Just wanted to say how much I appreciate your videos because you give a different perspective and the attention to detail. I’ve probably watched every video that’s been released so far this morning and you are the only one who has mentioned that you can use a step down ring on this lens. Literally everyone else has just said you would need to buy a new filter lol
28-70mm f2.0 GM. 86mm filter. Many reviews show using an 86mm stepdown to 82mm adaptor, which you can use 82mm filter with 28-70mm f2.0 GM without any vignetting.
I shoot a lot at night. I was going to spring for the 24-70 GM2 but now, I'm highly considering this f2 lens. Thanks for the video and sorry for spamming your DM on Instagram lol
BTW I think you're missing the link to the lens in your description. I see "Sony 28-70 F2 -" but nothing after. Just wanted to let you know in case this was an accident!
28-40 f2 of this quality for a more compact prime replacement, or a 35mm f2 G lens in the form factor of their 24-40-50 G line that you could use to turn an α7 C/R camera into an rx1 successor. Make the 35mm G a 1:2 Macro for a bit more spice.
I know there’s a lot of hype around this lens right now but personally I think it’s unnecessary. The 24-70 is smaller lighter & cheaper. If you’re that desperate for the lower aperture you need a prime lens. People are welcome to disagree with me. I just don’t get the point of this lens.
Depends what you’re shooting really. As a wedding filmmaker this lens is a dream. I swap between 35, 50 and 24mm primes and carry around a bag. This lens takes all this away. The convenience, not missing any moments, more possibilities and I can get more creative with all these focal lengths. I shoot mostly at f2 so it’s perfect!

Well that’s the thing. Is like 3 primes in one lens. I’m a prime shooter. Have never owned a zoom. But this lens (and canons) are enticing for that reason that you can get prime aperture with a zoom

Appreciate you 🙏🏼
I'd absolutely love a 16-50/55 F2.8 for full frame .
the color grading on your videos is so pleasing to the eye
Appreciate you 🙏🏼
i really wanna see someone make a 20-60 2.8; i love the lumix kit lens and it'd be cool to see a big brother
Thanks for answering the 86-82mm filter question i had.
Appreciate the clarification on the 82mm filter

They need to update the 90mm macro

I am dreaming of a 20-70 f2.8 in compact size.
dream on hahaha, physics won't allow that to be compact..
I am dreaming of 18mm-300mm f1.2 compact lens
20-50 2.8
Yeah this is the best review of the 28-70, great job!
Glad you liked it!
thanks for testing the step-down ring, very useful information! 🙏
Glad it was helpful!
Incase you didnt know, Polar Pro makes an 86mm helix base filter. It’s a step down ring. $20 on B&H
Did you check the vignette at f2 with the step down ring? You had it at 6.3 in the video
I want a 24-150 f/2. That 35-150 is incredible, but I want Sony or Sigma to take a stab at it and do it better.
What base plate are you using on the FX3?!

You look more like a father or golfer with that polo and hat on 😂 As always great video! Love the honesty at the end there!
Still holding my breath for that 24-105mm f2.8. Hope sony announces one next year :o
Hey Chris, what cage are you using on your Fx3 in this video? I would love to buy it

Chris thank you so much for the video. Can you see any vignetting when using a 82mm and taking photos with this lens? I'm a hybrid shooter.
I need a 12-200 f 1.4 Ful Frame for Sony. Make it happen Tamron. Kidding of course!
i want to see a 35-150 f2-2.8 GM
OSS?
Nope 😔
I would have much rather had a 24-50, or 24-60 OVER a 28-70. I really use that 24mm range a lot more than the 70mm range.
Next will be 70-200 f2.0 GM
We need 16-200 F1.2 for 5k 😂
