Florals for spring is such a beautiful colourway. Every time I think it, Miranda’s voice is right there in my head.
Thank you, love that movie, she was so great in it.
“Florals in Spring…..groundbreaking….” - The Devil Wears Prada?!
Yes! I love that movie
Yes!!! We love that movie.
I was wondering what type of dryer you used for your yarn. I remember you mentioning it a while ago and would like to get one for my crochet items
Ray’s smile when he talks about his Hap Shawl is the best ❤ You both make me smile whenever I watch your podcast.
Thank you 😀
I just want to say how wonderful it is to have you two amazing humans in this world and on UA-cam! I tune in every two weeks to see your wips and FOs, to hear all of your current events and of course future endeavors. I absolutely love your After Dark snack food around the world sampler videos. You two are so funny 😂.
Thanks again for all that you both do! Wishing you both so much success and happiness!
Aww thank you so much, we love doing this and getting to sit down and share with all of you.
I totally agree. I have been catching up after a 5 month hiatus and love visiting and knitting along with both of you. Love the two week catch up, FOs and WIPs reports, and all the other stuff. Thank you for giving us some of your time. ❤️
Hi! I may have said this before but this morning the instant I started your podcast, my cat, Oisín, came running into the room & sat down to watch. When I stopped it to go make a coffee, he got impatient with me & left 😂 I bet he's your biggest non-human fan!
Hi Oisin!! 🐱
Kevin, florals in spring is breathtaking. Love all your makes especially Kevin’s cardigan and Rays felted creatures.
Aww thanks so much 🥰
Have you ever seen the "s'mores" method where you take a waffle cone, like for ice cream, and all it with chocolate chips, cut up fruit (berries, bananas, etc) and mini marshmallows, wrap it in foil and put it in or near the fire for 2-3 minutes. It's so delicious and an easy way to do it with kids.
That sound delicious and right up our alley.
OMG, you guys make laugh all the time. Between ‘I’m deaf in that ear…” to Ray’s disdain of trashy romance novels. You lift my spirits. ❤
LOL, glad you enjoyed the episode.
Love the idea of yarn inspired from book covers!!! You both always make our day!!! Ty
Aww thank you ☺️
I have the ok you purchased Kevin and am making the sweater on the front! Always a joy. When your podcasts show up. I swatch podcasts while riding my recumbent bicycle every day.
Thank you so much for watching Lois.
Kevin, your v-neck sweater is beautiful. That yarn gives your stitches lovely definition. Looking forward to seeing it on!
Thanks Trish.
Ray, your blanket/shawl/HAP is absolutely stunning!😊
Oh thank you!
Ray's shawl is beautiful.
Kevin - You are truly one in a million. I crochet my blankets, but never would I use such thin yarn and such a small hook.
Episode #391: Kevin's crocheted blanket is a little over half way finished. Lol. God Bless.
That Floral yarn is nice.
LOL that sounds about right, its going to take a while for me to finish this blanket.
The rhubarb yarn is gorgeous!! I sent a picture to my sister and without the name attached. I asked her what she food she thought it was, she guess rhubarb!! When we were kids we would pick it from our dad’s garden, peel it and pour salt all over it. Get our books and sit in the sun and read our book while we munched on the rhubarb. Great memories from your beautiful yarn!
OMG that’s so awesome!! It’s hard sometimes to find names 🥰 What a great memory! Thanks so much for sharing 😊
Love the hap shawl. It's really a work of art.
Enjoying the new colorways, that orange is so lovely!
Thank you
LisaR: That mystery knit along blanket is
GORGEOUS!!!
Thank you, it has been really fun to knit.
Omg I love the Calcifer needle stoppers!
Oh, wow! Your new colors are fabulous! I love the Florals for Spring and that pale blue. So, so gorgeous! Ray, your shawl is beautiful. Love those colors together. Gotta get some of those sock sets from Gingersnap! Love them, and the stitch stoppers are the best. I have four or five sets of those and want more.
Thank you!
Ray, your mystery wool shawl is gorgeous… definitely heirloom quality !
Thank you Donna.
