way to split the curve is to draw a line completely across the closed curve, apply Weld Crossings from the Select Points options to add the points, and then delete the bits of the line on the outside of the closed curve. This will save you from creating the points and welding them manually. You'll still need to create separate shapes for each half of the split curve. I'll include this demo in a future Vector Drawing tips video
Hi @24stepsartanddesign66! Don't worry...Part 2 is still coming! We hope to have it out within a few weeks. Part 2 was partially recorded already but we wanted to release other foundational tutorials first. The information in the Bone Binding tutorial is a good example of a foundational topic; it's going to be important for following future tutorials about rigging. Unfortunately, the long format videos we've been making are taking a lot longer to create than we anticipated. So, starting with the next video, we're making shorter and more sharply focused tutorials until we can get on that weekly schedule we promised. Part 2 is actually a simpler video than Part 1 was, so D.R. will try to finish and release it during this time. Thanks for asking!
Hey, thanks for such a great tutorial! I've got one question about the 37:35 fragment. You selected one part of a ribbon, then the second one with shift, and Moho automatically found the shape (points in between). Is there any tool option to select for that? Because in my case, I need to select all of the points manually (Moho 14).
I asked D.R. and here's his reply: Hi @Rajcler! At 37.35, I'm just selecting the points using Shift. When all the points in a curve are selected using the Create Shape tool, Moho will highlight the entire curve as shown. You can select the entire path by selecting a point and then pressing the Tab key. This works with any point selection tool. Another option is to click directly on the path. (Not on a point.)
Hi @arakash6234, the Vector Drawing mini-series is officially two-parts, and Part 2 will come out in a few weeks. Until then, we're releasing shorter tutorials covering various Moho-related topics...so hopefully, there will at least be _something_ coming out every week. Thanks for asking!😺
Today we uploaded a video on the 5 Bone Binding Methods, which is essential for learning how to rig. Later this year, we'll be uploading small project-based tutorials, and some of these will be about rigging specific character types. Thanks for commenting!
@TeamLittleGreenDog Just now I checked out your video! It's informative. If possible make series from character design to rigging so that it will be easy to follow without confusion.
Hi. I saw you in moho forum. I have a question.. I had huion tablet RTP-700. When I draw with freehand tool, it is laggy. when I turned Windows ink off, lag is disappeared, but no pen pressure. How can I get pen pressure without lag??
Hi @안재철-r5p! Try posting this request on the forums. D.R. thinks he has an old Huion tablet here he can try, and if he learns anything helpful, he'll reply at the forums. He said the Lost Marble forums are better for longer technical discussions than the UA-cam comments section, and if he can't help, there may be other users there who can help. Remember to include the Moho version you're using in the post. Good luck, and see ya there! 😺
From D.R.: "Without getting into too much detail here, try turning Smoothing down. I know in Photoshop, a high Smoothing setting can cause a significant lag, so maybe in Moho too? Just a thought. Also, make sure you have the latest Huion drivers. That might seem obvious but have to ask to be sure."
I asked D.R. and he says: Hi @Hi-HK! Technically, an imported SVG is the same as a vector layer drawn in Moho. The difference might be in how the points are placed, which is easier to do when the drawing is created inside of Moho. It really depends on the character design and how you intend to rig and animate it.

Thanks, @RSKT. D.R. says HE wishes he had this video when he started. :)
Thank you so much! Detailed, clear and fun explanation. The best channel to learn Moho on UA-cam I've seen❤
You're very welcome! I'm happy to hear that!
As a beginner, I clicked on the right arrow instead of the up arrow and went to the next frame in the timeline, and then the REAL adventure began
Cool tutorial, thank you a lot!
Funny 😂 . Yeah, all the magic mostly happens on frame 0.
D.R. says "Mistakes can be educational. That's why I make so many of them." 😸

I finally gotten Moho Pro on Black Friday and Thanks for the tutorial, hopefully soon I'll learn all the features on it.
Hi @pedrosaabedra5653 ! Congratulations, and welcome to our channel! We're Moho and animation fanatics here, and I'm happy to meet you!
@TeamLittleGreenDog Thanks.
Your explanation with moho is among the best and I can count videos that are really concise, on one hand.
Love this series already.
Thank you so much brother. You are helping a lot. Keep uploading new tutorials.
I can't wait for the next one thank you so much 💖
Welcome back, King😊

I remember the select tool's shortcut "g" as grab. Blender uses it the same.
That's a good way to remember! D.R. uses Blender too. 😸
Really it's funny clear and easy to learn, thank you
