Confession: Sometimes Kevin really serves me Assistant Manager vibes. I'm glad you are acknowledging the stash and your former plans. I think that's a good first step to being a bit more mindful with your consumption and knitting. I just completed my first JellyRoll blanket. You might want to check out the Crazy Sock Lady’s alternative way of attaching the strips. She has a much neater version. I made mine DK. Used my fingering wt yarn double. I love it. Good luck to you. Great way to use up stash. No stress just did a little every day.

Kevin, I’m not familiar with how the strips are joined in the Jelly Roll blanket, but if you are slipping the selvedge stitches you can get a nice ridge. If you find yourself unhappy with what you get, have a look at Very Pink Knit’s tutorial for Frankie Brown’s Ten Stitch blanket. That makes for a really neat and attractive join. Can’t wait to see your BIP (blanket-in-progress)! 😊 ~Brenda

Hi Kevin, lovely to see you are knitting Kay Jones’s Jelly Roll Blanket, just wanted to let you know in the pattern please watch the video that Kay provides to show you how to knit the blanket her videos are so helpful if I am stuck I always try Kay’s video first she she is my go to for help. I am in the process of knitting this blanket with my leftover 4ply and it is so easy to pick up when you have no brain space for patterns and it looks so good when you get going with it.
Absolutely love you and Ray just wish you were in this country, I can’t afford postage charges at the moment it makes US yarn so expensive for us here in England and I always fall in love with one of the projects/yarn/bags still I love watching you with Ray

Soap making was my thing for several years until some health problems sidelined me. But that’s when I learned about knitting so not complaining!

I love the ornament kit you showed from Felted Sky, just ordered myself a kit! I think that this will be such a fun thing to surprise my husband with. We had made St. Nicholas and Father Christmas last year and really enjoyed it. We recently bought our first house and I think this will be such a fun thing to commemorate this special Christmas for us.

Joji’s stash post made me want to get going with organizing and cataloging mine…I fear I might give her some competition for size. 😬😳🤣 I have a Berry Meadow kit from Rhinebeck last year…it’s for a cowl and they had both knit and crochet versions. I preferred the look of the crochet one so I got it, but now I need to learn to crochet better so I can make it! 😂
We want to do the same, but also are afraid of the number of skeins that will add up lol. Their kits are really great, I'm sure Ray will be more in the future 🤣

I am with you in the stupid club, I am knitting the Yoga retreat blanket with a 4 row pattern and I am not convinced the recipient is knit worthing but I must remember to do it with love and give it away with grace ❤ as I agreed to do it.

So enjoy watching the podcast. I discovered the same thing as Kevin did about my socks. I hadn’t known that you should make the sock length 1/2” shorter than the foot length for negative ease. You guys have the same problem as my husband does with remembering names. I always have to whisper a name and briefly how he knows them as he asks me if he knows this person!

I just wanted to suggest the Undertone Cowl by Tin Can Knits for your nieces. I made them last year for all my children’s gifts. You do need two colors, but you’ll use very little yarn for the children’s sizes. If you don’t want to use two colors you could make Oats cowl which matches with the Barley hat and those are free patterns.

For the jelly roll blanket: test out seaming the slipped edges before you get too far. Slipped edges are often looser and may not hold the weight of the blanket well.
I’ve had that pattern in my favorites and can’t wait to see your progress!

Great episode. I got FOMO on the spinning wheel, which is out of stock until 2024, and the Berry Meadow Farm kits. Sigh. And I really want an Erlbacher….so many toys and so little time. I currently have 3 socks on the needles, two sweaters (one will be finished today), and I just finished a hat for my sisters birthday. The hat was knit in Moondrake in her Merino linen, which is wicked soft. I have 3 skeins of MYak in different colors I’m trying to figure out a hat pattern or a colorwork cowl. Again, so much to knit, and I feel like casting on everything. Looking forward to the next episode from my #2 Podcasters. Hopefully the 100 celebration zoom. Cheers.

i too am in the jelly roll due to crazy sock lady-holding the fingering double as she suggested-totally squishy and addictive-you could try the coziest memories blanket your 10 gram samples--it would be so true to the name--both are longer term projects but so worth it

Happy anniversary! My hubby and I celebrated our 54th on Nov.6. We were babies when we got married 🤣. This was another fun episode. Ray, I agree with Kevin, that’s a lot of knitting for a baby lol. The little sweater you are making now will be precious with the hat❤

Keep in mind that women's sock sizes are smaller. Maybe those sock blockers are for women's socks, which could also explain the narrow fit. US7 for men is around US9 for women. :) Congrats on episode 99!

Fosters farm is in a really beautiful area, east of Saratoga, we came across it by accident in 2019 on a ride to find schroon lake and took a detour . yes bought fiber while I was there. It's also near king brothers dairy with great ice cream.
Ohhh we love us some ice cream!! LOL road trip!! haha

Such a fun episode. You both make me laugh with your banter back and forth. Have found my love of crocheting throws although I still prefer knitting, crocheting is a nice change and tinking back is a breeze with crochet. Please if you can, have an episode next year in May or June (I need lots of time) about starting holiday knits. I swore I was going to start back in July but here it is Nov 13 and I'm trying to figure out how to get it done. Have a great 2 weeks.

Y'all got some amazing things at NE Sheep & Wool! As a side, if you're headed towards Pick Up Every Stitch and make a detour in Rye Brooke there is a soap shop called Buff City Soaps (hand soaps, scented laundry soap, foaming, shave bars, shower and bath bombs, etc). It's a franchise that started out of Memphis - all natural, plant-based soaps made on site with delightful scents, including local specials and seasonal scents. It's one of the things that I loved having in Tennessee and am so happy to still have now that we're here.
Thank you for sharing that, we love a handmade soap.

Kevin, the blanket you started is a very good idea for me too, because I have some hand-dyed Aran weight yarn that were my first dyeing attempts and I have only 1 skein from each. Two months ago I cast on a wide wrap, like a smaller blanket and using Half Fisherman's Rib stitch pattern, with an i-cord, I knitted less than 10 inches randomly with each color in wide stripes, and since the colors are mostly speckled they faded into each other and I feel I can't see the actual colorway and the yarn, so probably it would be better if I frog it and do something like the blanket you are doing. Thank you for sharing your ideas, you both are very inspiring. 💙🧡(I started a podcast recently, which is monthly and I showed the yarn and the wrap in the second episode 24:12 in case you like to see how it turned out.)