Love your podcast. Im lagging way behind on my WIPs. You both accomplish so much!! Love the sloth, Ray. And your yarn colorways are awesome, Kevin.
Thank you 😊
I’m DYEING over the floral colorway and the ghost water colorway!! I love them so much!! Also I love your reds that you dyed up!
Thank you Amanda, they are 2 of my favorites.
Such enablers. I have just ordered the fair Isle and Nordic knitting books and The Fourth Wing. I know I will enjoy them all. I love your colourways Kevin and wish the Australian dollar and postage were not so outrageous. I enjoyed everything you showed and are working on. Thanks so much xx
Yay, we love all those books, hope you do too.
Kevin, Those colorways are GOR-GEOUS! 🎶 You guys were busy! Ray, I love your blankets and the felted creatures. great podcast !
Thank you! I have been having so much fun experimenting with new colors.
Guys you two are just so GREAT! Ray’s JOY at Kevin’s yarn and Kevin’s genuine thankfulness for Ray’s compliments is so sweet to watch! I loved the “NEW” grasshopper colorway!
Aww ☺️
Ray, that Hap Shawl is Everything! Good job!
Thank you.
Thank you Ray for almost making me sip out my coffee when saying the guy on the cover of the book with the dragon looks like a Tic Tac
LOL 😂
Yummy knitting goodness just arrived. 🎉🎉don't know how to send a picture. 75 yr old Grandmother . Thank you for sharing your talents.
Aww yay! So glad it arrived ❤️
I love the sweater, you are moving right along.
Thank you.
Always so good to see you both. Always entertaining, always funny. I also watch Matt (cori’s friend). Great knitting! Cestari sheep and wool, all American, all affordable. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting Kathy.
I’m using the Lucky Tweed yarn to make my husband the “Single Malt” sweater for the “Let’s hear it for the boys” MKAL. That yarn and that pattern are made for each other- chef’s kiss 😘
Good to know, that sweater is on our list of sweaters to knit.
Great episode Kevin and Ray. Loved the shawl Ray, can not wait to see when finally blocked. Love your yarn colours Kevin. I made a similar pattern for my husband using the gansey style pattern. He loves it! Looking forward to your finished product.🥰Sharon.
Thank you Sharon.
Back from vacay with major jet lag😳😳😳 and There yall were. Spirits lifted and so happy to see all your goodies.!
Hi Julie, Hope you enjoyed your vacation.
@NeedlesattheReadyPodcast we did. We went to Northern Skye. Found a great wool store and, of course, bought a sweaters quantity for Max's malt whiskey swestet pattern and sock wool. It was lovely.
Wow, such a great job with the floral colorway and that is such a great interpretation of that picture. Ghostwater is my favorite, I absolutely love that light blue, hope to see it come back to the shop soon!
Thank you, I love both of those colors, but Ghostwater is definitely my favorite. I think I need to knit something in it. I had some in the pots today, should be in the shop this weekend.
Ray your hap looks incredible 😍 👌 👏 🙌 it's an heirloom piece for sure
I love it! Can’t wait to use it.
OMG Kevin, your Wolfsong idea is so cool !! I just took it out of the library and I am indeed just reading it for the first time ❤
Hope you enjoy the book, I loved the series.
Kevin, you definitely got that Florals in the Spring colourway down pat! Absolutely gorgeous. All your yarns look great.
YES! Come to Texas!! ❤ Kevin u are rocking it! Ur yarn colors are so beautiful!😍 Ray, ur little sloth is the cutest thing!! 🥰 Another great episode!
I know I said it last time, but it's even more true. Ray, your hap is a work of art!
And, Kevin, that floral you created is just stunning!
And one of my pet peeves is when people say sherbeRt! It's fingernails on a chalkboard for me! So thank you for pronouncing it correctly!
Thank you Kim!
Florals in Spring? Groundbreaking! Devil wears Prada- don’t u just love it? Great podcast! Hugs to you both
One of our favorite movies, thank you so much for watching Donna.
"I would have to fly there and have words" LOL
Sherbet sherbet sherbet sherber!!! I think because it's the American version of the French "sorbet". Gorgeous colors! Your eye for color and mix is superb 😍 Those zebra stripped sock yarn... make them opposites. Each sock will have different heel and cuff!
Thank you Diana 😊
Another fun episode.so happy you got your car back Kevin and hopefully the final few things won’t be too much of a hassle. Just signed up for the newsletter. I like the longer episodes as it becomes my designated knit time and I was able to put in several more rows on my Parasol Tee. Hope you have a good two weeks.
Thank you Sharon, it is so nice to leave the house when I want.
I am sooooo jealous that you have a Joji bag!!!! I would love to have one....one day....I'll just admire yours from afar!!
You should be very proud of your hap, it is gorgeous! I know it doesn't seem like it now, but come fall and winter that is going to be so lovely to wrap up in . Besides if one cannot be proud of oneself who else is going to to it.
Thank you Margaret, it has been such a fun knit.
Both of you have the most beautiful skin. Please share your secrets with your fans. Love the podcast. I am knitting socks with NATR yarn as I watch.
Aww thank you, we actually don't do anything special, just wash and use some lotion sometimes.
I am loving the Crochet 🚂!
Thank you 😊
Hello Kevin and Ray from Mounds, Illinois. It’s been hot here and raining, we have had over six inches of rain in the last week.
Hi Janet, Hope you are getting a break from the rain.
😂 that person is a tic tac! Thank you, I absolutely appreciated that comment. It made me snort-laugh!
LOL thank you so much for watching.
I started Unsouled this week! I love it so far! I loved Fourth Wing! I can’t wait for the next book.
Yay, we love the series, it can get confusing at first, but we really enjoyed it.
"You're a knitter Ray!".....😂😂😂😂 Who knew ????? Loving the podcast as always.
Lol 😂
Ray the Hap is absolutely beautiful! You are a capital K knitter!
Thank you Jayne.
Silo was an awesome series! Not sure if you all had ever mentioned watching the series See before, but I would recommend it. Sort of the same story line in regards to the world ending & how people have adapted. 👍🏼
Hi Teresa, We definitely need to finish watching See, we only watched the first season.
Hi Kevin and Ray, the socks were named Trophimus as that was the street name in Malta that my parents lived in when I was born. Congratulations to the winners. Gorgeous yarn Kevin and loved all your creations. The books look interesting and if you have Netflix I recommend The Night Agent. I purchased the book Fourth Wind which I plan to start reading this week ❤❤❤
Aww love how you picked the name for the socks. The Night Agent was so good.
Ray, I’m not a huge fan of mystery knits, but I am 100% on board for the next wool along…that is absolutely stunning!
It was really a great project, I would highly recommend doing the next one.
As a fellow smut reader, the book recap had me giggling and kicking my feet!
Yay, love hearing from other smut readers 😂
Kevin, I dye yarn too and I understand so much what you mean. Sometimes, before we skein a variegated yarn, it can look quite ugly and it can be disappointing. But yep, once it's skeined or knit, it's really not the same!
So funny how our view of it changes.
Congrats on your first Joji&Co bags. I bet they won't be your last. The Pampa Bucket is the entry point to an obsession. At least it was for me. I love all my Joji&Co bags. They are excellent.
We can definitely see more in our future.
Florals in Spring is beautiful looks like if you sniffed it you'd smell the flowers but Ghost Water it made me think of mountain ice that forms in Spring on rock faces beautiful nice job
Thank you Marie.
First Kevin convinced me to knit At Dawn, then he saved my ass by mentioning the needle size. I cast on with a 2.5 mm instead of a 3mm. Now I'm waiting on USPS to deliver my 3mm needles. At least I hadn't reached the first contrast stripe yet. Thanks Kevin!
Oh yay! So glad we could help ❤️❤️
You two (and everybody else) absolutely must watch the movie Big Eden, if you haven't already. It's my favorite movie, ever. Best love story. Male-male romance. You will laugh and cry and feel SOOOOOOOO good! It's an older movie, and a must watch. 💗💗
Also, love your new yarn colors, Kevin!
Thank you for the movie suggestion, we will check it out.
So envious when you held up those jojiandco bags! 🤢. They are very expensive in Australia, but I have lots of her patterns so not too sad😁
Kevin you reminded me of my sweet dad. He always said sherbet and was adamant it wasn’t sherbert!
LOL, I never noticed it until I checked the spelling.
We are so overloaded with color these days but not a bad thing.....however Ray's MKAL is so vintagely awesome. YUM!
Thank you, I am really pleased with how the shawl/blanket is turning out.
Great to see all your projects and your yarns. And the Lumberjack yarns are wonderful. I'll check out the site. AND! I can't wait to use "I'm loosing hearing in this ear" with my other half! So fun and funny! Best wishes for a bit more July.
Thanks Mike.
Love Red Stagg yarn. I was at Apricot Yarns in last year for the San Diego yarn crawl and purchased some in the Antique Leather and Scottish Sunset. I haven't used it yet but I need to get some more colors. That green and Navy may be just what I need.
HIs yarn is fantastic, Antique Leather is so good.
Hi Kevin and Ray - Great podcast as always. I love your choice of projects and its fun that you are both exploring crochet, and I like the wee sloth you made Ray. The new yarn colours you have created Kevin are fantastic, I love seeing what your creative mind churns out. The book cover inspired colours are going to be really cool.
Secret Invasion is fun, my family watches it too. I am also interested in some of these sci-fi/magic themed books you are reading. I am just getting back to reading and I am a fan of the fantasy/sci/fi type books.
Love this! We’re definitely drawn to the sci-fi fantasy genre. It’s nice for an escape from reality ❤️
Hi Kevin and Ray. Your colours of yarn are lovely Kevin and oh my Ray your shawl is beautiful. Can’t wait to see your jumper finished Kevin it looks so cosy. The twins will love the blankets from Uncle Ray😀.Enjoy your two weeks ,see you next time.🧶👍🏻
Thank you Judy.
THIN MINT!! That’s what you should call it
Ray, your mystery shawl is just stunning. It looks like an heirloom piece. So gorgeous!!!
Thank you, I am so thrilled with it.
I have been a homeowner/DIY because I was broke and couldn't afford plumbers! I learned to solder and sweat copper pipes and fittings..and I swear that shit is sentient!!! You work on the kitchen and the bathroom will spring a leak!
LOL, the joys of being a homeowner, it is really nice when something does get fixed though and to know that you did it.
We need a NATR Tshirt with "blocking is like putting finishing salt on a steak". puleeze!!!
LOL, we may need to get one made for Rhinebeck.
Ray your knitting is amazing
Thank you 😊
Ray, when you were talking about the book ur reading about the maid, it reminded me about another book…it’s real ‘crazy/mind twisting’ book, I recommend Run Hide Repeat. You literally have to read to end end and then you don’t know what you read…cause it is so GOOD! I don’t remember too many finer details of many books, but this one stuck with me.
Ohh I will definitely add it, thank you 😊
Tales of the Otori by Lian Hearn. Fabulous fantasy series with Japanese influences. No naughty bits though.
Hey, Guys. Ray, I just love what you’ve done with the blanket. Just wow. Beautiful! Kevin, that vest. Sooo good.
Thank you Karen.
heya guys great clip this time i did not missed remembered to pull the bell thing :)
Thank you
Love the episode and all of your projects look amazing AND the yarn dying is fantastic
Thank you so much 😊
Fourth wing was SO good. Also, I just read my first TJ Klune book, in the lives of puppets, and it might be my favourite book I've read this year so far. So I will definately check out Wolfsong!!
Really love the bookish yarn colour idea 😍
We both love TJ Klune, never been disappointed in one of his books.
Kevin, it is fun to see your dying skills getting better and better. Such pretty colors!!
Thank you Kathy!
You could have a milk and dark chocolate option for your frozen grasshopper.
Good idea 😀
The heat is insufferable, thank goodness for your video….and talking about books…. My daughter, one of them, told me about this great book she has read….four wings…..She said that she knew i would nit like it but that it was fantastic….and fantasy.
We both have read and love that book, can't wait for the next book in the series.
Great episode! I sympathize with the reading. I'm in a Masters program at the moment as well, and the summer semester is short, and I'm taking two research intensive classes. Been a rough semester! :-) But it's almost over and I've learned a ton. Hope you are having a similar experience. Thanks for the recommendation Pure Joy Shawl. I'm looking forward to casting it on. Have fun!
I definitely am learning a lot too! It’ll be worth it for the both of us! Hang in there ❤️❤️
Another fun "visit!" Kevin, your colorways are fantastic '! Ray, your shawl is just WOW! Beautiful stitching. I love the Modern Skein...Sharon is so great at choosing yarns. Good that it isn't close to me. Brothers and Sisters was one of my favs.
Thank you Barbara. OMG we loved Brothers and Sisters, might be time for a rewatch.
Mary from Oregon is in the room! Hi, guys! So happy to see you today. It’s going to be toasty here today but I’m not going outdoors for any reason. Yesterday I “finished” a top-down cardi and will start Weavin Stephen the ends. I await cooler weather to block it! Now all I have to do is plan a new project with my recent NATR purchase! Scarf? Cowl? Vest? Hat with matching mitts? Decisions, decisions! ❤❤
Hi Mary. Aww thank you so much for supporting the shop, we really appreciate it.
Ray, your hap shawl / lap blanket is beautiful!! 💚
Thank you Laurie.
Having a little magnet hidden on the inside of the bag might hold the handle pieces down, kind of the way some snaps on purses are magnetized.
Ohhh great idea!!! I'll look into adding one, thank you :-)
Great to catch up with you again ♥
Kevin, all the new yarn is gorgeous !
Ray, your shawl is so special. Such a treasure!
I haven't read The Fourth Wing yet butbhear so many great reviews...it's on my reading list. Glad you enjoyed Silo, another good TV show I've watched recently is The Last Of Us.
Have a great two weeks guys ♥
Thank you Kim. The Last of Us was fantastic, really looking forward to season 2.
Looking forward to meeting you at Skein Yarn Shop! Thanks for another great episode! 💕
Can't wait, it should be a fun day.
Omg the needle felting Ray!! Love them and want them🎉 Kevin you have looked so relaxed since going into business for yourself❤ Wait until end of last Silo episode!! Mind blown. Can’t wait until new season. I have heard the books are good.
I am way more relaxed and less stressed, I really enjoy the yarn dying. The last episode was great, can't wait to see what happens in season 2.
Read the Fourth Wing they said, it’s great they said. What they didn’t say was--cliffhanger!!😮
Right, such a good cliffhanger.
The square mwal is sooo beautiful! I would now do their make alongs! Thanks
It is has been such a fun knit, I would highly recommend doing the KAL.
I love it!❤🥰
Hi guys, hope you're both well. So happy to watch tonight's video in Belgium. I'm knitting the Suri shirt, my first top down in the round tee and its so much fun.
Top down tee is definitely on our list, we just need to find a pattern that speaks to us.
As I am sitting here watching you share your Myak MKAL shawls, I am using one of each of your colors in my PureJoy Shawl! I am using the Chanda and the Turchese! My new shawl name has now become, “Kevin and Ray’s Pure Joy”!
The colors are fantastic, it will look so good in your shawl.
I just took a class from Cori of Irocknits. It was very good.
Yay, she is a great teacher.
You guys are killing it with your wips! ❤
Thank you 😊
omg, TJ Klune is such an amazing author!! I haven't read the Wolfsong series yet as I have been waiting for the re-release. I might have to break my no buying yarn rule if you do the yarn inspired by the books!
It’s such a great series! Definitely worth another read soon ❤️
I would definitely buy floral in spring with the light blue as sock set
Absolutely beautiful
Thank you Terry!
Ray, as Kevin said you should be proud of that Hap Shawl. It is stunning and I am looking forward to seeing it blocked.
Thank you Trish.
Hi, from wet England. Love listening to your podcast. Any tips on getting your craft mojo back. Since going in the leg cast i have found it hard to sit and knit / crochet. Possibly due to not being able to concentrate. But love listening to the podcast. You are a fabulous knitter Ray, the shawls amazing a hap for happiness.
Hi! Sometimes the best thing to do is try something different creatively. It could be just coloring or drawing, but something else to get the creative juices flowing.
